Partially Classical States of a Boson Field

Employing positive-definiteness arguments we analyse Boson field states, which combine classical and quantum mechanical features (signal and noise), in a constructive manner. Mathematically, they constitute Bauer simplexes within the convex, weak-*-compact state space of the C*-Weyl algebra, defined by a presymplectic test function space (smooth one-Boson wave functions) and are affinely homeomorphic to a state space of a classical field. The regular elements are expressed in terms of weak distributions (probability premeasures) on the dual test function space. The Bauer simplex arising from the bare vacuum is shown to generalize the quantum optical photon field states with positive P-functions.     

The stationary and non-stationary stokes system in exterior domains with non-zero divergence and non-zero boundary values

In an exterior domain Ω??ⁿ, n ? 2, we consider the generalized Stokes resolvent problem in L^q-space where the divergence g = div u and inhomogeneous boundary values u = ψ with zero flux ∫_?Ωψ·N do = 0 may be prescribed. A crucial step in our approach is to find and to analyse the right space for the divergence g. We prove existence, uniqueness and a priori estimates of the solution and get new results for the divergence problem. Further, we consider the non-stationary Stokes system with non-homogeneous divergence and boundary values and prove estimates of the solution in L⁵(0, T;L^q(Ω)) for 1 < s, q < ∞.     

Time-domain simulations of sound propagation through screen-induced turbulence

A flow model in combination with a statistical-dynamical turbulence generator and a linearised Euler time-domain model for sound waves were used to simulate the effect of screen-induced turbulence on the noise level in the acoustical shadow of a screen in wind. Instead of simulating a great number of different frozen turbulence realisations, the concept of transient turbulence was successfully tested and applied. This concept is adequate to the time-domain model and reduces the computational demands. Several two-dimensional simulations allowed to isolate the individual effects of wind and screen on the propagation of 500 Hz sound waves over a 4-m high noise barrier. At a distance of 250 m from the source (240 m behind the screen) the sheltering effect of the screen and the refraction effect of the wind are in the order of 6 and 4 dB, respectively. The screen-induced turbulence leads to fluctuations in the noise level with a standard deviation of 1.2 dB and a maximum amplitude of 3 dB. However, the time averaged effect turned out to be in the order of merely 0.2 dB. The effect of the screen-induced turbulence on the average noise level behind the screen is therefore negligible.

From Δ²- and Δ³- cholestene the γ-lactones 11a , 11b , 12a , and 12b are synthesized through the dibromocarbene adducts 3 and 4 , the bromohydrines 5 and 6 , the oxapiropentanes 7 and 8 , and the cyclobutanones 9a , 9b and 10a , 10b , respectively. The ¹³C-NMR.-spectra of 1–8 and 11 as well as the ORD.-spectra of the cyclobutanones 9 and 10 are reported.     

Preparation of 1-ferrocenyl-2-methyl-1-propylamine,a highly effective chiral template in asymmetrically induced synthesis

The 1-ferrocenyl-2-methyl-1-propylamine (2a)is the most effective chiral template in asymmetrically induced peptide synthesis by stereoselective four component condensation (4CC). Two routes for the synthesis of this amine via its N,N-dimethyl derivative (12a) an described. One route involves the conversion of 12a into the corresponding azide 14a by treatment with methyl iodide/sodium azide in diglyme/water and subsequent reduction of the azide. The preferred other route consists of treating 12a with thioglycolic acid/formic acid to yield the carboxymethylmercapto derivative 9a and transformation of the latter into 2a with aqueous ammonia/ammonium chloride/mercuric chloride. Some related reactions are also discussed.     

13C-NMR-spektren stereoisomerer 1,4-dialkylspiro[4.5]decan-derivate

The ¹³C NMR spectra of a series of 7-substituted 1,4-dialkylspiro[4.5]decanes and of suitable reference compounds are assigned and the derived substituent effects upon the chemical shifts are discussed. In particular, consideration of γ and δ-effects allows the differentiation between 1,4-cis- and 1,4-trans-compounds. Furthermore, the (relative) configuration of the chiral spiroatom C-5 is determined.
