The DAΦNE electron-positron collider at the Frascati National Laboratories has made available a unique “beam" of negative kaons providing unprecedented conditions for the study of the low-energy kaon-nucleon interaction, a field still largely unexplored. The DEAR (DAΦNE Exotic Atom Research) experiment at DAΦNE and its successor SIDDHARTA (SIlicon Drift Detector for Hadronic Atom Research by Timing Application) aim at a precision measurement of the strong-interaction shift and width of the fundamental 1s level, via the measurement of the X-ray transitions to this level, for kaonic hydrogen and kaonic deuterium. The aim is to extract the isospin-dependent antikaon-nucleon scattering lengths and to contribute to the understanding of aspects of chiral symmetry breaking in the strangeness sector.  相似文献

Radioactive 57Mn+(T 1/2?= 1.5 min) ions have been implanted at the ISOLDE facility at CERN with 60 keV energy to fluences <1012/cm2 into p-type Si1???x Ge x (x < 0.1) single crystals held at 300–600 K. The implantation and annealing processes result in the majority of the implanted Mn ions occupying substitutional lattice sites. In the subsequent 57Mn nuclear β ???-decay to the 14.4 keV Mössbauer state of 57Fe (T 1/2?= 100 ns), an average recoil energy of 40 eV is imparted to the 57Fe daughter atoms which results in a large fraction being expelled into tetrahedral interstitial sites and the creation of a vacancy. The remainder occupies substitutional sites. This technique of recoil production of 57m FeI thus allows for the study of the diffusion characteristics of interstitial Fe. From the temperature dependent line broadening, the activation energies have been determined and decrease with increasing Ge concentration which contributes significantly to the increase of the jump frequency. A similar result has been obtained in n-type SiGe but there the values for the activation energies were much higher.  相似文献

The superconducting-insulator transition is simulated in disordered networks of Josephson junctions with thermally activated Arrhenius-like resistive shunt. By solving the conductance matrix of the network, the transition is reproduced in different experimental conditions by tuning thickness, charge density and disorder degree. In particular, on increasing fluctuations of the parameters entering the Josephson coupling and the Coulomb energy of the junctions, the transition occurs for decreasing values of the critical temperature T c and increasing values of the activation temperature T o . The results of the simulation compare well with recent experiments where the mesoscopic fluctuations of the phase have been suggested as the mechanism underlying the phenomenon of emergent granularityin otherwise homogeneous films. The proposed approach is compared with the results obtained on TiN films and nanopatterned arrays of weak-links, where the superconductor-insulator transition is directly stimulated.  相似文献

The kaonic (3)He and (4)He X-rays emitted in the [Formula: see text] transitions were measured in the SIDDHARTA experiment. The widths of the kaonic (3)He and (4)He 2p states were determined to be [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text], respectively. Both results are consistent with the theoretical predictions. Background

The paper presents the evaluation of soil contamination with total, water-available, mobile, semi-mobile and non-mobile Hg fractions in the surroundings of a former chlor-alkali plant in connection with several chemical soil characteristics. Principal Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis were used to evaluate the chemical composition variability of soil and factors influencing the fate of Hg in such areas. The sequential extraction EPA 3200-Method and the determination technique based on capacitively coupled microplasma optical emission spectrometry were checked.

Results

A case study was conducted in the Turda town, Romania. The results revealed a high contamination with Hg in the area of the former chlor-alkali plant and waste landfills, where soils were categorized as hazardous waste. The weight of the Hg fractions decreased in the order semi-mobile?>?non-mobile?>?mobile?>?water leachable. Principal Component Analysis revealed 7 factors describing chemical composition variability of soil, of which 3 attributed to Hg species. Total Hg, semi-mobile, non-mobile and mobile fractions were observed to have a strong influence, while the water leachable fraction a weak influence. The two-dimensional plot of PCs highlighted 3 groups of sites according to the Hg contamination factor. The statistical approach has shown that the Hg fate in soil is dependent on pH, content of organic matter, Ca, Fe, Mn, Cu and SO42- rather than natural components, such as aluminosilicates. Cluster analysis of soil characteristics revealed 3 clusters, one of which including Hg species. Soil contamination with Cu as sulfate and Zn as nitrate was also observed.

Conclusions

The approach based on speciation and statistical interpretation of data developed in this study could be useful in the investigation of other chlor-alkali contaminated areas. According to the Bland and Altman test the 3-step sequential extraction scheme is suitable for Hg speciation in soil, while the used determination method of Hg is appropriate.

Ternary zinc–calcium-phosphate glasses prepared by classical melting method were characterized through X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) along with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) and Raman spectroscopy. The study of these glasses was done in order to supply information regarding their structural particularities since the zinc role in biological environment, especially in the bone, is still under debate.XRD analysis confirmed the vitreous character of the as-prepared samples, while SEM and EDAX measurements indicated the presence of some non-homogeneous domains on their surfaces with approximately similar elemental composition. According to FTIR and Raman spectroscopy, the local structure of glasses up to 10 mol% ZnO is mainly built by Q2 tetrahedrons connected by P–O–P linkages. For 50 mol% ZnO, the modifier role of zinc ions is strongly reflected on the local structure dominated in this case by Q1 pyrophosphate units.The surface reactivity of the samples has been analyzed in vitro by immersion in simulated body fluid (SBF) at 37 °C. XRD, SEM–EDAX, FTIR and Raman methods were employed to characterize the structural changes that occurred on the surface of ZnO–CaO–P2O5 samples reacting with SBF. The X-ray diffraction patterns demonstrated the formation of a hydroxyapatite layer on the samples surface while the other used methods didn't reveal concisely that phenomenon. Based on X-ray measurements, the influence of zinc concentration on the hydroxyapatite layer development was followed.  相似文献

A new, low power capacitively coupled plasma microtorch (30 W, 13.56 MHz, 0.5 L min?1 Ar) was investigated in conjunction with commercially available microspectrometers for the simultaneous multielemental analysis by atomic emission spectrometry of liquid samples without desolvation. Emission spectrum is simpler than in ICP-AES, the resonance lines are the most intense, so that a microspectrometer with FWHM of at least 1.5 nm is satisfactory for the record. The deviation from the Boltzmann distribution for Fe I has demonstrated the departure from the LTE in plasma. The non-spectral matrix effects of Li, Na, K, Ca and Mg on analytes emission are depressive and depend on matrix volatility, ionization potential of the interferent and analyte excitation energy. The detection limits (μg mL?1) are in the range 0.003 (Li) and 1.5 (Mn). The use of the standard additions method allowed the simultaneous determination of elements in environmental certified reference materials with overall recovery of 95 ± 10% and relative standard deviation of 1.7–8.2%. Compared to the traditional ICP, the microtorch has a simple construction, runs at low argon flow and can be integrated in a portable system suitable for in-situ simultaneous determination of elements.  相似文献
