The experimental evaluation of the separated and coupled rotating desiccant wheel and heat wheel is reported. The study aims to investigate the performance of the desiccant wheel and of the heat wheel both when operated separately and jointly. The performance evaluation of the desiccant wheel is based on its moisture removal capacity (MRC), moisture removal regeneration (MRR), and moisture mass balance (MMB). In addition, the study used the total energy balance (TEB), sensible coefficient of performance (COPSensible), latent coefficient of performance (COPLatent) and, total coefficient of performance (COPTotal). The performance of the heat wheel is based on its effectiveness. The COPSensible, COPLatent and, COPTotal are used in the performance evaluation of the coupled desiccant wheel and heat wheel. The general results of the study show that the MRC, MRR and MMB coupled with the TEB, COPLatent, COPSensible and COPTotal predict adequately the performance of the desiccant wheel. In addition, the coupled operation of the desiccant wheel and heat wheel, contributed to the reduction of the external thermal energy requirement for the regeneration of the desiccant wheel. This study can be applied in other researches seeking evaluation of the desiccant wheel, heat wheel, and their combined operation. Moreover, the data presented here are significant for the desiccant wheel benchmarking and for evaluation of the desiccant wheel models.  相似文献

Abstract

Reported are the electronic and resonance Raman (rR) spectra of a multibridged iron porphyrin derived from meso-tetra(4-pyridil)porphynate iron(II) by complexing the pyridine residues with [RuII(edta)]2- ions. The polymetallated system exhibits the characteristic Soret band at 428 nm (log ε = 5.2) and a shoulder around 465 nm (4.6). The rR enhancement of the porphyrin vibrational modes is similar to those previously reported for typical porphyrins; however, an additional feature appears around 465 nm, associated with the selective enhancement of some pyridine vibrational modes. Based on the rR excitation profiles the absorption band at 465 nm was assigned to a RuII-to-pyridine dπ→Pπ? charge-transfer transition.  相似文献

The Cooks kinetic method has been very convenient to correlate the relative dissociation rates obtained by collision-induced fragmentation experiments with the energies of two related bonds in molecules and complexes in the gas phase. Reliable bond energy data are, however, not always available, particularly for polynuclear transition-metal complexes, such as the triruthenium acetate clusters of the general formula [Ru(3) (micro(3)-O)(micro-CH(3)COO)(6)(py)(2)(L)](+), where L = ring substituted N-heterocyclic ligands. Accordingly, their gas-phase collision-induced tandem mass spectrometry (CID MS/MS) dissociation patterns have been analyzed pursuing a relationship with the more easily accessible redox potentials (E(1/2)) and Lever's E(L) parameters. In fact, excellent linear correlations of ln(1/2A(L)/A(py)), where A(py) and A(L) are the abundance of the fragments retaining the pyridine (py) and L ligand, respectively, with E(1/2) and E(L) were found. This result shows that those electrochemical parameters are correlated with bond energies and can be used in the analysis of the dissociation data. Such modified Cooks method can be used, for example, to determine the electronic effects of substituents on the metal-ligand bonds for a series of transition-metal complexes.  相似文献

We consider the problem of constructing functional regression models for scalar responses and functional predictors, using Gaussian basis functions along with the technique of regularization. An advantage of our regularized Gaussian basis expansions to functional data analysis is that it creates a much more flexible instrument for transforming each individual’s observations into functional form. In constructing functional regression models there remains the problem of how to determine the number of basis functions and an appropriate value of a regularization parameter. We present model selection criteria for evaluating models estimated by the method of regularization in the context of functional regression models. The proposed functional regression models are applied to Canadian temperature data. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to examine the efficiency of our modeling strategies. The simulation results show that the proposed procedure performs well especially in terms of flexibility and stable estimates.  相似文献

