Mass spectra of arylalkylpyridines

The basic principles of the mass-spectral fragmentation of arylalkylpyridines that contain substituents in various positions were established. Mössbauer study of hydrothermally-treated ferrosilica gels

Mössbauer spectroscopy and x-ray phase analysis have been used to examine the structural states and grain sizes of the iron-bearing phase in ferrosilica gels in the initial state and after hydrothermal treatment at 673 K. The component ratio has a substantial effect on the phase composition. Structure and thermodynamics of hydrocarbon liquids: Computer simulation based on rism theory

A system of Ornstein-Zernike integral equations is solved numerically to determine the heats of vaporization ΔH_V of liquid ethane, propane, and n-butane. It is shown that the calculations (the deformations of valence bonds and bond angles in the liquid-phase molecules are ignored) give rather accurate values of ΔH_V, which are in agreement with the corresponding experimental data. On the other hand, it is established that if there are intramolecular rotational degrees of freedom, ΔH_V depends on the angle of internal rotation ϕ. The function ΔH_V(ϕ) is minimum for trans-conformations (ϕ=0) and maximum for cis-conformations (ϕ=180°). Hence, intermolecular interactions stabilize compact (convolute) conformations. Thermodynamics of condensation of phthalonitrile with m-phenylenediamine

Conclusions The reaction of phthalonitrile condensation with m-phenylenediamine is thermodynamically allowed at temperatures from 250° to 500°K, and its equilibrium is almost completely shifted toward the formation of the macroheterocycle.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 4, pp. 779–787, April, 1984.     

Brillouin scattering and rotation translation coupling of (KCN)xX1−x mixed crystals

Brillouin scattering is used to study the concentration and temperature dependence of longitudinal and transverse phonon frequencies of KCN_χBr_1?χ, KCN_χC1_1?χ, and KCN_0.85I_0.15 mixed crystals. Unlike pure KCN, mixed crystals with χ < 0.7 show no phase transition upon cooling, and the transverse acoustic frequency ω_TA(110) displays a minimum at some characteristic temperature T_i.T_i is below the phase transition of pure KCN and depends on the C1^? concentration. The Brillouin data are discussed in terms of coupling of the acoustic phonons with orientational motion of CN^? ions and mean field theory.
