Sorption characteristics of polyfluorocarboxamides

The dependence of the variations in the differential molar free energy of sorption of polyfluorocarboxamides R_FC(O)NR₂ (R_F = CF₃(CF₂) _i ,i=0 to 5, R=H or Me) on capillary columns on the molecular structure of the amides, the temperature of analysis, and the nature of the stationary phases (OV-101, XE-60, and PEG-40M) were investigated by GLC. The peculiarities of the variation of the sorption characteristics of amides in XE-60 and PEG-40M polar phases, which cause the inversion of the order of retention of the members of pseudohomologous series, were found.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Production of carbon soot with a high content of C60 and C70 fullerenes by electric arc

The effect of the parameters of the electric arc (helium pressure, current and voltage, clearance between electrodes) and of the peculiarities of the setup design (arrangement of electrodes, distance between the arc and the cooling surface, temperature of the soot condensation surface) on the yield of fullerenes has been studied. Conditions for producing soot with a C₆₀ and C₇₀ content up to 43% (toluene extract) have been found.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Synthesis of vinyl-substituted oxiranes and their transformation to dihydrofurans

The reaction of dimethylsulfonium methylide with the carbonyl function of 2-arylidene-cyclohexanones obtained from 2-methylcyclohexanone affords the corresponding spirooxiranes. The application of this reaction to 2,2-dimethyl-6-(5-methylfurfurylidene)cyclohexanone and 2,2-dimethyl-6-(5-chlorofurfurylidene)cyclohexanone leads to substituted 4,4-dimethyl-1-furyl-1,-3,4,5,6,7-hexahydroisobenzofurans.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk.