Stepwise condensation reactions of 2,6-dihydroxynaphthalene-1,5-dicarbaldehyde and a phenylenediamine with concomitant binding of metal ions afforded a trinuclear complex of a fully π-conjugated, fused salphen ligand. By changing the synthetic pathway, we obtained a series of homo- and heteronuclear complexes containing selected combinations of nickel(II) and zinc(II) ions. Comparison of the trinuclear complexes' spectroscopic features with those of analogous dinuclear complexes revealed that the absorption spectrum of each trinuclear complex is composed of a salphen-centered absorption at 400 nm and a naphthalene-centered absorption around 500-600 nm, suggesting that the π-conjugated system is divided into several compartments, each of which independently undergoes electronic excitation. Molecular orbital calculations revealed that the formal fusion of the salphen moieties increases the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) level by ~0.4 eV, which in turn causes the low-energy absorption observed in the spectra. In contrast, interorbital interactions mediated by the N(2)O(2) metal coordination site are small, even though this site is bridged by an o-phenylene linkage. These results suggest that the coordination site effectively breaks electronic communication between the compartments, which in turn affect various spectroscopic properties of the π-conjugated metallo-polysalphens.  相似文献

The enzyme assay in a femtoliter chamber array is a simple and efficient method for concentrating the reaction product; it greatly improves the detection sensitivity down to the single-molecule level. However, in previous methods, controlling the initiation and termination of the reaction in each chamber is difficult once enclosed. Furthermore, the recovery of the enzyme and product is also difficult. To overcome these drawbacks, we developed a femtoliter droplet array in which the individual droplets are fixed on the substrate and are directly accessible from outside. A hydrophilic-in-hydrophobic micropatterned surface was used for the preparation of the droplets. When the aqueous solution on the surface is exchanged with oil, the hydrophilic surface retains the aqueous solution, and more than 10(6) dome-shaped droplets that are usable for further assay can be prepared simultaneously. The curvature radius of the droplet obeys the Young-Laplace equation, and the volume can be precisely controlled by the micropipette, which applies pressure into the droplet. Changing the pressure makes the addition, collection, and exchange of the aqueous content for individual droplets possible. Using these advantages, we successfully measured the kinetic parameters of the single-molecule enzyme β-galactosidase and rotary motor protein F(1)-ATPase enclosed in a droplet.  相似文献

We report a site selective Cu-NMR study on underdoped Hg-based five-layered high-Tc cuprate HgBa2Ca4CU5O(12+delta) with a Tc = 72 K. Antiferromagnetism (AFM) has been found to take place at T(N) = 290 K, exhibiting a large antiferromagnetic moment of 0.67-0.69 microB at three inner planes (IP). This value is comparable to the values reported for nondoped cuprates, suggesting that the IP may be in a nearly nondoped regime. Most surprisingly, the AFM order is also detected with M(AFM)(OP) = 0.1 microB even at two outer planes (OP) that are responsible for the onset of superconductivity (SC). The high-Tc SC at Tc = 72 K can uniformly coexist on a microscopic level with the AFM at OP's. This is the first microscopic evidence for the uniform mixed phase of AFM and SC on a single CuO2 plane in a simple environment without any vortex lattice and/or stripe order.  相似文献

Telomerase has been proposed as a selective target for cancer chemotherapy. We established a forward chemical genetics approach using a yeast strain with shortened telomere length. Since this strain rapidly enters cell senescence in the absence of active telomerase, compounds that induce selective growth defects against telomere-shortened yeast could be candidates for drugs acting on telomeres and telomerase. We screened our microbial products library and identified three structurally unrelated antibiotics, chrolactomycin, UCS1025A, and radicicol, as active compounds. Detailed analysis showed that chrolactomycin inhibited human telomerase in a cell-free assay as well as in a cellular assay. Long-term culture of cancer cells with chrolactomycin revealed population-doubling-dependent antiproliferative activity accompanied by telomere shortening. These results suggest that chrolactomycin is a telomerase inhibitor, and that the yeast-based assay is useful for discovering the small molecules acting on human telomerase.  相似文献
