Quantal penetration through a (stationary) one-dimensional potential barrier is considered as a time evolution of an initially prepared wave packet. The large-time asymptotics of the process is concerned. Locality of the potential imposes certain analytical properties of the interaction amplitudes in the energy representation. The results are presented in terms of development of the phase-space (Wigner's) quasi-distribution. The phase-space evolution kernel is constructed, and it is shown that in the presence of a positive potential no part of the distribution is transported faster than the free particle. For the case of a small initial momentum uncertainty, the deformation of the coordinate density is considered, including a possible advance of its maximum, which would not mean any noncausal signal transport. We show that the spatial coherence of a partially incoherent light beam can be greatly enhanced through an energy-conserving interaction with an incoherent or a coherent dark spatial soliton. Computer simulations show that during this process a portion of the incoherent beam is trapped within the dark notch of the dark soliton, thus forming a sharp intensity spike. In this region the correlation length dramatically increases by at least 2 orders of magnitude.  相似文献

We show analytically, numerically, and experimentally that a transversely stable one-dimensional [(1+1)D] bright Kerr soliton can exist in a 3D bulk medium. The transverse instability of the soliton is completely eliminated if it is made sufficiently incoherent along the transverse dimension. We derive a criterion for the threshold of transverse instability that links the nonlinearity to the largest transverse correlation distance for which the 1D soliton is stable.  相似文献

We present the experimental observation of bound states in the continuum. Our experiments are carried out in an optical waveguide array structure, where the bound state (guided mode) is decoupled from the continuum by virtue of symmetry only. We demonstrate that breaking the symmetry of the system couples this special bound state to continuum states, leading to radiative losses. These experiments demonstrate ideas initially proposed by von Neumann and Wigner in 1929 and offer new possibilities for integrated optical elements and analogous realizations with cold atoms and optical trapping of particles.  相似文献

The local effect of the Josephson vortices on the vortex lattice melting process in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O(8+δ) crystals in the presence of an in-plane field H(ab) is studied by differential magneto-optical imaging. The melting process is found to commence along the Josephson vortex stacks, forming a mesomorphic phase of periodic liquid and solid lamellas, the direction and spacing of which are controlled by H(ab). The reduction of the local melting field H(m) along the Josephson vortex stacks is more than an order of magnitude larger than the reduction of the average bulk H(m) by HH(ab).  相似文献

This work focuses on differential magneto-optical two-dimensional imaging of the current distribution in a high-Tc superconducting Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 crystal having a region of 170 × 170 μm2 patterned with periodic blind antidots. By measuring the self-induced field of an applied current, we can map the current flow distribution within and at the edges of the patterned region. We detected three separate types of current flow within the patterned region, which correspond to three different arrangements of pancake vortices within and at the edges of the patterned region. At high temperatures the vortices delocalize from the antidots, presumably due to thermal fluctuations. However, at lower temperatures vortex pinning mechanisms become prominent, lowering the vortex mobility in the patterned region. There are two contributing mechanisms: bulk pinning by the patterned antidots and interface pinning due to an entry barrier into the patterned region. Each mechanism is dominant at different temperatures. From our experiments we see that the TH transition line from the bulk to the interface pinning and the vortex melting line in the pristine region coincide.  相似文献
