Massively parallel ionization of many atoms in a cluster or biomolecule is identified as a new phenomenon of light-matter interaction which becomes feasible through short and intense FEL pulses. Almost simultaneously emitted from the illuminated target the photo-electrons can have such a high density that they interact substantially even after photoionization. This interaction results in a characteristic electron spectrum which can be interpreted as a convolution of a mean-field electron dynamics and binary electron-electron collisions. We demonstrate that this universal spectrum can be obtained analytically by summing synthetic two-body Coulomb collision events. Moreover, we propose an experiment with hydrogen clusters to observe massively parallel ionization.  相似文献

Preparation of super-hard coatings by pulsed laser deposition   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Amorphous diamond-like carbon (DLC) films and nanocrystalline cubic boron nitride (c-BN) films were prepared by pulsed laser deposition. DLC films with 80 to 85% sp3 bonds prepared at a laser fluence above 6 J/cm2 and a substrate temperature below 100 °C show high compressive stresses in the range of 8 to 10 GPa. Those stresses can be completely removed by means of pulsed laser annealing, allowing the preparation of DLC films with several-micrometre thickness. c-BN films were prepared with additional ion-beam bombardment at a substrate temperature of 250 °C. Data from the NA31 experiment at CERN have been used to measure the branching ratio of the double Dalitz decay of the long-lived neutral kaon. Eight events have been found with negligible background. The measured distribution of the angle between the planes of the two e+e?-pairs favours aCP=?1 state for the long-lived neutral kaon.  相似文献

We present a general method for the linear least-squares solutionof overdetermined and underdetermined systems. The method isparticularly efficient when the coefficient matrix is quasi-square,that is when the number of rows and number of columns is almostthe same. The numerical methods for linear least-squares problemsand minimum-norm solutions do not generally take account ofthis special characteristic. The proposed method is based onLU factorization of the original quasi-square matrix A, assumingthat A has full rank. In the overdetermined case, the LU factorsare used to compute a basis for the null space of AT. The right-handside vector b is then projected onto this subspace and the least-squaressolution is obtained from the solution of this reduced problem.In the case of underdetermined systems, the desired solutionis again obtained through the solution of a reduced system.The use of this method may lead to important savings in computationaltime for both dense and sparse matrices. It is also shown inthe paper that, even in cases where the matrices are quite small,sparse solvers perform better than dense solvers. Some practicalexamples that illustrate the use of the method are included.  相似文献
