Dispersion relations and Omnès representations for $K\to \pi \pi$ decay amplitudes

We derive dispersion relations for decay, using the Lehmann-Symanzik-Zimmermann formalism, which allows the analytic continuation of the amplitudes with respect to the momenta of the external particles. No off-shell extrapolation of the field operators is assumed. We obtain generalized Omnès representations, which incorporate the and S-wave phase shifts in the elastic region of the direct and crossed channels, according to the Watson theorem. The contribution of the inelastic final-state and initial-state interactions is parameterized by the technique of conformal mappings. We compare our results with previous dispersive treatments and indicate how the formalism can be combined with lattice calculations to yield physical predictions. Homology equivalences inducing an epimorphism on the fundamental group and Quillen's plus construction

Quillen's plus construction is a topological construction that kills the maximal perfect subgroup of the fundamental group of a space without changing the integral homology of the space. In this paper we show that there is a topological construction that, while leaving the integral homology of a space unaltered, kills even the intersection of the transfinite lower central series of its fundamental group. Moreover, we show that this is the maximal subgroup that can be factored out of the fundamental group without changing the integral homology of a space.

     

Influence of Pretreatment of Expanded Graphite on Its Sorption Properties with Respect to Petroleum

Petroleum sorption on expanded graphite prepared from residual graphite hydrosulfate at 300-900°C was studied as influenced by pretreatment of the sorbent with water.     

Optical and photoelectric properties of helical quantum wires

The appearance of a steady current in a helical quantum wire under circularly polarized light is predicted. The effect is associated with the appearance of a travelling electromagnetic wave in the coordinate system related to the wire, the wavelength being determined by the period of the helix. The gyrotropy of a medium consisting of parallel quantum wires is considered.     

Determination of the rheological behavior of epoxy–amine thermosets by dynamic mechanical analysis: Isothermal methods versus nonisothermal methods

The reticulation process of an epoxy resin using an amine as a cure agent was studied at different temperatures and concentrations of the cure agent with dynamic mechanical thermal analysis. The study was performed under both isothermal and nonisothermal conditions, and a temperature–time–transformation diagram was obtained. The measurements from the two modes gave similar results, although the nonisothermal mode required fewer experiments. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numerical simulation of achromatic deflecting systems

A deflecting system formed by two parallel-plate capacitors on opposite sides of an optoelectronic element that alters the energy of a beam of charged particles, is calculated numerically. The conditions for correcting the chromatic beam spreading in the plane of the target are found. Good agreement with the results of an approximate analytical calculation is demonstrated. Zh. Tekh. PT violating single particle nuclear potential

We calculate aPT-odd one-loop meson radiative correction to the scattering amplitude of a nucleon on the external field of the nucleus. The nonrelativistic limit of this amplitude, Fourier transformed to the configuration space, can be interpreted as a single particlePT-odd potential for a valence nucleon. Bound state effects on this potential are evaluated and found to be negligible.
