A survey of the results on the search of new heavy resonances decaying into muon, electron, or photon pairs in the CMS experiment at proton beams of the LHC in the run of 2015 for the total center of mass energy √s = 13 TeV is presented. The limits for heavy resonance production cross sections are set. Excess of diphoton events in the region of mass spectra near 750 GeV with a local statistical significance of 3.4 σ and a global statistical significance of 1.6 σ is observed.  相似文献

Results on charged K and π production rates and their ratios measured by the SPY/NA56 experiment for 450 GeV/c proton interactions on beryllium targets are reported here. The present data sample covers the secondary particle momentum range between 7 GeV/c and 135 GeV/c in the forward direction. Experimental accuracies of 3% for K/π ratios and of 5–10% for particle yields have been achieved.  相似文献

A search for νμ → νe oscillations has been conducted at the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF) using νμ from π+ decay in flight. An excess in the number of beam-related events from the νe Ce X inclusive reaction is observed. The excess is too large to be explained by normal νe contamination in the beam at a confidence level greater than 99%. If interpreted as an oscillation signal, the observed oscillation probability of (2.6 ± 1.3 ± 0.5) × 10−3 is consistent with the previously reported oscillation evidence from LSND.  相似文献

The Large Hadron Collider will provide hadronic collisions at energies in the multi-TeV range, never explored before. The parton fractional momenta probed at such energies can be as low as $ x \approx 2p_T /\sqrt {se^{ - y} } \approx 10^{ - 5} $ x \approx 2p_T /\sqrt {se^{ - y} } \approx 10^{ - 5} at large rapidities y, opening up attractive opportunities for low-x QCD studies. The combination of the CMS HF (3< |η| <5) and CASTOR (5.1< |η| <6.6) calorimeters allows one, in particular, to reconstruct very forward jets. We present generator-level studies of the CMS capabilities to measure the single inclusive forward jet spectrum and forward-backward (Mueller-Navelet) dijets in p-p collisions at 14 TeV. Both observables are sensitive to low-x gluon densities and non-linear QCD evolution.  相似文献
