Electron impact double ionization cross-sections of Sc+ions have been
calculated in the binary encounter approximation (BEA). Accurate expression
of σΔE(cross-section for energy transfer ΔE) and
Hartree-Fock velocity distributions for the target electrons have been used
throughout the calculations. Direct double ionization from ejection of 3d
and 4s electrons has been investigated in the modified double binary
encounter model incorporating the focusing action of the target ion on the
incident electron. The identification of the 3p shell whose ionization
provides a major contribution to double ionization through
ionization-autoionization is an interesting aspect of the present
investigation. The theoretical results show satisfactory agreement with the

The unsteady magnetohydrodynamic viscous flow and heat transfer of Newtonian fluids induced by an impulsively stretched plane surface in two lateral directions are studied by using an analytic technique, namely, the homotopy method. The analytic series solution presented here is highly accurate and uniformly valid for all time in the entire region. The effects of the stretching ratio and the magnetic field on the surface shear stresses and heat transfer are studied. The surface shear stresses in x- and y-directions and the surface heat transfer are enchanced by increasing stretching ratio for a fixed value of the magnetic parameter. For a fixed stretching ratio, the surface shear stresses increase with the magnetic parameter, but the heat transfer decreases. The Nusselt number takes longer time to reach the steady state than the skin friction coefficients. There is a smooth transition from the initial unsteady state to the steady state. 相似文献

A nonlinear optical material benzoyl valine (BV) was synthesized by the technique of slow evaporation process at room temperature. The single crystal X ray diffraction analysis evince that crystal corresponds to acentric space group P21 with monoclinic system. The diverse optical properties assured an elevated transparency in BV crystal. Photoluminescence profile revealed the suitability of crystal for fabricating violet lasers. The Laser damage threshold and the dielectric behavior of the grown crystal were analyzed to indicate its practical applications. The unsteady mixed convection flow of an incompressible laminar electrically conducting fluid over an impulsively stretched permeable vertical surface in an unbounded quiescent fluid in the presence of a transverse magnetic field has been investigated. At the same time, the surface temperature is suddenly increased from the surrounding fluid temperature or a constant heat flux is suddenly imposed on the surface. The problem is formulated in such a way that for small time it is governed by Rayleigh type of equation and for large time by Crane type of equation. The non-linear coupled parabolic partial differential equations governing the unsteady mixed convection flow under boundary layer approximations have been solved analytically by using the homotopy analysis method as well as numerically by an implicit finite difference scheme. The local skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number are found to decrease rapidly with time in a small time interval and they tend to steady-state values for t*≥5. They also increase with the buoyancy force and suction, but decrease with injection rate. The local skin friction coefficient increases with the magnetic field, but the local Nusselt number decreases. There is a smooth transition from the unsteady state to the steady state. 相似文献

Ni-doped CeO2 nanoparticles were prepared by using the co-precipitation method. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy. The XRD results infer that Ni-doped CeO2 nanoparticles have single phase nature similar to that of pure CeO2 nanoparticles. We have calculated lattice parameters using Powder-X software, particle size using Scherer’s formula and strain using the Williamson-Hall method for all the synthesized samples. We have observed a systematic decrease in the lattice parameters, particle size and strain with an increase in Ni doping in CeO2. The FE-SEM micrographs also confirm that Ni-doped CeO2 have nanocrystalline behavior and particles are spherical shaped. From the Raman spectra, it is observed that the intensity of classical CeO2 vibration modes first increases then decreases with Ni doping. The NEXAFS spectra measured at Ce M4,5 and Ni L3,2 edges clearly indicate that Ce ions are in the +4 valence state and Ni ions are in the +2 valence state. 相似文献

Cryopreservation of in vitro axillary shoot tips of Crateva nurvala Buch. Ham, an important medicinal tree, was investigated. Axillary buds (c. 1mm in length) excised from 4-week-old in vitro cultures, were pre-cultured on liquid MS medium supplemented with 0.4 M sucrose for 16 h. These were incubated in 2 M glycerol+0.4 M sucrose for 20 min at 25 degree C before being dehydrated with PVS2 solution for 40 min The dehydrated shoot tips were directly immersed in LN. Following cryopreservation and after rapid warming at 40 degree C, shoot tips were quickly washed with MS+1.2 M sucrose solution for 20 min and then plated on top of filter paper placed on MS medium supplemented with 0.1 mg l-1 BAP, kept in darkness for one day followed by placement of shoots directly on the medium and incubation in darkness for a day more, before transfer of cultures to light. Average survival in terms of normal shoot formation after 4 weeks of plating was 56.6 percent. The rescued shoot tips were bulked up by subsequent nodal cultures and when put onto 0.02 mg l-1 NAA showed a rhizogenic response. Thus, in vitro-grown shoot tips of Crateva nurvala were successfully cryopreserved following the optimization of the PVS2-vitrification protocol. 相似文献
