In this paper, we investigate the performance of two implementable test scheduling schemes for a multi-access communication channel whose components are subject to failure or malfunction. We relate the reliability of the system design, as reflected by system failure rate parameters, and the frequency at which the system (or nodal subsystem) is tested for failure detection, to the underlying key message delay and throughput performance. We derive queue-size distribution results for a discreteGeom (X)/D/1 system, representing the operation of the multi-access channel, or of a network node operating as a communications or queueing processor, which is maintained by a periodic or near periodic test scheduling scheme. Explicit formulas are presented for the system behavior as exhibited by the generating functions of the system queue-size distributions. The mean message delay is then calculated. The mean delay (or mean system size/workload performance index) can then be optimized by selecting the proper scheme parameters, under specified system (and component) failure conditions, noting that performing a test at too high a rate leads to inefficient system bandwidth utilization, while if tests are not carried out often enough, excessive message (or task) retransmissions and delays ensue.  相似文献

This study is concerned with the modeling of interphases in elastic media in general, and in composite materials in particular. The aim is to replace a boundary value problem consisting of a three-phase configuration, say that of fiber-interphase-matrix, by a simpler problem which involves the fiber and matrix only, plus certain matching conditions which simulate the interphase. The simplest of such known representations replaces a thin interphase by a “perfect contact interface” (a single surface) across which the displacements and tractions are assumed to be continuous. Another classical model replaces a thin and soft interphase by a “spring-type interface”, across which the tractions are continuous, but the displacement field undergoes a discontinuity. In the present paper, a Cosserat shell model of the interphase is derived which successfully models the original interphase in a unified manner, for the full range of its material parameters relative to those of the neighboring media. The model is derived in the setting of three-dimensional linear elasticity with small deformations and displacements. Comparisons with an existing exact solution of a coated fiber in an infinite matrix show that it performs extremely well even for moderately thick interphases.  相似文献

A diastereoconvergent formal nucleophilic substitution of bromocyclopropanes with oxygen- and sulfur-based nucleophiles is described. The reaction proceeds via in situ formation of a highly reactive cyclopropene intermediate and subsequent diastereoselective addition of a nucleophile across the strained C═C bond. Three alternative means of controlling the diastereoselectivity of addition have been demonstrated: (1) thermodynamically driven epimerization of enolizable carboxamides, (2) steric control by bulky substituents, and (3) directing effect of carboxamide or carboxylate functions.  相似文献

Stab-resistant body armor can effectively prevent sharp instruments from attacking the protected parts and reduce the threat to human bodies. Shear thickening fluid (STF) is a kind of smart material with variable viscosity and its viscosity can change significantly with external stimuli. The soft and adaptive characteristics of STF provide a new idea for improving the performance of stab-proof materials. In this work, three kinds of soft anti-stabbing materials were designed and prepared with aramid, poly–p–phenylene benzodioxazole (PBO), and carbon fiber fabrics impregnated with STF. Quasi-static puncture tests and dynamic impact tests were conducted to compare the performance of different anti-stabbing structures. The results showed that the peak piercing force of the STF-treated fabrics in the puncture testing was greatly increased than that of neat samples. Against the D2 knife, the maximum impact load of STF/PBO fiber fabric was increased from 55.8 N to 72.9 N, increasing by 30.6%. Against the D3 spike, the maximum impact load of STF/aramid fabric was increased from 128.9 N to 254.7 N, increasing by 197.6%. The mechanical properties of fibers were important factors for the resistance to knives, and the fabric structure was the key point to bear the spike. Optical photographs of fabric fractures and scanning electron microscope analysis indicated that the STF effectively limited the slip of the fiber bundle when the tool penetrated the fabric, which played a positive role in maintaining the tightness and integrity of the fabric structure.  相似文献

Nitroalkanes activated with polyphosphoric acid serve as efficient electrophiles in reactions with various nucleophilic amines. Strategically placed second functionality allows for the design of annulation reactions enabling preparation of various heterocycles.
