Polysaccharide microspheres (PAMs) from acetylated pullulan were designed for the long-term delivery of peptide/protein drugs, as an alternative to a PLGA depot system. Three kinds of samples were obtained according to their different degrees of acetylation (0.8(PA1), 1.5(PA2), 2.3(PA3) acetyl groups in one glucose unit in pullulan), and then utilized to prepare a microsphere via a water-in-oil-in-water (W1/O/W2) emulsion method. The mean particle size of PAMs was shown to be in a range between 35 and 110 μm, as determined by a particle size analyzer. In order to evaluate their potential as a depot for protein/peptide delivery, exenatide, a drug used for the treatment of type II diabetes, was employed. The encapsulation efficiency of exenatide in PAMs was 69.1%, 80.4%, and 90.3% in PAM 1, PAM 2, and PAM 3, respectively. Although the release of exenatide from the PLGA microspheres evidenced a fast and high-burst behavior, PAMs evidenced a sustained release profile for 21 days. After 16 days, the released peptide was found to have a molecular weight almost identical to that of native exenatide, indicating that the stability of the peptide in the PAMs was maintained. The tissue reaction evidenced by the PAM was characterized by minimal foreign body reaction and minimal configurations of immune cells such as neutrophils and macrophages, but that of the PLGA microspheres was characterized by relatively elevated inflammation. On the basis of these results, we have concluded that the PAM may provide new insights into the development of new protein/peptide depots in long-term delivery.  相似文献

Recently, the Heisenberg's uncertainty principle has been extended to incorporate the existence of a large (cut-off) length scale in de Sitter or anti-de Sitter space, and the Hawking temperatures of the Schwarzshild–(anti) de Sitter black holes have been reproduced by using the extended uncertainty principle. I generalize the extended uncertainty to the case with an absolute minimum length and compute its modification to the Hawking temperature. I obtain a general trend that the generalized uncertainty principle due to the absolute minimum length “always” increases the Hawking temperature, implying “faster” decay, which is in conformity with the result in the asymptotically flat space. I also revisit the black hole-string phase transition, in the context of the generalized uncertainty principle.  相似文献

An internal-type linear inductive antenna, which is referred to as “double comb-type antenna”, was used as a large-area inductively coupled plasma (ICP) source with a substrate area of 2,300 mm × 2,000 mm. The characteristics of the ICP source were investigated for potential applications to flat panel display (FPD) processing. The source showed higher power transfer efficiency at higher RF power and higher operating pressures. The power transfer efficiency was approximately 88.1% at 9 kW of RF power and a pressure of 20 mTorr Ar. This source showed increasing plasma density and improved plasma uniformity with increasing RF power at a given operating pressure. A plasma density >1.5 × 1011/cm3 and a plasma uniformity of approximately 11% was obtained at 9 kW of RF power and 15 mTor Ar using this internal ICP source, which is applicable to FPD processing.  相似文献

An amphiphilic comb‐like copolymer consisting of a poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) backbone and poly((oxyethylene)9 methacrylate) (POEM) side chains, PVC‐graft‐POEM was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization. This comb copolymer was complexed with LiCF3SO3 to form a solid polymer electrolyte. FTIR and FT‐Raman spectroscopy indicate that lithium salts are dissolved in the ion conducting POEM domains of microphase‐separated graft copolymer up to 10 wt % of salt concentration. Microphase‐separated structure of the materials and the selective interaction of lithium ions with POEM domains were revealed by transmission electron microscopy, wide angle X‐ray scattering, and differential scanning calorimetry. The maximum ionic conductivity of 4.4 × 10?5 S/cm at room temperature was achieved at 10 wt % of salt concentration, above which salts are present as less mobile species such as ion pairs and higher order ionic aggregates, as characterized by FT‐Raman spectroscopy. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, we propose a design method of guaranteed cost controllers for uncertain large-scale systems with time delays in subsystem interconnections using delayed feedback. Using the Lyapunov method, a linear matrix inequality (LMI) optimization problem is formulated to design a delayed feedback controller which minimizes the upper bound of a given quadratic cost function. Branch length similarity (BLS) entropy is defined in a network consisting of a single node and branches. In this study, we mapped the binary time-series signal to the circumference of the time circle so that the BLS entropy can be calculated for the binary time-series. We obtained the BLS entropy values for “1” signals on the time circle. The set of values are the BLS entropy profile. We selected the local maximum (minimum) point, slope, and inflection point of the entropy profile as the characteristic features of the binary time-series and investigated and explored their significance. The local maximum (minimum) point indicates the time at which the rate of change in the signal density becomes zero. The slope and inflection points correspond to the degree of change in the signal density and the time at which the signal density changes occur, respectively. Moreover, we show that the characteristic features can be widely used in binary time-series analysis by characterizing the movement trajectory of Caenorhabditis elegans. We also mention the problems that need to be explored mathematically in relation to the features and propose candidates for additional features based on the BLS entropy profile.  相似文献
