Non-accretive Schrödinger operators and exponential decay of their eigenfunctions

We consider non-self-adjoint electromagnetic Schrödinger operators on arbitrary open sets with complex scalar potentials whose real part is not necessarily bounded from below. Under a suitable sufficient condition on the electromagnetic potential, we introduce a Dirichlet realisation as a closed densely defined operator with non-empty resolvent set and show that the eigenfunctions corresponding to discrete eigenvalues satisfy an Agmon-type exponential decay.     

On weak* convergent sequences in duals of symmetric spaces of <Emphasis Type="Italic">τ</Emphasis>-measurable operators

It is shown that the pre-dual of a σ-finite von Neumann algebra has property (k) in the sense of Figiel, Johnson and Pelczyński [12]. This resolves in the affirmative an open question raised in [12]. It is shown further that a weakly sequentially complete symmetric space E of τ-measurable operators affiliated with a semifinite σ-finite von Neumann algebra has property (k).     

Rigged modules I: Modules over dual operator algebras and the Picard group

In a previous paper we generalized the theory of $W^{?}$-modules to the setting of modules over nonselfadjoint dual operator algebras, obtaining the class of weak^?-rigged modules. At that time we promised a forthcoming paper devoted to other aspects of the theory. We fulfill this promise in the present work and its sequel “Rigged modules II”, giving many new results about weak^?-rigged modules and their tensor products. We also discuss the Picard group of weak* closed subalgebras of a commutative algebra. For example, we compute the weak Picard group of $H^{\infty }(\mathbb{D})$, and prove that for a weak* closed function algebra A, the weak Picard group is a semidirect product of the automorphism group of A, and the subgroup consisting of symmetric equivalence bimodules.     

Malliavin calculus for regularity structures: The case of gPAM

Malliavin calculus is implemented in the context of Hairer (2014) [16]. This involves some constructions of independent interest, notably an extension of the structure which accommodates a robust, and purely deterministic, translation operator, in $L^2$-directions, between “models”. In the concrete context of the generalized parabolic Anderson model in 2D – one of the singular SPDEs discussed in the afore-mentioned article – we establish existence of a density at positive times.     

Lattices with Defining Relations Close to Distributivity

We consider the 3-generated lattices whose generators enjoy the defining relations of the type a∨(b∧c) = (a∨b)∧(a∨c). Moreover, if the lattice is finite then we obtain its diagram; otherwise, we prove that the corresponding lattice is infinite.     

A Geometric Characterization of a Class of Poisson Type Distributions

Tempered distributions on \(\mathbb {R}^{n}\) which have Dirac comb structure are characterized in terms of sparseness properties of its support and spectrum.     

Water distribution networks design under uncertainty

Water distribution networks are important systems that provide citizens with an essential public service which is crucial for the normal development of most basic activities of life. Despite many water distribution network problems have been extensively investigated in the literature, the presence of uncertainty in the data has often been neglected. This paper studies the challenging problem of designing an isolation system for water distribution networks under different failure scenarios. To solve the problem, three heuristic methods are presented and analyzed on a real case study taken from the literature. Numerical results show the merits of the suggested techniques for solving the problem.     

A family of models with blue sky catastrophes of different classes

A generalized model with bifurcations associated with blue sky catastrophes is introduced. Depending on an integer index m, different kinds of attractors arise, including those associated with quasi-periodic oscillations and with hyperbolic chaos. Verification of the hyperbolicity is provided based on statistical analysis of intersection angles of stable and unstable manifolds.
