We develop an extended form of the quasilinearization method for an initial value problem involving a nonlinear integro-differential equation with mixed nonlinearities, occurring in distributed-infective and distributed-contact models. We study a problem of diffraction of a cylindrical acoustic wave from an absorbing half plane in a moving fluid introducing Myers' condition [M.K. Myers, On the acoustic boundary condition in the presence of flow, J. Sound Vibration 71 (1980) 429] and present an improved form of the analytic solution for the diffracted field. The importance of the work lies in the fact that Myers' condition (a generalization of Ingard's impedance condition) is now the accepted form of the boundary condition for impedance barriers with flow and hence yields a correct form of the field. This article is concerned with the existence and robust stability of an equilibrium point that related to interval inertial Cohen–Grossberg neural networks. Such condition requires the existence of an equilibrium point to a given system, so the existence and uniqueness of the equilibrium point are emerged via nonlinear measure method. Furthermore, with the help of Halanay inequality lemma, differential mean value theorem as well as inequality technique, several sufficient criteria are derived to ascertain the robust stability of the equilibrium point for the addressed system. The results obtained in this article will be shown to be new and they can be considered alternative results to previously results. Normal distribution based discriminant methods have been used for the classification of new entities into different groups
based on a discriminant rule constructed from the learning set. In practice if the groups are not homogeneous, then mixture
discriminant analysis of Hastie and Tibshirani (J R Stat Soc Ser B 58(1):155–176, 1996) is a useful approach, assuming that
the distribution of the feature vectors is a mixture of multivariate normals. In this paper a new logistic regression model
for heterogenous group structure of the learning set is proposed based on penalized multinomial mixture logit models. This
approach is shown through simulation studies to be more effective. The results were compared with the standard mixture discriminant
analysis approach using the probability of misclassification criterion. This comparison showed a slight reduction in the average
probability of misclassification using this penalized multinomial mixture logit model as compared to the classical discriminant
