A coincidence study of the decay of 35.8y150m Eu

The decay of 35.8y^150m Eu was studied with a Ge(Li) counter and a Ge(Li)-NaI(Tl) coincidence spectrometer. A total of 64 gamma rays were observed, their energies and intensities measured. A partial level scheme for¹⁵⁰Sm containing 24 energy levels was constructed from the coincidence data. Radioactivity ^150mEu (from¹⁵⁰Sm(d,2n))γγ coincidence; measuredE _y I _y ; deduced levels, decay scheme. Enriched target, Ge(Li) and NaI(Tl) detectors.     

Raman and infrared spectra of tere-phthalaldehyde

The laser Raman spectrum of tere-phthalaldehyde powder has been recorded on a Jobin Yvonhg 2S spectrophotometer with a~100 mW Argon-Ion laser. The infrared spectrum of the solid substance has been recorded on a Perkin-Elmer 621 spectrophotometer in the region 300–4000 cm^-1 using KBr and nujol mull techniques. The observed frequencies have been assigned in terms of the fundamentals, overtones and combinations assumingD _2h point-group symmetry.     

A new method for calculating non-ideal point defect induced electronic structure: Application to GaAs1−xPx:O1

We report a new method for calculating non-ideal defect induced electronic structure in crystalline semiconductors. The method is based upon solving the Dyson equation using the transfer matrix technique. The method allows us to include realistic distortions around defects (impurities, vacancies, etc.) in solving for the electronic structure. Results are presented for the system GaAs_1?xP_x:O in which oxygen replaces the anion. Several different distortions are considered and the results are found to agree remarkably well with experiments.     

The 404.5-nm system of the ReO molecule

Observations on the emission spectrum of ReO in the region 375–870 nm are reported. Five bands of a $\text{ΔΩ}\text{= 0}$ system with (0, 0) band at 404.5 nm have been rotationally analyzed and the principal results for ¹⁸⁷ReO are (in cm^?1) ν₀ = 24 709.90, B′_e = 0.3819, B″_e = 0.4252, ω′_e = 874.8₂, and $\text{Δ}\text{G″(}\text{1}\text{2}\text{) = 979.1}{}_2$. Data on the minor isotopic species ¹⁸⁵ReO are also reported. It is suggested that broad rotational profiles found in bands near 842 nm may be due to nuclear hyperfine structure.     

Differential refractometry of molecular complexes: A reinvestigation

A modified plot method is used to calculate equilibrium constants of molecular complexes. This method (Sahai andSingh's plot) is compared with the method ofYoshida andOsawa.

Bismuthiol II as an analytical reagent

Summary Silver can be separated as its Bismuthiol II complex from OsO_{4 4} ^2– , Os⁴⁺, Ir⁴⁺, Ru³⁺, Rh³⁺ with thiosulphate or complexone III as the masking agent at a p_H between 5 and 9. Au³⁺ can be kept in solution only by thiosulphate at a p_H 8–9 and cyanide complexes palladium at a P_H of about 6. Separation from platinum in presence of a mixture of tartaric acid and complexone III is possible only to a limited extent.Part VI see Z. analyt. Chem. 155, 86 (1957)     

Metal complexation with 2-hydroxy-6-methylpyridine-3-carboxylic acid

Metal complexation with 2-hydroxy-6-methylpyridine-3-carboxylic acid has been studied. The ligand finds use in detection and determination of iron (III). The order of stability constants of the bivalent transition metal complexes is Cu > Zn > Fe > Ni > Co > Mn. b]¦de¦Die Komplexbildung von Metallen mit 2-Hydroxy-6-methylpyridin-3-carbonsäure wurde untersucht. Der Ligand findet Verwendung beim Nachweis und bei der Bestimmung von Eisen(III). Die Reihenfolge der Stabilitätskonstanten der Komplexe mit zweiwertigen Überg angsmetallen ist Cu > Zn > Fe > Ni > Co > Mn.     

Self-focusing of whistlers

Expressions for the critical power for self-focusing, the self-focusing distance and the transverse dimension of the region of the developed instability have been derived for obliquely propagating whistler waves. These expressions have been used to estimate the various self-focusing parameters for ionospheric as well as magnetospheric propagation.
