Status of the investigation of the spin structure of d, 3H, and 3He at VBLHE using polarized and unpolarized deuteron beam

The investigation of the spin structure of d, ³H, and ³He has been performed at the RIKEN acceleration research facility and VBLHE. Vector A _y and tensor A _yy , A _xx , A _xz analyzing powers for d → ³Hen and d → ³Hp are presented at 270 MeV. Themirror channels (³Hen and ³Hp) are comparedto each other in order to find possible manifestation of charge-symmetry breaking. The preliminary results on the polarization observables for d → ³Hp at 200MeV are also presented. The obtained data are compared with one-nucleon-exchange calculations.As a byproduct, d → pX and ¹²C → pX breakup reactions are investigated at 140, 200, and 270MeV. The experimental data on p elastic scattering were obtained at 270, 880, and 2000 MeV at the Nuclotron. The polarization of the deuteron beam was measured at 270 MeV at the internal target station. The preliminary data on the vector A _y and tensor A _yy , A _xx analyzing powers for the p elastic scattering at 880 MeV are presented. The calculations on A _y , A _yy , and A _xx analyzing powers for the p elastic scattering at 880 MeV were performed in the framework of the multiple-scattering model. Properties of lead isotopes in the vicinity of the neutron drip line

On the basis of the Hartree-Fock method with Skyrme forces of the Ska, SkM*, and Sly4 type, the position of the neutron drip line and the properties of neutron-rich lead isotopes are studied with allowance for deformations. It is shown that, in extremely neutron-rich nuclei, the neutron and proton density distributions are characterized by an anomalously large deformation parameter of β ～ 0.6. Also, nuclei of superdeformed lead isotopes have anomalously large root-mean-square radii. The existence of the isotopes ^266–288Pb, which are stable to the emission of one neutron, is predicted.     

Electronic spectra and structure of some phenoxazone-type dyes

Quantum-mechanical calculations of the electronic structure and spectra of a number of phenoxazone dyes are given. The distribution analysis of pi-electron density in the ground and excited states makes clear the origin of the colour of these compounds and gives the possibility of direct assessment of organic reagents in terms of colour contrast and sensitivity of analytical reactions. This is illustrated for a series of dihydroxy derivatives of phenoxazone dyes.     

Fractionation and composition of the carbohydrates ofFicus carica

The fractional compositions of the carbohydrates of the four most promising varieties ofFicus carica L. — Smena, Kadota, Chumlakuri mtsvane, and Turetskii korichnevyi — have been investigated. The qualitative and quantitative monosaccharide compositions of the carbohydrates isolated have been determined. The bulk of the dry matter of the fruit consists of ethanol-soluble oligosaccharides — up to 74.53%. The composition of the residue obtained after the fractionation of the carbohydrates has been studied. It contains ligin bound to mineral elements.N. V. A diglyceride uronoside from streptomyces LA 7017

Functional central limit theorem for flows generated by stochastic equations with interaction

Efficient 1 W continuous-wave diode-pumped Er,Yb:YAl3(BO3)4 laser

We report the spectroscopy and high-power continuous-wave (CW) diode-pumped laser operation of Er:Yb:YAl3(BO3) crystal. Absorption and stimulated emission spectra, emission lifetimes, and efficiency of energy transfer from Yb3+ to Er3+ ions were determined. A CW Er:Yb:YAB laser emitting at 1602, 1555, and 1531 nm with output power as high as 1W and slope efficiency up to 35% was demonstrated.
