The isolation of single polyelectrolyte chains of water-soluble poly(isocyanodipeptide)s (PICs) bearing carboxylic acid terminated side chains occurring both at surfaces and in solution was accomplished by reducing the intermolecular interactions through complexation with cations or positively charged surfactants.Scanning force microscopy and viscosity analyses revealed that this method allows to tune the conformation of the macromolecule, which is of importance for tailoring the physicochemical properties of the material.This is particularly significant for the use of these polymer chains as seed for biomineralization processes.  相似文献

We report a tapping mode scanning force microscopy investigation on the growth from solutions of a lipophilic deoxiguanosine derivative on the basal plane of a muscovite mica surface. By varying the chemical composition of the substrate surface it is possible to drive the self-assembly towards either layered thin films, which are very likely to consist of guanosine quartets, or nanoribbons, comprising hydrogen bonded networks. Both these two architectures, which are peculiar to the guanine base itself, are of notable importance for the fabrication of molecular nanowires. Moreover, the first arrangement provides evidence that the guanosine is able to behave as ionophore, thus, suggesting its utilization in the development of solid-state ion selective sensors.  相似文献

Attenuated total reflection and photoacoustic measurements have been employed to study the decay channels of plasmon surface polaritons optically excited at the Ag-air interface. We show that it is possible to analyse the radiative and non-radiative decay quantitatively by comparing measurements taken with transparent and blackened cavities, respectively. In the first case only light that is thermalized by radiationless processes in the Ag film produces a photoacoustic signal. In the blackened cell, however, light that is either transmitted through the Ag film or reemitted by the radiative decay of excited polaritons also contributes to the photoacoustic intensity.  相似文献

Positively charged dendronized polymers with protonated amine groups at the periphery and different dendron generations are cylindrically shaped nanoobjects whose radii and linear charge densities can be varied systematically. These polyelectrolytes have been complexed with DNA and subsequently adsorbed on precoated mica substrates. The analysis of scanning force microscopy data indicates that DNA wraps around the dendronized polymers. The calculated pitch is 2.30 +/- 0.27 and 2.16 +/- 0.27 nm for DNA wrapped around dendronized polymers of generation two and four, respectively. The complex with the second generation has been shown to be negatively charged, which is consistent with the theory of spontaneous overcharging of macro-ion complexes, when the electrostatic contribution to the free energy dominates over the elastic energy. The complexes may be of interest for the development of nonviral gene delivery systems.  相似文献
