The influence of the finite dimension of a chiral smectic C liquid crystal planar sample on the helical pitch length is discussed. The discussion is based on the properties of the disclination PH2 system described in Czech. J. Phys. B35 (1985) 655. It is concluded that the existence of the sample free surface can lead to pitch changes with respect to the pitch of a perfect infinite chiral smectic C liquid crystal.  相似文献

The energy dependent parameter characterizing the leading particle effect allows to restore the scaling in proton-proton and antiproton-proton multiplicity distributions from Serpukhov until highest available CERN \(S \bar ppS\) collider energies. The identification of theoretical second dispersions with the experimental ones represents one of the basic ingredients in the quantum statistical bosonic approach applied in the present contribution. The KNO scaling at the ISR energies as well as the Worblewski relation for the second dispersions at the \(S \bar ppS\) collider energies arise quite naturally; similar phenomena might appear at higher energies too. Some predictions for 2 and 10 TeV cms energies are specified.  相似文献

In our work single crystals of Mg4.5Na7(P2O7)4 were prepared, pulverized, pressed into pellets and sintered in order to measure the electrical conductivity of polycrystalline specimens. The conductivity was also measured on glassy specimens obtained by the melting of previously prepared crystals. The electrical conductivities at 25°C with values of the order of 10−16 Ω−1 cm−1 for polycrystalline samples and a value of the order of 10−14 Ω−1 cm−1 for glass, show that the glassy phase of Mg4.5Na7(P2 because of its greater molar volume and loosely packed structure, is a better matrix for ionic motion.  相似文献

The problem of calculation of Sturmian functions (positive energy Weinberg states) for nonlocal (exchange) interactions is considered. It is shown that the method of continued fractions proposed by Horáek and Sasakawa makes the calculation of Sturmian eigenfunctions and eigenvalues feasible even for complicated nonlocal interactions. As an example Sturmian functions and Sturmian eigenvalues for the low energy electron-hydrogen scattering in the static exchange approximation are calculated. In addition a very general proof of convergence of the method of continued fractions is presented.Dedicated to the memory of Professor Jozef Kvasnica.  相似文献

The properties of four-wave interaction via the nonlinear quantum vacuum is investigated. The effect of the quantum vacuum is to generate photons with new frequencies and wave vectors, due to elastic photon-photon scattering. An expression for the number of generated photons is derived, and using state-of-the-art laser data it is found that the number of photons can reach detectable levels. In particular, the prospect of using the high-repetition Astra Gemini system at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory is discussed. The problem of noise sources is reviewed, and it is found that the noise level can be reduced well below the signal level. Thus, detection of elastic photon-photon scattering may for the first time be achieved.  相似文献
