A method is described for the qualitative and semi-quantitative simultaneous determination of both non-macrocyclic and macrocyclic trichothecene biotoxins from samples derived from indoor environments. The method includes extraction, sample pre-treatment and reversed-phase HPLC separation followed by tandem mass spectrometric identification and quantification using electrospray ionization on a quadrupole ion trap mass analyser. Aqueous methanol was used in the initial extraction and solvent partitioning and solid-phase extraction in the purification of samples. The HPLC separation was run on-line with electrospray ionization MS-MS detection. The detection limits and recoveries of the procedure varied from 1 to 1000 pg and from 31 to 92%, respectively. As the method includes few and not very labour intensive sample treatment steps, it should allow for a high throughput of samples with good prospects of automation.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a photoactive material with various interesting and useful properties. One of those is the perfect wettability of TiO2 surface after ultraviolet (UV) illumination. Wettability of a solid surface plays an important role in the field of printing, coating, and adhesion among others. Here we report on a superhydrophobic and photoactive liquid flame spray (LFS) generated TiO2 nanoparticle coating that can be applied on web-like materials such as paper and board in one-step roll-to-roll process. The LFS TiO2 nanoparticle coated paper and board were superhydrophobic instantly after the coating procedure because of spontaneously accumulated carbonaceous overlayer on TiO2, and thus there was no need for any type of separate hydrophobization treatment. The highly photoactive LFS TiO2 nanoparticle coating could be converted steplessly from superhydrophobic to superhydrophilic by UV-illumination, and the coating gave strong response to natural daylight illumination even in the shade. The superhydrophobic LFS TiO2 coated surface can be used as an intelligent substrate, where photo-generated hydrophilic patterns guide the fluid setting and figure formation. Our study reveals that the wettability changes on the LFS TiO2 surface were primarily caused by the photocatalytic removal of the carbonaceous material from TiO2 during the UV-illumination and spontaneous accumulation of the carbonaceous material on the surface of the metal oxide during storage in the dark. The latter mechanism was found to be a temperature activated process which could be significantly speeded up by heat treatment. If other mechanisms such as surface oxidization, increment of hydroxyl groups, or charge separation played a role in the wetting phenomena on TiO2, their effect was rather secondary as the removal and accumulation of the carbonaceous material dominated the wettability changes on the surface. Our study gives valuable information on the complex issue of photo-induced wettability changes on TiO2.  相似文献

Surface wetting/anti-wetting and liquid absorption are relevant properties of many porous solids including paper and other cellulose-based materials. Here we demonstrate how surface wetting by water and water absorption of commercially available kraft paper can be altered by thin nanoparticle coatings fabricated by liquid flame spray in facile and continuous one-step process. Surface wettability and absorption properties of paper increased with silica and decreased with titania (TiO2) nanoparticle coatings. Moreover, the water-repellent (superhydrophobic) TiO2 nanoparticle coated paper could be switched to superhydrophilic and water absorbing by ultraviolet illumination. The experiments revealed that although surface wetting and liquid absorption of nanoparticle coated paper are strongly related to each other, they are two distinct phenomena which do not necessarily correlate. We propose wetting regimes on the nanoparticle coated paper samples on the basis of the experimental observations.  相似文献

We point out the need for Behavioral Operational Research (BOR) in advancing the practice of OR. So far, in OR behavioral phenomena have been acknowledged only in behavioral decision theory but behavioral issues are always present when supporting human problem solving by modeling. Behavioral effects can relate to the group interaction and communication when facilitating with OR models as well as to the possibility of procedural mistakes and cognitive biases. As an illustrative example we use well known system dynamics studies related to the understanding of accumulation. We show that one gets completely opposite results depending on the way the phenomenon is described and how the questions are phrased and graphs used. The results suggest that OR processes are highly sensitive to various behavioral effects. As a result, we need to pay attention to the way we communicate about models as they are being increasingly used in addressing important problems like climate change.  相似文献

Using positron annihilation measurements we observed the formation of thermal vacancies in highly As and P doped Si. The vacancies start to form at temperatures as low as 650 K and are mainly undecorated at high temperatures. Upon cooling the vacancies form stable vacancy-impurity complexes such as V-As3. We determine the vacancy formation energy of E(f)=1.1(2) eV and the migration energy of E(m)=1.2(1) eV in highly doped Si. By associating these values with the vacancy-impurity pair, we get an estimate of 2.8(3) eV for the formation energy of an isolated neutral monovacancy in intrinsic Si.  相似文献

Background  

Growth hormone (GH) plays an incompletely understood role in the development of the central nervous system (CNS). In this study, we use transgenic mice expressing a growth hormone antagonist (GHA) to explore the role of GH in regulating postnatal brain, spinal cord and body growth into adulthood. The GHA transgene encodes a protein that inhibits the binding of GH to its receptor, specifically antagonizing the trophic effects of endogenous GH.  相似文献

We have used positron annihilation spectroscopy to determine the nature and the concentrations of the open volume defects in as-grown and electron irradiated (E(el)=2 MeV, fluence 6 x 10(17) cm(-2)) ZnO samples. The Zn vacancies are identified at concentrations of [V(Zn)] approximately 2 x 10(15) cm(-3) in the as-grown material and [V(Zn)] approximately 2 x 10(16) cm(-3) in the irradiated ZnO. These concentrations are in very good agreement with the total acceptor density determined by temperature dependent Hall experiments. Thus, the Zn vacancies are dominant acceptors in both as-grown and irradiated ZnO.  相似文献

Generic computer simulations using empiric interatomic potentials suggest a new, collective mechanism that could be responsible for mixing at heteroepitaxial interfaces. Even if single adsorbate atoms diffuse by hopping on the substrate surface and do not mix at the terraces, two-dimensional islands formed by nucleation may become unstable above a certain critical size and explode upwards forming clusters of several atomic layers. This process is accompanied by strong distortions of the underlying atomic layers, and on soft materials it can result in surface etching and incorporation of substrate atoms into the islands.  相似文献
