Scanning tunnelling microscopy and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy were conducted on magnetron sputtered WO3 thin films, following a sequence of ultra high vacuum anneals from 100 °C to 900 °C. Annealing from 100 °C to 400 °C induced an upward surface band bending of about 0.3 eV, attributed to the oxygen migration from the bulk to the surface, but no changes in the surface topography. Chemical changes occurred from 600 °C to 800 °C, associated with the formation of secondary oxide species. STM imaging showed that the film surface consists of amorphous particles 35 nm in size up to 600 °C, while higher temperatures resulted in an increase in particle size. Crystallisation of the nanoparticles started to occur after annealing at 600 °C. The implications in terms of gas sensing are discussed. 相似文献

An intense collimated beam of high-energy protons is emitted normal to the rear surface of thin solid targets irradiated at 1 PW power and peak intensity 3x10(20) W cm(-2). Up to 48 J ( 12%) of the laser energy is transferred to 2x10(13) protons of energy >10 MeV. The energy spectrum exhibits a sharp high-energy cutoff as high as 58 MeV on the axis of the beam which decreases in energy with increasing off axis angle. Proton induced nuclear processes have been observed and used to characterize the beam. 相似文献

The paper considers heat transfer characteristics of thin film flow over a hot horizontal cylinder resulting from a cold vertical sheet of liquid falling onto the surface. The underlying physical features of the developing film thickness, velocity and temperature distributions have been illustrated by numerical solutions of high accuracy for large Reynolds numbers using the modified Keller box method. The solutions for film thickness distribution are good agreement with those obtained using the Pohlhausen integral momentum technique thus providing a basic confirmation of the validity of the results presented. 相似文献

Angle resolved near-edge absorption fine structure measurements of the C 1s edge of a film of the star-shaped molecule 4(HPBT) show a high degree of order, with the molecules maintaining a largely planar geometry in an upright configuration. X-ray excited optical luminescence measurements showed a dependence of the luminescence spectrum on the excitation energy, with (0–0), (0–1), and (0–2) vibrational modes being clearly visible when exciting off-resonance; the appearance of these features under off-resonance is attributed to a scattering process that is quenched when the excitation approaches a core absorption resonance. The HOMO–LUMO gap is estimated from the luminescence measurements (2.28 eV), and this value is confirmed by the comparison of the C 1s absorption and C Kα emission spectra. 相似文献

The surface properties of vertically aligned ZnO nanowires grown by chemical vapour deposition on GaN using a gold layer as a catalyst are investigated by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy as a function of annealing temperature in ultra high vacuum (UHV). The nanowires are 8.5 μm long and 60 nm wide. 87% of the surface carbon content was removed after annealing at 500 °C in UHV. Analysis of the gold intensity suggests diffusion into the nanowires after annealing at 600 °C. Annealing at 300 °C removes surface water contamination and induces a 0.2 eV upward band bending, indicating that adsorbed water molecules act as surface electron donors. The contaminants re-adsorbed after 10 days in UHV and the surface band bending caused by the water removal was reversed. The UHV experiment also affected the nanowires arrangement causing them to bunch together. These results have clear implications for gas sensing applications with ZnO NWs. 相似文献

The electronic structure of gas-phase H(2)O and D(2)O molecules has been investigated using resonant inelastic soft x-ray scattering (RIXS). We observe spectator shifts for all valence orbitals when exciting into the lowest three absorption resonances. Strong changes of the relative valence orbital emission intensities are found when exciting into the different absorption resonances, which can be related to the angular anisotropy of the RIXS process. Furthermore, excitation into the 4a(1) resonance leads to nuclear dynamics on the time scale of the RIXS process; we find evidence for vibrational coupling and molecular dissociation in both, the spectator and the participant emission. 相似文献

A biosynthetic and enzymatic method was developed for the preparation of 13C-labeled verdoheme, which permits the 13C NMR spectroscopic characterization of this elusive intermediate in the heme oxidation path catalyzed by the enzyme heme oxygenase. The 13C NMR data indicate that the ferrous verdoheme complex of Neisseria meningitides heme oxygenase is hexacoordinate and diamagnetic, with a proximal histidine and likely a distal hydroxide as axial ligands. The coordination number and spin state of the ferrous verdoheme-heme oxygenase complex is in stark contrast to the pentacoordinate and paramagnetic nature of the heme-heme oxygenase complex and heme centers in general. 相似文献
