Sandwich-type transition metal complexes [(CBO)n]2M with carbon boronyl ligands (CBO)n (n=4–6)

A density functional theory investigation on a series of sandwich-type transition metal complexes [(CBO)_n]₂M (n=4–6; M=transition metals) with carbon boronyls (CBO)_n as effective aromatic ligands has been presented in this work at B3LYP level. The ground-states of these complexes possess staggered D_nd symmetries, while the corresponding eclipsed D_nh structures exist as transition states with slightly higher energies (within 5.8 kJ/mol). Carbon boronyl complexes [(CBO)_n]₂M are confirmed to be much more stable than their boron carbonyl isomers [(BCO)_n]₂M, which, on the other hand, take eclipsed ground-states with D_nh symmetries. The carbon boronyl complexes [(BCO)_n]₂M proposed in this work parallelize the well-known sandwich-type hydrocarbon complexes [C_nH_n]₂M in coordination chemistry with boronyl groups –BO isolobal to –H atoms in corresponding ligands.     

Dry etching of InGaP and AlInP in CH4/H2/Ar

Electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) plasma etching with additional rf-biasing produces etch rates 2,500 A/min for InGaP and AlInP in CH₄/H₂/Ar. These rates are an order of magnitude or much higher than for reactive ion etching conditions (RIE) carried out in the same reactor. N₂ addition to CH₄/H₂/Ar can enhance the InGaP etch rates at low flow rates, while at higher concentrations it provides an etch-stop reaction. The InGaP and AlInP etched under ECR conditions have somewhat rougher morphologies and different stoichiometries up to 200 Å from the sur face relative to the RIE samples.

Volumetric Properties of the Ternary System 1,4-Dioxane + Butyl Acrylate + Ethyl Acrylate and Its Binary Butyl Acrylate + Ethyl Acrylate at 298.15 K

Densities of the ternary system 1,4-dioxane + butyl acrylate + ethyl acrylate and its binary butyl acrylate + ethyl acrylate have been measured in the whole composition range, at 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure, using an Anton Paar DMA 5000 oscillating U-tube densimeter. The calculated excess molar volumes of the binary system are positive and were correlated with the Redlich–Kister equation and with a series of Legendre polynomials. Several models were used to correlate the ternary behavior from the excess molar volume data of their constituent binaries and were found equally good to fit the data. The best fit was based on a direct approach, without information on the component binary systems.     

Preparation and photochromic properties of oligomeric poly(dimethylsiloxane) with the spiropyran or spirooxazine moiety in the side chain

Spirobenzopyran 1 , with the 3-(diethoxymethylsilyl)-propyl group at the N atom, was synthesized. The condensation reaction of the spiropyran 1 and diethoxydimethylsilane gave oligomeric poly(dimethylsiloxane) with the spiropyran moiety in the side chain. The oligomer was photochromic; its colour changed from colorless to purple-red on uv irradiation and the color faded on visible irradiation or on standing in the dark. The half-decay time of the thermal decoloration was about twice that of monomeric spiropyran dissolved in the dimethylsiloxane oligomer. Photochromic poly(dimethylsiloxane) with the spirooxazine moiety in the side chain was also prepared.     

CF2HCI在金属钨表面上的反应动力学

The unimolecular reaction of CF_2HCl on W filament has been studied. This reaction shows zero order at rather high pressure. The temperature threshold is about 440 ℃. The apparent activation energy of this reaction is 119.7 kJ mol~(-1) which is about a half of the activation energy for homogeneous unimolecular reaction of CF_2HCl, 233.5 kJ mol~(-1).     

Dérivés de la dihydro-2,4 triazole-1,2,4 thione-3 et de l'amino-2 thiadiazole-1,3,4 à partir de nouvelles thiosemicarbazones d'esters

A new general synthesis of 4,5-disubstituted 2,4-dihydro-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiones is proposed. These heterocycles are obtained by the action of primary amines, arylhydrazines or aroylhydrazines on the thiosemicarbazones of eaters. These last compounds are prepared by action of chlorhydrates of iminoethers on thiosemicarbazide in dimethylformamide. These thiosemicarbazones react also with strong acids, acid anhydrides and chlorides; by thermolysis and they give 2-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives. Also, two derivatives of 1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-b]-1,3,4-thiadiazole have been prepared.     

