The determination of manganese in urine by atomic absorption spectrometry   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Urine samples were digested with a mixture of nitric, sulfuric, and perchloric acids containing molybdate as catalyst. A two-point standard addition technique involved extracts of buffered, digested aliquots containing 10- and 20-p.p.b. manganese(II) in the aqueous phase. The extraction system was MIBK-cupferron. Of the substances tested only bismuth, antimony, and thallium interfered. From the same subject, five morning urine samples averaged 3.0 p.p.b. of manganese with a range of 2.0–4.2 p.p.b.; the average deviation was 0.6 p.p.b.  相似文献

A set of n nonconcurrent lines in the projective plane (called an arrangment) divides the plane into polygonal cells. It has long been a problem to find a nontrivial upper bound on the number of triangular regions. We show that 512n(n ? 1) is such a bound. We also show that if no three lines are concurrent, then the number of quadrilaterals, pentagons and hexagons is at least cn2.  相似文献

Perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) form a special category of organofluorine compounds with particularly useful and unique properties. Their large use over the past decades increased the interest in the study of their environmental fate. Fluorocarbons may have direct or indirect environmental impact through the products of their decomposition in the environment. It is a common knowledge that biodegradation is restricted within non-perfluorinated part of molecules: however, a number of studies showed that defluorination can readily occur during biotransformation. To evaluate the fate of PFCs in the environment a set of principal transformations was developed and implemented in the simulator of microbial degradation using the catabolite software engine (CATABOL). The simulator was used to generate metabolic pathways for 171 perfluorinated substances on Canada's domestic substances list. It was found that although the extent of biodegradation of parent compounds could reach 60%, persistent metabolites could be formed in significant quantities. During the microbial degradation a trend was observed where PFCs are transformed to more bioaccumulative and more toxic products. Perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctanesulfonate were predicted to be the persistent biodegradation products of 17 and 27% of the perfluorinated sulphonic acid and carboxylic acid containing compounds, respectively.  相似文献

Among all possible variants of the Isaichev orientation relationship between cementite and ferrite, a single major cementite variant has been observed to appear in bainite. Interphase boundary nucleation of cementite on ferrite–austenite semi-coherent interfaces is considered a plausible reason for this observation. With the aid of known crystallographic relations and habit planes of the ferrite–cementite, ferrite–austenite and austenite–cementite phases, a model for cementite nucleation has been proposed. The interphase-boundary nucleus is assumed to form on a semi-coherent ferrite–austenite interface and to possess ferrite–cementite and austenite–cementite habits as two main facets of the nucleus. It is shown that interphase cementite nucleation will be viable if the energies of all facets of the nucleus are in the semi-coherent range.  相似文献

Inclusive cross-section measurements as well as studies of the hadronic final state like jet production or the production of heavy quarks are discussed. We prove a new, tight upper bound on the number of incidences between points and hyperplanes in Euclidean d-space. Given n points, of which k are colored red, there are O d (m 2/3 k 2/3 n (d−2)/3+kn d−2+m) incidences between the k red points and m hyperplanes spanned by all n points provided that m=Ω(n d−2). We have studied the electric field-induced first order transition from a homeotropic smectic A structure to a polydomain texture that occurs through the nucleation of toric focal-conic domains (TFCDs). The process involves two steps: first, nucleation of TFCDs of a size larger than a critical radius a*, and then a steady growth of TFCDs to a secondary critical radius a**, when surface anchoring effects become dominant and cause a transition from a circular TFCD to an elongated stripe domain (SD). Studies were performed for pure smectic A materials and for smectic A doped with kunipia nanoparticles. Non-destructive 3D imaging with fluorescence confocal polarizing microscopy showed that field-induced TFCDs can nucleate in the smectic A bulk. Clay particles reduce the energy barrier for nucleation as they distort the smectic A layers and thus increase the ground state energy. Simple elastic models of the TFCD and SD allow us to describe the qualitative features of the observed phenomena.  相似文献

We have constructed a mm-scale Ioffe–Pritchard trap capable of providing axial field curvature of 7800 G/cm2 with only 10.5 A of driving current. Our novel fabrication method involving electromagnetic coils formed of anodized aluminum strips is compatible with ultra-high vacuum conditions, as demonstrated by our using the trap to produce Bose–Einstein condensates of 106 87Rb atoms. The strong axial curvature gives access to a number of experimentally interesting configurations such as tightly confining prolate, nearly isotropic, and oblate spheroidal traps, as well as traps with variable tilt angles with respect to the nominal axial direction.
