[Bmim]<Subscript>5</Subscript>[PNiW<Subscript>11</Subscript>O<Subscript>39</Subscript>]·3H<Subscript>2</Subscript>O an organic–inorganic hybrid as catalyst for one-pot pseudo-five-component synthesis of tetrazolyldiazepines

In this research, two heterogeneous organic–inorganic hybrid catalysts, [bmim]₃[PW₁₂O₄₀]·3H₂O and [bmim]₅[PNiW₁₁O₃₉]·3H₂O, have been prepared. The catalysts were fully characterized by several techniques such as elemental analyses, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermo-gravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscope and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis. Next, the hybrid catalysts have been used for the synthesis of functionalized diazepines containing tetrazole ring. Tetrazolyl-1H-spiro[benzo[b]cyclopenta[e][1,4] diazepines products were obtained in excellent yields and mild experimental conditions using [bmim]₅[PNiW₁₁O₃₉]·3H₂O as catalyst. This process was carried out via a one-pot, pseudo-five-component condensation reaction by means of a 1,2-diamine, isocyanide, TMSN3 and two molecules of a linear or cyclic ketone in methanol, at ambient temperature.     

Al(H2PO4)3 as an efficient and reusable catalyst for the multi-component synthesis of highly functionalized piperidines and dihydro-2-oxypyrroles

Extremely facile and efficient procedures have been developed for the synthesis of highly functionalized piperidines and dihydro-2-oxypyrroles via one-pot multi-component reactions in the presence of Al(H₂PO₄)₃ as a heterogeneous and eco-friendly catalyst under mild conditions. The multi-component reaction of aromatic aldehydes, aromatic amines, and β-keto esters catalyzed by Al(H₂PO₄)₃ in EtOH at room temperature provides highly functionalized piperidines in good to excellent yields. The structure as well as the relative stereochemistry of these functionalized piperidines was confirmed by single X-ray crystallographic analysis. The same catalyst was found useful for the synthesis of polyfuntionalized dihydro-2-oxypyrroles using a four-component reaction of amines, dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates and formaldehyde in MeOH at ambient temperature. It is found that the catalyst is recyclable and can be used up to five times without significant loss of its activity.     

Optical properties of some modified plant compound after 662 keV gamma radiation

Plant-isolated compounds, Osthol [7-methoxy-8-(3-methylbut-2-enyl) coumarin], were subjected to modification in the isopentenyl side chain to get an aldehyde of 2-methyl-4 (7-methoxy-2-oxo-2H-chromen-8-yl)-but-2-en-1-al. This modified compound was exposed to γ-radiation produced by ¹³⁷Cs source at room temperature. Pre- and post-irradiation study was carried out by ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy. The compound shows a sharp absorption peak at 322?nm. This observed absorption band decreases with irradiation up to a certain dose and then increases with a further increase in the radiation dose. This compound exhibits almost a linear response up to 7?Gy. From the optical data analysis, this compound follows indirect allowed transition and the optical gap was found around 3.58?eV. The systematic decrease in the band gap was found with an increase in the radiation dose. Urbach energy is also found to decrease with radiation. This parameter gives a clear indication of the defects and free radical created in the system after irradiation. The present features shown by this compound may be exploited as sensitive dosimeter in 0–7?Gy γ-radiation environment.     

Elementary quadratic chaotic flows with no equilibria

Three methods are used to produce a catalog of seventeen elementary three-dimensional chaotic flows with quadratic nonlinearities that have the unusual feature of lacking any equilibrium points. It is likely that most if not all the elementary examples of such systems have now been identified.     

Exploring the interaction between “site-markers,aspirin and esterase-like activity” ternary systems on the human serum albumin: direct evidence for modulation of catalytic activity of the protein in different inhibition modes

Albumin which is the most abundant drug carrier protein in plasma controls the distribution aspect of drug pharmacokinetics. The aim of this study has been to elucidate the concurrent binding behavior of indomethacin/ibuprofen/heme to HSA under the effect of aspirin-mediated protein acetylation and also to explore the esterase-like catalytic property of the unmodified/modified proteins, as binary or ternary systems, by using various spectroscopic and molecular docking techniques. We found that aspirin-based modification of HSA affects the protein conformation as well as ligand binding at sites I–III. Decrease in pNPA-mediated esterase activity of HSA in different reversible inhibition modes, upon the protein–ligand interactions, was also documented, an issue that may receive considerable attention for computational prodrug design in near future.     

A novel four- and pseudo-five-component reaction: unexpected efficient one-pot synthesis of 4<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>-thiopyran derivatives

A facile and convenient novel method is reported for the synthesis of substituted 4H-thiopyrans by reacting aldehydes, malononitrile, carbon disulfide, and primary amines at room temperature in the presence of triethylamine as a catalyst. This reaction affords the desired products in high purity and has advantages of excellent yields, simple work-up procedure, and short reaction time.     

On the Strong Convergence of Halpern Type Proximal Point Algorithm

The main result of this paper is to prove the strong convergence of the sequence generated by the proximal point algorithm of Halpern type to a zero of a maximal monotone operator under the suitable assumptions on the parameters and error. The results extend some of the previous results or give some different conditions for convergence of the sequence. It is also indicated that when the maximal monotone operator is the subdifferential of a convex, proper, and lower semicontinuous function, the results extend all previous results in the literature. We also prove the boundedness of the sequence generated by the algorithm with a weak coercivity condition defined in the paper and without any additional assumptions on the parameters.     

A convenient method for 14C-labeling of 2-methylthio-1-[4-N-α-ethoxycarbonylbenzyl)-amino-benzyl]-5-hydroxymethyl-2-[14C]-1H-imidazole and 1-[4-N-α-ethoxy-carbonylbenzyl)-aminobenzyl]-5-hydroxymethyl-2-[14C]-1H-imidazole as potential antihypertensives

The key synthetic intermediate, (2-mercapto-1-(4-nitrobenzyl)-1H-imidazol-5-yl)methanol-[2-¹⁴C], has been synthesized by using one pot procedure from potassium[¹⁴C]-thiocyanate. It was converted to two nonpeptide angiotensin II receptor antagonists, 2-methylthio-1-[4-N-α-ethoxycarbonyl benzyl)-aminobenzyl]-5-hydroxymethyl-1H-imidazole-[2-¹⁴C] and 1-[4-N-α-ethoxy-carbonylbenzyl)-aminobenzyl]-5-hydroxymethyl-1H-imidazole-[2-¹⁴C] via a 3-step sequence synthetic pathway.     

Synthesis of new phosphonato esters by reaction between triphenyl or trialkyl phosphite and acetylenic diesters in the presence of NH‐containing compounds

The reaction between triphenyl or trialkyl phosphite and acetylenic esters in the presence of some heterocyclic or aromatic NH compounds such as thiazolidine‐2,4‐dione, 2‐methyl indole, 5‐bromoisatine, 3‐nitroacetanilide, saccharin, 5,5‐dimethylhydantoin, 2‐nitroaniline, 4‐nitroaniline, benzophenon hydrazine, and anthranilic acid led to the formation of phosphonato esters in high yield. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
