We investigate the electronic properties of multiwalled carbon nanotubes both before and after acid treatment with concentrated sulphuric and nitric acids. Magnetic susceptibility measurements were performed using a SQUID magnetometer and show that there is a considerable enhancement in the density of states at the Fermi level. The data shows that the diamagnetic influence from the graphitic nanotubes dominates. We experimentally observe, after acid treatment, that the diamagnetic susceptibility remains unchanged at 5 K but notably decreases at 77 K. We propose the acid treatment has increased the Van Vleck paramagnetic contribution lowering the diamagnetic response from the π-electron orbital magnetisation. The Van Vleck paramagnetic contribution is finite-temperature dependent with a diminishing contribution at higher fields. 相似文献

The conditions under which uniform stability (uniform asymptotic stability) with respect to a part of the variables of the zero equilibrium position of a non-linear non-stationary system of ordinary differential equations signifies uniform stability (uniform asymptotic stability) of this equilibrium position with respect the other, larger part of the variables, which include an additional group of coordinates of the phase vector, are established. These conditions include the condition for uniform asymptotic stability of the zero equilibrium position of the “reduced” subsystem of the original system with respect to the additional group of variables. Since within the conditions obtained the stability with respect to the remaining unmeasured coordinates of the phase vector remains undetermined or is investigated additionally, partial zero-detectability of the original system occurs in this case, and the conditions obtained supplement the series of known results from partial stability theory. The application of the results obtained to problems of the partial stabilization of non-linear controlled systems, particularly to the problem of stabilizing an asymmetric rigid body relative to an assigned direction in an inertial space, is considered. Magnetism of Fe/Cr/Sn/Cr multilayers have been studied by the first-principles density-functional theory. Calculations by the full-potential linearized augmented plane waves (FP LAPW) and screened Korringa–Kohn–Rostoker (SKKR) methods have shown that two types of solutions may be found in these systems: a high-spin (HS) and a low-spin (LS) ones in accordance with the Cr magnetic moment magnitudes. In this work, we have concentrated our attention on the LS solution. The calculation has shown that the LS solution has a phase slip of antiferromagnetic ordering in Cr and is classified as an incommensurate spin density wave (ISDW). The dependence of the ISDW solution on the thickness of Cr, lattice parameter and boundary conditions has been investigated. 相似文献

The dispersion relation of magnetostatic waves tangentially magnetized to saturation ferrite film, with a “magnetic wall” condition (tangential component of microwave magnetic field is equal to zero) on one of the film surface and with a metal condition on the opposite surface is analyzed. The dispersion characteristics show that unidirectional magnetostatic waves appear in this structure: they can transfer energy in one direction only and fundamentally cannot transfer energy in the opposite direction. A new compactification of the variety of moduli of stable vector 2-bundles with Chern classes c 1 and c 2 is constructed for the case in which the universal family of stable sheaves with given values of invariants is defined and there are no strictly semistable sheaves. The compactification is a subvariety in the Hilbert scheme of subschemes of a Grassmann manifold with fixed Hilbert polynomial; it is obtained from the variety of bundle moduli by adding points corresponding to locally free sheaves on surfaces which are modifications of the initial surface.
