Polynuclear π-allyl complexes of palladium (II)

“Circular” photogalvanic effect in optically active crystals

A novel photogalvanic effect induced by a circular polarized light in tellurium has been found. The absorption of light propagating along the C-axis of the crystal creates a fast e.m.f. which is proportional to the degree of the circular polarization and exhibits a sign dependence on the direction of the polarization.

Crystal structure of two salts derived from paratungstate in the [H2W12O42]10− anion

Novel mixed salts of the paratungstate anion Na₂(NH₄)₈[H₂W₁₂O₄₂]·12H₂O (1) and Na_7.5K_2.5[H₂W₁₂O₄₂]··22.2H₂O (2) are obtained by slow concentration of tungstate solutions and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction.     

Near-barrier fusion of the ⁸B + ⁵⁸Ni proton-halo system

Fusion cross sections were measured for the exotic proton-halo nucleus ?B incident on a ??Ni target at several energies near the Coulomb barrier. This is the first experiment to report on the fusion of a proton-halo nucleus. The resulting excitation function shows a striking enhancement with respect to expectations for normal projectiles. Evidence is presented that the sum of the fusion and breakup yields saturates the total reaction cross section.     

Investigation of the 19Na nucleus via resonance elastic scattering

The structure of the unbound proton-rich isotope ¹⁹Na was studied in resonance elastic scattering of a radioactive ¹⁸Ne beam on a proton target using the thick-target inverse-kinematics method. The experiment covered the excitation energy range from 0.5 to 2.7 MeV in c.m.s. Only one state of ¹⁹Na (the second excited state) was observed. A combined R-matrix and potential model analysis was performed. The spin and parity assignment of this second excited state was confirmed to be 1/2⁺. We show that the position of the 1/2⁺ state significantly affects the reaction rate through that state, but the total reaction rate remains unchanged since the ¹⁸Ne(2p, γ) proceeds mostly via the ground and first excited states in ¹⁹Na at stellar temperatures.
