Th(IV) has been titrated amperometrically at an applied e.m.f of −1.0 V (dropping mercury electrode vs. SCE) with diphenic acid (neutralized with sodium hydroxide). Th(IV) in the range 8.0–60.0 mg/100ml can be determined with an error of ±0.5%. A number of foreign ions including Ce(IV), Zr(IV), La(III), U(IV), U(VI) do not interfere even if present in excess but traces of Ti(IV) do. The method is rapid and selective and has been used for the determination of Th(IV) in monazite sand.  相似文献

Sulphide, sulphite and thiosulphate can be determined separately or in admixture, with thallic perchlorate or sulphate in acid medium. A sample solution is rendered approximately 0.5 M in acid, 5 ml of 0.05 M KI are added and the solution is titrated to a starch end-point with thallium(III) solution. In another method an acid sample solution is titrated with thallium(III) or iodine solution in the presence of indigo carmine indicator. The end-point is improved in the presence of Co(II).  相似文献

The solid state reactions between ferrous oxalate dihydrate i.e. FeC2O4.2H2O and unsubstituted/ substituted aniline hydrochlorides have been studied. The products [FeCl/oxH/. AN-Cl] have been characterized by elemental analysis, infrared and Mössbauer spectroscopic techniques. The kinetic studies for the reactions have been performed at various temperatures for fixed particle sizes at constant compaction. The following order of reactivity has been observed: unsubstituted > p-substituted > m-substituted o-substituted.  相似文献

An iterative computational method for the determination of metal ions in aqueous solutions which form reversible couples such as Fe(II)/Fe(III), Pu(III)/Pu(IV) etc. by controlled potential coulometry has been developed. The method involves carrying out the electrolysis to about 95–97% and calculating the total amount present in the sample by an iterative computational method. The method utilizes the direct application of the Nernst equation. The important criterion to be met is that the coulogram of the couple should strictly obey the Nernst equation. The validity of the method has been checked by analyzing about 50 samples of a standard iron solution. Results of analysis of mixtures of Pu and Fe by the iterative technique show that the interference of Fe can almost entirely be eliminated. However, analysis of Pu samples by this procedure gives results about 2–3% lower than the expected value. A careful examination of the experimental coulograms of Pu in lM HClO4 indicates a slight deviation from the theoretical coulogram, where as those of Fe match exactly.  相似文献

A fibre-optic sensor for continuous measurement of sulphur dioxide is described. It is based on the dynamic quenching of the fluorescence of a polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbon [benzo(b)fluoranthene] which is immobilized in silicone polymer. Sulphur dioxide is shown to be an efficient quencher; Stern-Volmer graphs are given which describe the relation between SO2 concentration and relative fluorescence. Detection limits are about 0.01% (v/v) SO2 in air; the useful range is from 0.01–6% (v/v). Other gases likely to occur in air were found to be inert, except for oxygen which also acts as a dynamic quencher. Its interference is negligible for SO2 levels below 6% in air at constant oxygen pressure, because the quenching efficiency of SO2 is about 26 times higher than that of oxygen. For varying oxygen levels, a two-sensor technique is suggested.  相似文献

A two-fluorophore system consisting of pyrene as donor and perylene as energy acceptor undergoes efficient energy transfer when pyrene is electronically excited. The excitation wavelength was that of pyrene and fluorescence was monitored at the emission wavelength of perylene. The fluorescence of pyrene is strongly quenched by oxygen, but that of perylene is not. The two-fluorophore system, in contrast, is very strongly quenched, with a 4-fold increase in the Stern-Volmer quenching constant as compared to the quenching of pyrene, as a result of the effect of oxygen on the formation of the donor-acceptor exciplex, and quenching by oxygen. The results are used to design a fluorescence-based optical oxygen sensor which offers a sensitivity greatly exceeding that of existing oxygen probes.  相似文献

Molar excess volumes, VE, for pyridine (A) + α-picoline (B), + β-picoline (B) and + γ-picoline (B) and benzene (A) + toluene (B), + o-xylene (B) and + p-xylene (B) and carbon tetrachloride (A) + n-heptane (B) have been measured dilatometrically as a function of temperature and composition and have been utilized to study B—B and B—B—B interactions in the presence of A via the Mayer—McMillan approach. A model has also been presented to account for these B—B and B—B—B interactions. The VE data at 308.15 K have also been analysed in terms of the “graph theoretical” approach which describes the VE data well for all these mixtures at 308.15 K. The “graph theoretical” approach has further been extended to successfully evaluate VE data for a mixture at any temperature, T2, when the VE data at T1 are known.  相似文献
