A precision measurement of the γ yields following the β decay of (32)Cl has determined its isobaric-analogue branch to be (22.47(-0.18)(+0.21))%. Since it is an almost pure-Fermi decay, we can also determine the amount of isospin-symmetry breaking in this superallowed transition. We find a very large value, δ(C) = 5.3(9)%, in agreement with a shell-model calculation. This result sets a benchmark for isospin-symmetry-breaking calculations and lends support for similarly calculated, yet smaller, corrections that are currently applied to 0+ → 0 + transitions for tests of the standard model.  相似文献

The Cyclotron Institute at Texas A&M University is carrying out an upgrade project which will lead to accelerated radioactive ion beams at intermediate energies. The project involves recommissioning a K150 cyclotron for acceleration of stable beams which will be used to produce radioactive ions. Both light-ion and heavy-ion guides will be used to stop and transport the radioactive ions to a charge breeding electron cyclotron resonance ion source. Following charge breeding, highly-charged ions will be injected into the K500 cyclotron, accelerated and then transported to existing equipment to carry out experiments.  相似文献

Spectra of the (16O, α) reaction induced by a 145 MeV beam at forward angles are measured on 12C, 13C, 14N, 16O, and 20Ne targets. Prominent broad peaks are seen for 12C, 16O, and 20Ne targets, but not for 13C and 14N. A direct 12C transfer to molecular states is suggested.  相似文献

Our previously described force field method has been extended to allow the calculation of structures and energies of molecules containing aldehyde or ketone groups. The method has been applied to a large number of simple cyclic and acyclic compounds, and has been shown to give good structures and energies insofar as these can be checked against available experimental data. Strain energies of ketones have been calculated, and comparison of these values to strain energies in the hydrocarbon series is discussed.  相似文献

We present measurements of the polarization of the J/psi produced in 800-GeV proton interactions with a copper target. Polarization of the J/psi is sensitive to the ccmacr; production and hadronization processes. A longitudinal polarization is observed at large x(F), while at small x(F) the state is produced essentially unpolarized or slightly transversely polarized. No significant variation of the polarization is observed versus p(T).  相似文献

The energy dependence of the 12C(16O, α) reaction was measured at incident energies of Elab=112−191 MeV. In the range ofEx(24Mg)=30−56 MeV, the excitation energies of the structures in the inclusive α spectrum were found to vary continuously as a function of incident energy in this region. This fact indicates that these structures do not represent excitations in 24Mg, but rather that they originate from a different process such as a sequential ejectile decay.  相似文献
