Poly(3,6‐silafluorene) is a typical wide band‐gap conjugated polymer with ultraviolet light emission. The blue electroluminescence from the 3,6‐silafluorene‐based copolymers via intrachain energy transfer was reported in this study. The monomer containing vinylene, anthracene, and tri‐arylamine moieties incorporated into the poly(3,6‐silafluorene) backbone can form efficient deep‐blue emitting copolymers with EL efficiency of 1.1–1.9%. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The authors describe an oligonucleotide-based lateral flow test for visual detection of Ag(I). The assay is based on cytosine-Ag(I)-cytosine [C-Ag(I)-C] coordination chemistry to capture gold nanoparticle (AuNP) tags in the test zone. A thiolated C-rich oligonucleotide probe was immobilized on the AuNPs via gold-thiol chemistry, and a biotinylated C-rich oligonucleotide probe was immobilized on the test zone. The AuNPs labelled with C-rich oligonucleotides are captured by Ag(I) ions in the test zone through the C-Ag(I)-C coordination. The resulting accumulation of AuNPs produces a readily visible red band in the test zone. Under optimized conditions, the test is capable of visually detecting 1.0 ppb of Ag(I) which is 50 times lower than the maximum allowable concentration as defined by the US Environmental Protection Agency for drinking water. Hence, the test is inexpensive and highly sensitive. It was applied to the detection of Ag(I) in spiked samples of tap water and river water. In our perception, the test is a particularly valuable tool in limited resource settings.

Triphenylphosphine-mediated metal-free trifluoromethylthiolation and difluoromethylthiolation of thiols by CF3SO2Cl and CHF2SO2Cl to synthesize trifluoromethyl disulfides and difluoromethyl disulfides, respectively, was achieved at room temperature. Iodine generated in situ from iodide facilitated this reaction via the formation of iodotriphenylphosphonium iodide which could serve as a reducing agent in this transformation. Readily available reagents and mild reaction conditions without transition-metals allow this protocol to be more practical than traditional methods.  相似文献

<正>The synthesis and mesomorphic properties of a new class of liquid crystalline cyclotriphosphazenes with rigid cyanostilbene groups and flexible alkoxy groups are reported.The thermal behaviors of cyclotriphosphazene derivatives 5a-5d are studied by the means of differential scanning calorimetry,polarizing optical microscopy.Nematic phases were observed in compounds 5a-5d both on heating and cooling.The clear temperatures of compounds 5a-5d slightly increased with increasing length of terminal alkyl chain.Compounds 5a-5d showed different mesogenic region from minimum 5℃to maximum 142℃.  相似文献

We report a general method for preparing nanoparticle clusters (NPCs) in an oil-in-water emulsion system mediated by cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), where previously only individual nanoparticles were obtained. NPCs of magnetic, metallic, and semiconductor nanoparticles have been prepared to demonstrate the generality of the method. The NPCs were spherical and composed of densely packed individual nanoparticles. The number density of nanoparticles in the oil phase was found to be critical for the formation, morphology, and yield of NPCs. The method developed here is scalable and can produce NPCs in nearly 100% yield at a concentration of 5 mg/mL in water, which is approximately 5 times higher than the highest value reported in the literature. The surface chemistry of NPCs can also be controlled by replacing CTAB with polymers containing different functional groups via a similar procedure. The reproducible production of NPCs with well-defined shapes has allowed us to compare the properties of individual and clustered iron oxide nanoparticles, including magnetization, magnetic moments, and contrast enhancement in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We found that, due to their collective properties, NPCs are more responsive to an external magnetic field and can potentially serve as better contrast enhancement agents than individually dispersed magnetic NPs in MRI.  相似文献
