A comparative study on weak anion exchangers was performed to investigate the pH dependence, binding strength, particle size distribution, and static and dynamic capacity of the chromatographic resins. The resins tested included: DEAE Sepharose FF, Poros 50 D, Fractogel EMD DEAE (M), MacroPrep DEAE Support, DEAE Ceramic HyperD 20, and Toyopearl DEAE 650 M. Testing was performed with five different model proteins: Anti-FVII mAb (immunoglobulin G), aprotinin, bovine serum albumin (BSA), Lipolase (Novozymes), and myoglobin. Retention showed an expected increasing trend as a function of pH for proteins with low pI. A decrease in retention was observed for some resins at pH 9 likely due to initiation of deprotonation of the weak anion-exchange ligands. Expected particle size distribution was obtained for all resins compared to previous studies. Binding strength to weak anion-exchange resins as a function of ionic strength depends on the specific protein. Binding and elution at low salt concentration may be performed with Toyopearl DEAE 650 M, while binding and elution at high salt concentration may be performed with MacroPrep DEAE Support. Highest binding capacities were generally obtained with Poros 50 D followed by DEAE Ceramic HyperD 20. A general good agreement was obtained between this study and data obtained by the suppliers. Verification of binding strength trends with model proteins was achieved with human growth hormone (hGH) and a hGH variant on the same resins with different elution salts, sodium chloride, sodium hydrogenphosphate, sodium sulphate, and sodium acetate. Static capacity measurements obtained in the traditional experimental set-up were compared with high-throughput screening (HTS) technique experiments with reasonable agreement. Isotherm data obtained from HTS techniques and pulse experiments were successfully combined with mathematical modelling to simulate, develop and optimise the separation process of two model proteins, Lipolase and BSA. Young’s modulus, strain–stress behavior, fracture strength, and fracture toughness of (0≤×≤1) materials have been investigated in the temperature range 20–1,000°C. Young’s moduli of and , measured by resonant ultrasound spectroscopy, were 130±1 and 133±3 GPa, respectively. The nonlinear stress–strain relationship
observed by four-point bending at room temperature was inferred as a signature of ferroelastic behavior of the materials.
Above the ferroelastic to paraelastic transition temperature, the materials showed elastic behavior, but due to high-temperature
creep, a nonelastic respond reappeared above ∼800°C. The room temperature fracture strength measured by four-point bending
was in the range 107–128 MPa. The corresponding fracture toughness of , measured by single edge V-notch beam method, was 1.16±0.12 MPa·m1/2. The measured fracture strength and fracture toughness were observed to increase with increasing temperature. The fracture
mode changed from intragranular at low temperature to intergranular at high temperature. Tensile stress gradient at the surface
of the materials caused by a frozen-in gradient in the oxygen content during cooling was proposed to explain the low ambient

An algorithm for encoding long strings of building blocks, like 4 DNA bases (adenine-A, cytosine-C, thymine-T, and guanidine-G), 20 natural amino acids (from Alanine Ala to Valine-Val, plus the stop triplet), or all 64 possible base triplets (from AAA to TTT), into "zigzag" or "spectrum-like" representations is suggested. The new encoding scheme can be derived in the 3-, 2-, or 1-dimensional form depending on the user's wishes. The only information, besides the string for which the "spectrum-like" representation is sought, is the initial positioning of the complete set of units from which the string is composed, i.e., four positions for A, C, G, and T, or 20 positions for natural amino acids plus stop, etc. This initial positioning can be initialized in either the 3-, 2-, or 1-D form. For some thirty hydrocarbons the s character of hybrids obtained by the application of the maximum overlap method have been correlated with C-H and C-C spin-spin coupling constants. Here the coupling constants are expressed in cps units. In the calculation of the maximum overlap hybrids either the experimental bond lengths or a standard bond lengths were used. For the \(J_{{\text{C}}^{{\text{13}}} - {\text{H}}}\) and \(J_{{\text{C}}^{{\text{13}}} - {\text{H}}} \) coupling constants the standard deviations are 0.9 cps and 1.9 cps respectively. It has been suggested that the large additive constant in the \(J_{{\text{C}}^{{\text{13}}} - {\text{H}}}\) correlation may be attributed to the ionic character of C-H bonds. A good agreement with the experimental data strongly supports the idea that the Fermi contact term and the hybridization are dominant factors in determining carbon-hydrogen and carbon-carbon spin-spin coupling constants across one bond, at least in hydrocarbons. 相似文献

When regions of three-phase flow arise in an oil reservoir, each of the flow parameters, i.e. capillary pressures and relative
permeabilities, are generally functions of two phase saturations and depend on the wettability state. The idea of this work
is to generate consistent pore-scale based three-phase capillary pressures and relative permeabilities. These are then used
as input to a 1-D continuum core- or reservoir-scale simulator. The pore-scale model comprises a bundle of cylindrical capillary
tubes, which has a distribution of radii and a prescribed wettability state. Contrary to a full pore-network model, the bundle
model allows us to obtain the flow functions for the saturations produced at the continuum-scale iteratively. Hence, the complex
dependencies of relative permeability and capillary pressure on saturation are directly taken care of. Simulations of gas
injection are performed for different initial water and oil saturations, with and without capillary pressures, to demonstrate
how the wettability state, incorporated in the pore-scale based flow functions, affects the continuum-scale displacement patterns
and saturation profiles. In general, wettability has a major impact on the displacements, even when capillary pressure is
suppressed. Moreover, displacement paths produced at the pore-scale and at the continuum-scale models are similar, but they

A mixture of isobutyric acid + water has an upper consolute point at 38.8 mass?% isobutyric acid and temperature near 26?°C. Nickel (II) oxide dissolves in this mixture by reacting with the acid to produce water and nickel isobutyrate. The solubility of nickel (II) oxide in isobutyric acid + water has been measured as a function of temperature at compositions, 25, 38.8, and 60 mass?% isobutyric acid. For values of the temperature, T, which were at least 2 K in excess of the liquid-liquid phase transition temperature, the measured values of the solubility, s, lie on a straight line when plotted in van't Hoff form with ln?s versus 1∕T. The slope, (?ln?s∕?(1∕T)), of the line is negative indicating that the dissolution reaction is endothermic. When the temperature was within 2 K of the phase transition temperature, however, (?ln?s∕?(1∕T)) diverged toward negative infinity. The principle of critical point universality predicts that when excess solid nickel (II) oxide is in dissolution equilibrium with liquid isobutyric acid + water, (?ln?s∕?(1∕T)) should diverge upon approaching the consolute point along the critical isopleth at 38.8 mass?% isobutyric acid. As determined by the sign of the enthalpy of solution, the sign of this divergence is expected to be negative. Not only do our experiments confirm these predictions, but they also show that identical behavior can be observed at both 25 and 60 mass?% isobustyric acid, compositions which lie substantially to either side of the critical composition. 相似文献

The characteristic polynomial of a structure (molecule or a graph) is usually expressed as a function ofx. Here we explore an alternative representation of characteristic polynomials expressed in terms ofL n , the characteristic polynomials of linear chains havingn atoms. While the new forms of the characteristic polynomials are mathematically equivalent to the old forms, they appear to reflect selected structural similarities among homologous molecules better. Besides arriving at general expressions for the form of the characteristic polynomials for numerous families of compounds previously unavailable, the approach is of some interest for the old problem of graph isomorphism and graph recognition in cases of structures which can be associated with a homologous series. 相似文献
