Weak decays of heavy mesons in the instantaneous Bethe Salpeter approach

In the framework of the instantaneous Bethe Salpeter equation we investigate weak decays ofB andD mesons. Mesons are described asq $\bar q$ states interacting via a mixture of a scalar and a vector confining kernel and a one gluon exchange. The model parameters are fixed by a fit to the meson mass spectrum including also the light mesons. We calculate form factors and compare our results to the pole dominance hypothesis. From a fit to ARGUS and CLEO data onB→D ^*?v semileptonic decay we extract the Cabbibo Kobayashi Maskawa matrix element to beV _cb =(0.032 ± 0.003)(1.49ps/τ _b )^1/2 The Isgur Wise function is calculated utilizing the heavy quark mass limit. Finally, we give some results on nonleptonic decays.     

Angular dependence of Bose-Einstein correlations in interactions of π+ andK + mesons with protons and nuclei at 250 GeV/c

The angular dependence of Bose-Einstein correlations is studied in interactions of ⁺ andK ⁺ mesons with protons and nuclei at 250 GeV/c. The pion source is found to be elongated along the interaction axis in the c.m.s., with the ratioa between transverse and longitudinal dimension equal to 0.55±0.06 for the case of proton, 0.53±0.13 for the case ofAl and 0.33±0.21 for the case ofAu target. For meson-proton interactions, indication for an increase of the elongation is found with increasing event multiplicity, pair momentum and particle transverse momentum.Now at UIA, Wilrijk, Belgium     

Study of coherent diffractive production reactions ofp+C→[Y 0 K +]+C type and observation of narrow structures in ∑ (1385)0 K + and ∑0 K + effective mass spectra

In the experiments at the SPHINX facility in 70 GeV proton beam of the IHEP accelerator the coherent diffractive production reactions on carbon nucleip+C [(1385)⁰ K ⁺+C andp+C[⁰ K ⁺]+C were investigated. The evidences for new baryon states were obtained in the study of hyperon-kaon effective mass spectra in these two reactions:X (2050) with massM=(2052±6) MeV and width =(35 _–35 ⁺²² ) MeV inM[(1385)⁰ K ⁺] andX(2000) withM=1999±6 MeV and =91±17 MeV inM[⁰ K ⁺]. The unusual features of these massive states (small enough decay widths, anomalously large branching ratios for decays with strange particles emission) make them very serious candidates for cryptoexotic pentaquark baryons with hidden strangeness.     

Yrast excitations in129Te

Using an 11.4MeV/u¹³⁶Xe beam of the UNILAC accelerator of GSI and a^natW target, A=184 isobars were produced and separated by using an on-line mass separator. A new isomeric state was found in¹⁸⁴Hf. This state decays with a half-life of 48(10) s and emits three -rays of 73, 482, and 555 keV as well as lower-lying cascade transitions. The hindrance of the 73 keV-E1 transition with K=8 is compared with those of other even-even hafnium isotopes. The half-life of¹⁸⁴Lu was estimated to be between 15 and 25s.     

TheQ EC dependence of evidence for a 17-keV neutrino from the55Fe radiative decay

The internal bremsstrahlung spectrum of⁵⁵Fe was studied using HPGe detector in low background and reduced pileup conditions. The data show that the conclusion on the presence of a heavy mass neutrino strongly depends from the experimental decay energy value taken in the analysis. The decay energy was found to beQ _EC =231.37 ± 0.10 keV. The obtained results also show the need for the higher accuracyQ _EC used in the analysis of the existence of a 17-keV neutrino in the⁵⁵Fe decay.The authors would like to thank A. Observation of isomeric states in197Bi

The high spin states of¹¹⁹Te, populated in¹¹⁰Pd(¹³C,4n) and¹¹⁰Pd(¹²C,3n) reactions, have been studied through -ray spectroscopy. The level scheme has been established upto a spin of 55/2. Three-quasiparticle states, based on g² _7/2h_11/2 and g_7/2d_5/2h_11/2 configurations, have been identified. The 35/2 and 39/2 states are suggested to be the fully aligned states constituted by five valence h_11/2 ³, g_7/2, d_5/2 quasiparticles.     

Electropolymerized m-phenylenediamine as a means to immobilize active protein on thickness-shear-mode quartz crystal

Electropolymerized m-phenylenediamine was used as an active coating for immobilizing urease and lectin on a gold-plated thickness-shear-mode (TSM) crystal. To enhance effectiveness of immobilization. a bilayer polymer film composed of polyaniline and poly-m-phenylenediamine was proposed. Compared with single poly-m-phenylenediamine film, the bilayer polymer film gave better results in terms of immobilizing capacity, stability and reproductivity. On this bilayer-film-coated TSM quartz crystal, the amount of immobilized lectin was estimated about 1.8 mug/cm(2). Detection of purified human erythrocytes is demonstrated as an example of potential application of this lectin-modified TSM biosensor in clinic.     

The application of principal component regression on simultaneous multicomponent determinations through a single catalytic kinetic run

The kinetic behaviors of Cr(VI) and W(VI), which catalyze a common indicator reaction between H(2)O(2) and I(-), were studied. A new concept, 'Rate Spectrum', is proposed. The two catalysts can be determined simultaneously by analyzing the rate spectra of their mixtures as the rate spectra of each catalyst are linearly independent. Principal Component Regression (PCR) was used to analyze the rate spectra of the mixtures of Cr and W, and in this way the two ions were determined simultaneously through a single kinetic run.     

Investigation of the extraction equilibria in the system hexachloridorhenate(IV)-neotetrazolium chloride-dichloroethane-water

The neotetrazolium hexachloridorhenate(IV) (NTReCl(6)) has been synthesized and its composition checked. The optimum conditions for the extraction of NTReCl(6) with dichloroethane have been established. The recovery factor for one-fold extraction is R = 74%. The distribution constant, K(D), extraction constant, K(ex), and ion-association constant, beta, have been determined. Neotetrazolium chloride was found to be suitable reagent for extraction-spectrophotometric determination of rhenium(IV) ((NTReCl(6)) = 3.42 +/- 0.20 x 10(4)M(-1) cm(-1)).     

A new approach to the study of ion transport processes by an in situ radiotracer method based on measuring intensity changes and energy spectrum alterations of β-radiation

A new approach for the study of ion transport by an in situ radiotracer method is presented. The method is based upon the measurement of the intensity and energy spectrum change of -radiation during the penetration of labeled species. The applicability of the radiotracer technique is detailed through the measurement of the transport of labeled chloride ions into a PERMAPLEX-A20 anion exchanger membrane. The proposed method is applicable to in situ monitoring of the motion of ions in the membrane (or adsorbent).
