We report a quite unusual feature of four liquid-liquid reentrant transitions in ethanol (E)+water (W)+ammonium sulfate mixture by meticulous tuning of the ammonium sulfate concentration in a narrow range, as a function of temperature, at atmospheric pressure. Detailed exploration of the intricate phase behavior in terms of E/W sections shows that the range of triple reentrance shrinks with increasing E/W. The behavior of osmotic susceptibility is investigated by light scattering, near the critical point, in the one-phase region by varying the temperature at fixed concentration of the components, in a particular E/W section. The critical exponent of susceptibility (gamma) and correlation length (nu) are observed to have Fisher renormalized Ising values [Phys. Rev. 176, 237 (1968)], with gamma(r)=1.41 and nu(r)=0.718. The effective susceptibility exponent, gamma(eff), exhibits a sharp, nonmonotonic crossover from Ising to mean-field critical behavior, which is completed outside the critical regime. The amplitude of the correlation length, xi(o)(=21.2+/-0.4 A), deduced from light scattering experiment, is an order of magnitude larger than the typical values in usual aqueous electrolyte systems. This value of xi(o) is further verified from small-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) experiments and found to be consistent. SAXS experiments on the critical sample reveal the presence of long-ranged intermolecular correlations, leading to supramolecular structuring, at a temperature far away from the critical point. These results convincingly demonstrate that the finite length scale arising due to the structuring competes with the diverging correlation length of critical concentration fluctuations, which influences the nonasymptotic critical behavior in this aqueous electrolyte system. The sulphate ions play a dominant role in both structuring and the complex phase behavior.  相似文献

The tendency of selenium to interact with heavy metals in presence of naturally occurring species has been exploited for the development of green bioremediation of toxic metals from soil using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) modeling. The cross validation of the data for the reduction in uptake of Hg(II) ions in the plant R. sativus grown in soil and sand culture in presence of selenium has been used for ANN modeling. ANN model based on the combination of back propagation and principal component analysis was able to predict the reduction in Hg uptake with a sigmoid axon transfer function. The data of fifty laboratory experimental sets were used for structuring single layer ANN model. Series of experiments resulted into the performance evaluation based on considering 20% data for testing and 20% data for cross validation at 1,500 Epoch with 0.70 momentums The Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm (LMA) was found as the best of BP algorithms with a minimum mean squared error at the eighth place of the decimal for training (MSE) and cross validation.  相似文献

Herein we have reported the discovery of a pentacyclic building block comprised of fused indole-quinoline and piperidinone from the natural product perophoramidine as a formidable anticancer agent. The compounds were synthesized in six steps where the key steps involved a blue LED mediated intramolecular cyclopropanation of the indole intermediates and concomitant reduction of the associated aryl nitro moiety to nitroso in the molecule. Cytotoxicity screening of the compounds against an array of cancer cells that is, MCF7, HCT116 and A549 demonstrated 0.6 to 9 μM IC50s by few of the compounds. γH2AX immunofluorescence assay of the two most potent molecules from the phenotypic screening with anti-γ-H2AX Alexa Fluor 488 antibody revealed extensive DNA damage of the A549 cells which indicated probable PARP inhibition (similar to Perophoramidine). Through molecular docking and molecular dynamic (MD) simulation studies the binding efficiency of our compounds with poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase 1 (PARP 1) enzyme was determined. Chemiluminescent PARP Assay with Histone-coated strips indicated that the most active compounds from the phenotypic screening induced PARP-1 inhibition with IC50s of 1.3→1.5 μM.  相似文献

The heat capacity of a supercooled liquid subjected to a temperature cycle through its glass transition is studied within a kinetic model. In this model, the beta process is assumed to be thermally activated and described by a two-level system. The alpha process is described as a beta relaxation mediated cooperative transition in a double well. The overshoot of the heat capacity during the heating scan is well reproduced and is shown to be directly related to delayed energy relaxation in the double well. In addition, the calculated scan rate dependencies of the glass transition temperature T(g) and the limiting fictive temperature T(f) (L) show qualitative agreement with the known results. Heterogeneity is found to significantly reduce the overshoot of heat capacity. Furthermore, the frequency dependent heat capacity has been calculated within the present framework and found to be rather similar to the experimentally observed behavior of supercooled liquids.  相似文献

DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil), a free radical-containing organic compound, is used widely to evaluate the antioxidant properties of plant constituents. Here, we report an efficient electroactive DPPH molecular system with excellent electrocatalytic sensor properties, which is clearly distinct from the traditional free radical-based quenching mechanism. This unusual molecular status was achieved by the electrochemical immobilization of graphene oxide (GO)-stabilized DPPH on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Potential cycling of the DPPH adsorbed-GCE/GO between ??1 and 1 V (Ag/AgCl) in a pH 7 solution revealed a stable and well-defined pair of redox peaks with a standard electrode potential, E0′?=?0?±?0.01 V (Ag/AgCl). Several electrochemical characterization studies as well as surface analysis of the GCE/GO@DPPH-modified electrode by transmission electron microscopy, Raman, and infrared spectroscopy collectively identified the imine/amine groups as the redox centers of the electroactive DPPH on GO. The use of different carbon-supports showed that only oxygen-functionalized GO and MWCNTs could provide major electroactivity for DPPH. This highlights the importance of a strong hydrogen-bonded network structure assisted by the concomitant π-π interactions between the organic moiety and oxygen function groups of carbon for the high electroactivity and stability of the GCE/GO@DPPH-NH/NH2-modified electrode. The developed electrode exhibited remarkable performance towards the electrocatalytic oxidation of NADH at 0 V (Ag/AgCl). The amperometric i-t sensing of NADH showed high sensitivity (488 nA μM?1 cm?2) and an extended linear range (50 to 450 μM) with complete freedom from several common biochemical/chemical interferents, such as ascorbic acid, hydrazine, glucose, cysteine, citric acid, nitrate, and uric acid.  相似文献

Combination of drugs for multiple targets has been a standard treatment in treating various diseases. A single chemical entity that acts upon multiple targets is emerging nowadays because of their predictable pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties. We have employed a computer-aided methodology combining molecular docking and pharmacophore filtering to identify chemical compounds that can simultaneously inhibit the human leukotriene hydrolase (hLTA4H) and the human leukotriene C4 synthase (hLTC4S) enzymes. These enzymes are the members of arachidonic acid pathway and act upon the same substrate, LTA4, producing different inflammatory products. A huge set of 4966 druglike compounds from the Maybridge database were docked into the active site of hLTA4H using the GOLD program. Common feature pharmacophore models were developed from the known inhibitors of both the targets using Accelrys Discovery Studio 2.5. The hits from the hLTA4H docking were filtered to match the chemical features of both the pharmacophore models. The compounds that resulted from the pharmacophore filtering were docked into the active site of hLTC4S and the hits those bind well at both the active sites and matched the pharmacophore models were identified as possible dual inhibitors for hLTA4H and hLTC4S enzymes. Reverse validation was performed to ensure the results of the study.  相似文献

Electron donor–acceptor interaction of the reverse micelle (RM) of TX-100 in CCl4 medium with a number of π-acceptors has been established by analysing the charge transfer (CT) absorption bands in the light of Mulliken's theory. Aggregation number (n) and operational critical micellisation concentration of the RM and formation constants of the RM–p-chloranil and RM-o-chloranil complexes have been determined by UV-visible spectrophotometry. Values of n thus obtained (20–30) are close to that of TX-100/cyclohexane dry reverse micelles determined by other methods and also to a theoretically calculated value of n for AOT/CCl4 dry RM.  相似文献

Multicellular tumor spheroid (MCTS) mimics microenvironment for tumor formation and provides predictive insight for in vivo tests. The hanging drop (HD) method of spheroid generation is cost effective, but it is limited by a long time duration for spheroid development and a low rate of formation of larger spheroids. Toward addressing those limitations, thermoresponsive copolymers with poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (p(NIPA)) backbone are developed, to be used as additives in the MCTS formation via HD method. Upon investigation it is found that in the presence of the polymer, robust and compact spheroids are formed in a short duration of 48 h. Larger spheroids (350–600 µm) can be formed by increasing the number of cells. Spheroids are characterized for their 3D shape and different cellular layers, and drug uptake study is done to prove the efficacy of the spheroids generated in drug screening.  相似文献

The extent of local excess or deficiency of a component solvent near the solute in a mixed binary solvent has been calculated using the Hall formalism for the Kirkwood-Buff equation. The possibility of calculation of the two solute-solvent Kirkwood-Buff parameters using the values is discussed. A model calculation using literature data for preferential solvation in mixed binary solvents is presented. The solute-solvent and solvent-solvent interactions and the relative size of the solvents are also shown to be relevant factors in determining the values.  相似文献
