Three‐dimensional automatic local remeshing for two or more hybrid meshes

In this paper, an automatic local remeshing method is proposed for merging two or more hybrid meshes consisting of prisms, hexahedra, pyramids and tetrahedra to reduce users' efforts and turnaround time for mesh generation as an extension of the local remeshing method for small devices by Ito et al. (AIAA J. 2009; 47 (5):1270–1276. DOI: 10.2514/1.40875 ). Two types of relationships between two volume meshes are considered: (1) a volume mesh containing the other smaller volume mesh inside (parent–child relationship) and (2) a volume mesh connecting to the other volume mesh (sibling relationship). The primary advantage of the proposed method over the existing ones is that it can handle the geometries in the two hybrid meshes intersecting each other. Measuring the elongation viscosity of lyocell using a semi-hyperbolic die

The lyocell process involves dry jet—wet spinning of a solution of cellulose in N-methyl morpholine oxide monohydrate. Measurement of the elongation viscosity of lyocell is important for the design and optimization of the lyocell process. We present a useful method for the determination of the elongation viscosity of lyocell by using a combination of experimental measurements on a semi-hyperbolic die and viscoelastic simulations.     

Toxicological effects,biological aspects and spectral characterization of organoboron(III) complexes of sulfonamide‐imines

The toxicological effects, biological aspects and spectral characterization of organoboron(III) complexes of sulfonamide‐imines derived by the condensation of salicylaldehyde with different sulfa‐drugs are described. The benzene‐soluble, high‐molecular‐weight complexes have been characterized using a wide range of analytical and spectroscopic techniques, viz. UV, IR, ¹H and ¹¹B NMR. On the basis of these studies, it is inferred that the imines derived from sulfa drugs and salicylaldehyde behave as dibasic tridentate ligands and thus provide a tetrahedral environment around the boron atom. Finally, all these complexes have been screened for their antimicrobial activity against a variety of fungal and bacterial strains and their toxicological effects on male albino rats examined at the dosages employed. Review of the synthesis,characterization, and properties of LaAlO3 phosphors

In this review different methods of preparing lanthanum aluminate (LaAlO₃) phosphors are discussed. The molten salt method, the combustion method, the sucrose method, and the coprecipitation technique are the best methods for preparing LaAlO₃ phosphors with small particle size and high surface area by low-temperature synthesis. LaAlO₃ usually has a rhombohedral structure. It has good dielectric properties and, hence, is regarded as an attractive alternative to SiO₂ in microelectronic devices. LaAlO₃ phosphors have excellent chemical and thermal stability, mechanical durability, and exploitable optical and electronic properties, leading to a wide range of potential applications. LaAlO₃ phosphors doped with rare-earth ions have luminescence properties and can, hence, be used in optical display systems.     

Polyfluorophenylamino Germanes and Their Titanium (IV) Chloride Adducts

Disproportionation reactions between (CF ₃ CH ₂ O) ₃ GeNHC ₆ H _{5 ? n} F _n and TiCl ₄ in petroleum ether (40?60°C) at 0° to ?10°C give (CF ₃ CH ₂ O) ₂ Ge(NHC ₆ H _{5 ? n} F _n ) ₂ ^.2TiCl ₄ and (CF ₃ CH ₂ O)Ge(NHC ₆ H _{5 ? n} F _n ) ₃ ^. 2TiCl ₄ adducts. However, complete disproportionation of (CF ₃ CH ₂ O) ₃ Ge(NHC ₆ H _{5 ? n} F _n ) (n = 1,2) occurs at ?55 to ?60°C to give Ge(NHC ₆ H _{5 ? n} F _n ) ₄ ^.3TiCl ₄ . These complexes give double adducts on reactions with CH ₃ NO ₂ and CH ₃ CN. All the products are characterized by elemental analyses and IR, ¹ H, and ¹⁹ F NMR spectroscopy. A comparative disproportionation of the germanamines and analogous silanamines is discussed.     

Silymarin,a polyphenolic flavonoid impede Plasmodium falciparum growth through interaction with heme

Abstract

A polyphenolic flavonoid, Silymarin isolated from Silybum marianum is widely known for its hepatoprotective action. In the present study anti-plasmodial activity of Silymarin has been demonstrated for the first time having IC₅₀ of 14?±?0.33?μM against the NF-54 strain of P. falciparum with high selectivity index (>100). The parasitostatic action is exerted through inhibition of β-hematin/hemozoin formation which is due to the interaction (Kd?=?3.63?±?0.9µM) of silymarin with free heme in a Stoichiometry of 1:1 Silymarin: heme complex resulting into heme-induced membrane damage in the parasite. Silymarin could hinder the glutathione and hydrogen peroxide-induced heme detoxification. Silymarin also induces apoptosis in the parasite through the elevation of caspase-3 level in a dose-dependent manner. Results from the docking studies suggest that Silymarin interacts with heme.
