The rheology and microstructure of two different cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) samples possessing different degrees of sulfation are studied over a broad concentration range of 1 to 15 wt%. CNC suspensions are isotropic at low concentration and experience two different transitions as concentration increases. First, they form chiral nematic liquid crystals above a first critical concentration where the samples exhibit a fingerprint texture and the viscosity profile shows a three-region behavior, typical of liquid crystals. By further increasing the concentration, CNC suspensions form gels above a second critical concentration, where the viscosity profile shows a single shear-thinning behavior over the whole range of shear rates investigated. It has been found that the degree of sulfation of CNC particles has a significant effect on the critical concentrations at which transitions from isotropic to liquid crystal and liquid crystal to gel occur. Rheological properties and microstructure of these suspensions have been studied using polarized optical microscopy combined with rheometry.  相似文献

The synthesis, characterization and X‐ray crystal structures of two 2‐naphthyl‐substituted pyrazoles ‐ 3‐(2‐naphthyl) pyrazole ( 1 ) and 5‐(2‐naphthyl)‐3‐trifluoromethyl‐pyrazole ( 3 ) ‐ are reported. In addition, the isolation and structural characterization of 5‐hydroxy‐3‐(2‐naphthyl)‐5‐trifluoromethyl‐4,5‐dihydropyrazole ( 2 ), an intermediate of the synthesis of 3 , is included. The unsteady natural convection flow of a viscous and incompressible fluid through a porous medium with high porosity bounded by a vertical infinite stationary plate in the presence of radiation has been investigated. The fluid is assumed to be a gray, emitting and absorbing radiation, but non-scattering medium. The effects of the radiation parameter, Grashof number and permeability parameter of the medium on the velocity field as well as the effects of the radiation parameter and Prandtl number on the temperature field have been included in the analysis.  相似文献

The quiescent crystallization of several polypropylenes (PPs) was examined using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Polarized Optical Microscopy (POM). The half‐times of crystallization were obtained from the DSC thermographs employing the Avrami/Nakamura equation to fit and predict crystallization kinetics under isothermal and nonisothermal conditions. The induction times under nonisothermal conditions were estimated from isothermal crystallization data and used in conjunction with the Nakamura model in order to capture the crystallization behavior of the studied PPs. The Avrami/Nakamura model is found to fit and predict the nonisothermal crystallization data of the various PPs well over a range of cooling rates supporting its use in the simulation of polymer processes of industrial relevance. POM was used in line with parallel plate rheometry (Anton Paar, MCR 502) under no flow conditions to study the shape and growth rate of crystals of various PP resins at different temperatures or cooling rates. The growth rate of crystals is impeded exponentially with increase of temperature. The various PP resins of different molecular architecture have shown different nucleation and growth rate characteristics behavior under similar processing conditions. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The chemical or electrochemical one-electron oxidation of the all-CuII complex [Cu3(mu3-O)(mu-pz)3X3]2- leads to its formally CuII2CuIII analogue (pz = pyrazolato anion; X = Cl- and PhCOO-). The product distribution in the dye-sensitized photooxygenation of α-terpinyl acetate and terpinen-4-ol is quite similar in solution, however, by zeolite Y confinement, is substantially influenced by the position of the remote polar substituents relative to the reacting double bond. New complexes of the general types HCo(NCS)3 ·nL, HCoX 2(NCS) ·nL and HCo(NCS)2I ·nL (whereX=Cl, Br, I;L=diethyl ether, pyridine, aniline;n=1.5, 2, 3, 3.5) have been prepared and characterized. The magnetic and spectroscopic data indicate that pseudotetrahedral [Co(NCS)3 L]?, [CoX 2(NCS)L]? and [Co(NCS)2IL]? anions are present in the solid pyridine and aniline compounds.  相似文献
