A thermodynamic model in order to study a single-component system where droplets or bubbles are inside smooth crevices is presented. Liquid-vapor interface curvature radius can change its sign as the droplet or bubble volume change. The results suggest that there is always dispersed phase inside smooth crevices of microscopic dimensions, even in the expected single-phase region. Thus, the occurrence of an anti-ripening phenomenon is predicted from a microscopic point of view; meanwhile the occurrence of a ripening phenomenon is energetically favorable at a macroscopic scale. The relevance of these results on the heterogeneous nucleation process is analyzed.  相似文献

Ultrasonic non-destructive testing systems designed to control huge structures normally use several transducers in the reception stage. To avoid increasing the cost of electronics, a multiplexer is used to send all received signals to the same processing module. Traditionally, transmission of such signals is carried out using copper cables. For special applications (i.e. continuous monitoring of nuclear plants) metallic cables are not suitable because of their high sensitivity to electromagnetic perturbations. Moreover, the multiplexing is made electronically. When the distance between the transducers and the reception unit is large and/or electromagnetic noise is important, signal degradation takes place. The proposed system implements the transmission and multiplexing of ultrasonic electrical signals obtained by means of broadband transducers (up to 1 MHz), using an optical fiber. Optical fibers are made of dielectric materials (silica or plastic) so they are inherently passive to electromagnetic noise. Wavelength division multiplexing is utilized for adding channels to the system by means of fiber optic couplers and different light sources. The wavelengths of the optical signals utilized are located far apart in the optical spectrum in order to avoid serious crosstalk in transmission. The limit to the number of multiplexed channels depends on the optical fiber selected, the spectrum of the light sources and the wavelength division multiplexers or couplers utilized.  相似文献

Nonlinear mechanical behavior of piezocomposites for ultrasonic transducers   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A comparative study is carried out between the nonlinear behavior of a composite and the piezoceramic used to obtain it. This characterization is necessary for using the composite in power transducer applications. A study of the losses and the resonator stiffness variations has also been done. Both these effects, as well as the possibility of the frequency hysteresis, show different behavior in the composites, since the increases in the ceramics are different from those in the composites. In this study two measurement methods are used: principally the motional impedance increase with the motional current measurements. The results obtained are normalized in order to make them independent of the resonator size, and thus make the comparison between the composite and the ceramic easier. The figure of the mechanical loss tangent tan delta m versus the mean strain shows that the losses can be greater in the ceramic than in the composite for soft ceramics. The dependence behavior of the losses and stiffness variations versus the mean strain is studied for both resonators.  相似文献

The present work reports for the first time results which demonstrate that the hydrogen oxidation reaction on platinum nanoparticles supported on gold and glassy carbon substrates displays a transition between the Tafel–Volmer route, which dominates at low overpotentials, and the Heyrovsky–Volmer route, predominant at high overpotentials.  相似文献

A novel design of a transversally pumped pulsed dye laser resonator using grazing incidence in a folded astigmatic cavity is described. The stability conditions, beam waist and output divergence of the oscillating mode are derived from the ray transfer matrix for this cavity. A diffraction limited gaussian beam is obtained. The linewidth can be adjusted down to 610 MHz without using any intracavity etalon.  相似文献

The acyclic diene metathesis (ADMET) polymerization of a phosphorus‐containing α,ω‐diene prepared from a plant oil derived building block is reported. Different ruthenium based metathesis catalysts and conditions were tested to optimize the ADMET polymerization of this monomer. Undecylenyl undecenoate was used as fully renewable comonomer to obtain polyesters with different phosphorus contents and to increase the renewable content of the final polymers. Copolymerization caused marked variations in the molecular weights leading to polyesters from 6 to 38 KDa. The effect of the ADMET polymerization temperature in the thermal properties of the copolymers was studied and their thermal degradation and flame retardant properties were evaluated. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A chlorinated side product was formed under Overman rearrangement conditions from a trichloroacetimidate along with the expected allylic amide. The chlorinated product derived from a hex-2-enopyranoside was obtained in a totally stereoselective manner, and it can be a useful synthetic intermediate for chlorinated sugars. In order to improve the isolated yields of either the expected Overman rearrangement product or the chlorinated compound, we carried out a thorough study on the experimental conditions. The application of the latter for the synthesis of potential calpain inhibitors is also reported.  相似文献

The degradation of an aliphatic-aromatic biodegradable polyester film was studied under conditions of solar exposure and soil burial in a tropical area. Film samples were evaluated for changes over 40 weeks by visual examination, scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, mechanical properties, molecular weight, gel content, and thermal properties. Photodegradation played a major role in the atmospheric degradation of the film, causing it to lose integrity and mechanical properties after week 8 due to main chain scission and crosslinking. SEM micrographs and FTIR spectra indicated that photodegradation started at the exposed side of the film and propagated through the polymer matrix after week 8. FTIR spectra also indicated that subsequent photooxidation processes took place. The reduction of molecular weight of the soil burial samples was much slower than that of the non-crosslinked portion of solar exposed film samples. The reduction of number average molecular weight of the non-crosslinked solar exposed samples followed a first order reaction, whereas the soil burial samples show a surface erosion biodegradation behavior. The relationship among total solar radiation, gel content and number average molecular weight indicated that an accumulated total solar radiation of 800 MJ/m2, reached in approximately 7 weeks at the exposure site, is required for PBAT mulch film integrity loss.  相似文献
