Complexes formed by substituted buckybowls derived from corannulene and sumanene with sodium cation or chloride anion have been computationally studied by using a variety of methods. Best results have been obtained with the SCS‐MP2 method extrapolated to basis set limit, which reproduces the highest‐level values obtained with the MP2.X method. All bowls form stable complexes with chloride anion, with stabilities ranging from ?6 kcal/mol in the methylated corannulene derivative to ?45 kcal/mol in the CN‐substituted sumanene. The opposite trend is observed in sodium complexes, going from deeply attractive complexes with the methylated derivatives (?36 kcal/mol with sumanene derivative) to slightly repulsive ones in the CN‐substituted bowls (2 kcal/mol in the corannulene derivative). Anion complexes are stabilized by large electrostatic interactions combined with smaller though significant dispersion and induction contributions. Conversely, cation complexes are stabilized by large induction contributions capable of holding together the bowl and the cation even in cases where the electrostatic interaction is repulsive. The effect of substitution is mainly reflected on changes in the molecular electrostatic potential of the bowl and, thus, in the electrostatic contribution to the interaction. Therefore, the variations in the stability of the complexes on substitution could be roughly predicted just considering the changes in the electrostatic interaction. However, other contributions also register changes mainly as a consequence of displacements on the position of the ion at the minimum, so the accurate prediction of the stability of this kind of complexes requires going further than the electrostatic approach. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 相似文献

Microcalorimetry is a technique that determines the heat flow produced as a result of microbial activities. The heat variations resulting from chemical reactions, which take place during metabolism, can be used to monitor bacterial growth in a culture medium. However, there are very few studies using calorimetry to investigate the relationships between two bacteria. In this work, we studied the interaction between E. coli and P. mirabilis, two bacteria belonging to the family Enterobacteriaceae. We have prepared three samples, mixing both enterobacteria at a concentration of 103 CFU mL?1 but in different proportions. Experimental equipment used was a Calvet microcalorimeter, where a constant temperature of 309.65 K was maintained. Then, we compared the shape of the heat flow–time curves of single microorganisms and their mixtures. Also, we calculated the thermokinetic parameters such as growth constant (k), generation time (G), detection time (t d) and the amount of heat released (Q). The results obtained showed that when E. coli and P. mirabilis were put together in the culture medium, the growth profile of P. mirabilis seemed to dominate, even at low proportions in the sample. 相似文献

A novel method for the continuous monitoring of thermooxidative degradation products of polystyrene by membrane extraction with sorbent interface (MESI) and gas chromatography (GC) is developed. The results are compared with solid-phase microextraction-GC, which can extract gases, vapors, and aerosols. The volatile and semivolatile degradation products are identified by mass spectrometry. The membrane used in the MESI-GC analysis shows a high permeation for volatile aromatic hydrocarbons; a low permeation for corresponding volatile aldehydes; and no permeation for less volatile alcohols, acids, and degradation products with a high molecular weight, thus reducing significantly the number of compounds detected from MESI-GC. Sensitivity of the method depends on the time of trapping, which is limited by the breakthrough of the trap. By heating the trap at fixed intervals of time, consecutive gas chromatograms are obtained. 相似文献

We show that the conformational features of the molecular complexes of E. coli beta-galactosidase and O-glycosides may differ from those formed with closely related compounds in their chemical nature, such as C- and S-glycosyl analogues. In the particular case presented here, NMR and ab initio quantum mechanical results show that the 3D-shapes of the ligand/inhibitor within the enzyme binding site depend on the chemical nature of the compounds. In this paper we will develop a methodology for obtaining pricing expressions for financial instruments whose underlying asset
can be described through a simple continuous-time random walk (CTRW) market model. Our approach is very natural to the issue
because it is based in the use of renewal equations, and therefore it enhances the potential use of CTRW techniques in finance.
We solve these equations for typical contract specifications, in a particular but exemplifying case. We also show how a formal
general solution can be found for more exotic derivatives, and we compare prices for alternative models of the underlying.

Nonresonant frequency tripling of ultraviolet (UV) radiation (λuv = 216–223 nm, generated by sum frequency mixing of the outputs of a frequency doubled pulsed dye laser and of the Nd-YAG pump laser) generates in neon coherent light in the extreme ultraviolet (XUV). The XUV radiation is tunable in spectral regions of negative dispersion λxuv = 72.05- 73.58 nm and λxuv = 74.3–74.36 nm at the high energy side of the transitions and . At UV input powers of 0.1-0.3 MW the generated XUV power was typically Pxuv = 0.1-0.4 W (1.5–6 x 108 photons/pulse). Ultrasonic transducers made with 1-3 connectivity piezocomposites are frequently used in Medical applications and nondestructive testing. When the transducer is used for special applications as, for instance air-coupled transmission, it is necessary to compensate for the high difference of acoustic impedance between transducer and medium using high amplitude pulses to generate high acoustic signal. Thus, the nonlinear behavior of the transducer must be taken into account in similar application conditions. The newly developed method, which performs the nonlinear characterization with burst signal excitation near the thickness resonance frequency, is based on the measure of the current as well as the vibration velocity of the piezocomposite transducer. The current of the stationary response is measured before the end of the burst signal excitation. Burst excitation enables us to measure the nonlinear characterization without producing overheating in the transducers. The amplitude level dependence of mechanical losses tandelta(m) and the stiffness increases |Deltac/c(0)| have been studied, as well as the velocity dependence of a point of the transducer, measured with a laser vibrometer. In this method, the power level applied to the transducers can be higher than other nonlinear measurement methods, providing measurements of high accuracy. 相似文献
