From laser-induced line narrowing to electro- magnetically induced transparency: closed system analysis 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The laser-induced line-narrowing effect, discovered more than thirty years ago, can also be applied to recent studies in high
resolution spectroscopy based on electromagnetically induced transparency. In this paper we first present a general form of
the transmission width of electromagnetically induced transparency in a homogeneously broadened medium. We then analyze a
Doppler broadened medium by using a lorentzian function as the atomic velocity distribution. The dependence of the transmission
linewidth on the driving field intensity is discussed and compared to the laser-induced line-narrowing effect. This dependence
can be characterized by a parameter which can be regarded as “the degree of optical pumping.”

The shapes of invariant differential cross section for identified $\pi ^{\pm },K^{\pm }, p$ and $\overline{p}$ production as a function of transverse momentum measured in $pp$ collisions by the PHENIX detector are analyzed in terms of a recently introduced approach. Simultaneous fits of these data to the sum of exponential and power-law terms show a significant difference in the exponential term contributions. This effect qualitatively explains the observed shape of the experimental $K/\pi $ and $p/\pi $ yield ratios measured as a function of transverse momentum of produced hadrons. A picture with two types of mechanisms for hadron production is presented. Universality of the power-law term behavior for $\pi ^{\pm },K^{\pm }, p$ , and $\overline{p}$ production is shown. 相似文献

We have studied the selective reflection from glass-rubidium vapor interface at a large incidence angle in pump-probe experiment.
The linear reflectivity can be more than 0.9 in a narrow spectral range (several GHz) at the blue side of the atomic resonance.
The effect can be called the reduced total selective reflection. The reflectivity has been decreased two times due to the
optical saturation. The obtained results can be used to develop a variable optical filter or optical switcher. Our estimations
show that switching time can be less than the natural lifetime of the excited state. We suggested a multi-reflection scheme
to increase the contrast of the variable spectral filter. 相似文献

We present an experimental and theoretical study of phase-dependent interference effects in multi-photon excitation under bichromatic radio-frequency (rf) field. Using an intense rf pulse, we study the interference between the three-photon and one-photon transition between the Zeeman sub-levels of the ground state of 87Rb that allows us to determine the carrier-envelope phase of the fields even for long pulses. 相似文献

We have studied the intensity correlations between two orthogonally linearly polarized components of a laser field propagating through a resonant atomic medium. These experiments have been performed in a rubidium atomic vapor. We observe that the correlations between the orthogonally polarized components of the laser beam are maximal in the absence of a magnetic field. The magnitude of the correlations depends on the applied magnetic field, and the magnitude first decreases and then increases with increasing magnetic field. Minimal correlations and maximal rotation angles are observed at the same magnetic fields. The width of the correlation function is directly proportional to the excited state lifetime and inversely proportional to the Rabi frequency of laser field. 相似文献

The oxidation of (tmeda)Pt(II)(CH(3))(2) (1, tmeda = N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine) to (tmeda)Pt(IV)(OH)(OCH(3))(CH(3))(2) (3) by dioxygen in methanol proceeds via a two-step mechanism. The initial reaction between (tmeda)Pt(CH(3))(2) and dioxygen yields a hydroperoxoplatinum(IV) intermediate, (tmeda)Pt(OOH)(OCH(3))(CH(3))(2) (2), which reacts with a second equivalent of (tmeda)Pt(CH(3))(2) to afford the final product 3. Both 2 and 3 have been fully characterized, including X-ray crystallographic structure determinations. The effect of ligand variation on the oxidation of several dimethylplatinum(II) complexes by 2 as well as by dioxygen has been examined. 相似文献

We have theoretically studied the effects of quantum coherence in a driven quasi-degenerate two-level atomic system. We have shown that the quantum interference, which can be destructive or constructive, can be controlled by an externally applied magnetic field allowing one to implement both electromagnetically induced transparency and electromagnetically induced absorption in the same atomic system. Determined by frequency dispersion of the index of refraction of the system, the group velocity of light pulses ranges from ultra-slow to superluminal with changing of the magnitude of the magnetic field. 相似文献