An insight into the mechanisms of the phototoxic response induced by cyamemazine in cultured fibroblasts and keratinocytes

The phototoxicity of cyamemazine (CMZ, Tercian), a neuroleptic of the phenothiazine family, has recently been reported in humans. CMZ has an absorbance maximum at 267 nm (molar absorptivity, 25,800 M(-1) cm(-1)) but a weaker molar absorptivity in the ultraviolet A (UV-A) region. CMZ exhibits a fluorescence with maximum emission at 535 nm and a quantum yield of 0.11. CMZ is a powerful photosensitizing agent toward HS 68 human skin fibroblasts and NCTC 2544 keratinocytes. At a UV-A radiation dose of 10 J/cm2, innocuous to cells in the absence of CMZ, the LD50 (lethal dose corresponding to 50% killing) are 0.5 and 1 microM for the fibroblasts and the keratinocytes, respectively, after overnight incubation with the drug. Short incubation times do not significantly alter the LD50. The CMZ-induced phototoxicity is accompanied by lipid membrane peroxidation consistent with the amphiphilic character of this photosensitizer. Keratinocytes are an order of magnitude less sensitive to the photosensitized lipid peroxidation than fibroblasts. Microspectrofluorometry reveals that lysosomal membranes are major sites of CMZ incorporation into the two cell lines because a Forster-type resonance energy transfer process occurs from CMZ to LysoTracker Red DND99 (LTR), a specific fluorescent probe of lysosomal membranes. The CMZ-photosensitized destruction of LTR demonstrates that CMZ retains its photosensitizing capacity after its lysosomal uptake.     

Influence of drying procedure on the mesoporosity and surface fractal dimensions of silica xerogels prepared with different agitation methods

Silica xerogels were prepared by thermal drying wet gels in an electric oven (70 degrees C) after certain duration of ambient drying, and the relevant effect is investigated on the mesopore structures and surface fractal dimensions of the resultant xerogels. The silica gels were derived from a hydrochloric acid-catalyzed TEOS (tetraethylorthaosilicate) system, and both magnetic stirring and ultrasonic vibration were adopted during sol preparation. The percentage mesoporosity and surface fractal dimensions are evaluated using image analysis methods, based on FE-SEM (field emission gun-scanning electron microscopy) images. The results show that the mesoporosity of the resultant xerogels decreases with the duration of ambient drying for samples prepared using magnetic stirring and low-intensity ultrasonic vibration, while samples subjected to high-intensity ultrasound show a somewhat reverse trend. Samples prepared with magnetic stirring have almost constant surface fractal dimensions (nearly 3), irrespective of the ambient drying before thermal drying. The surface fractal dimensions of samples prepared using ultrasound increase with the duration of ambient drying.     

Synthesis, characterization and electrochemistry of diruthenium complexes linked by aryl acetylide bridges

The reactions between Ru₂(ap)₄Cl and the appropriate lithiated aryl acetylene resulted in the complexes Ru₂(ap)₄(CC4-C₆H₄CCX) with X as SiMe₃ (1), H (2) and Ru₂(ap)₄ (3), 1,3-[Ru₂(ap)₄(CC)]₂(C₆H₄) (4), 1,3-[{Ru₂(ap)₄(CC)}₂]C₆H₃5-CCH (5) and 1-[Ru₂(ap)₄(CC)]C₆H₃3,5-(CCH)₂ (6), where ap is 2-anilinopyridinate. The spectroscopic and electrochemical properties of the new complexes have been assessed. Complexes 3, 4 and 6 display two-electron oxidation and reductions, implying the absence of any significant electronic interaction between the two Ru₂(ap)₄ units in these complexes.
