The synthesis and spectroscopic investigation of Pr(3+):YF(3) nanoparticles with nominal concentration between 0.05% and 5 at% Pr(3+) are reported. Pr(3+) emission in the visible range of the spectrum is investigated at room temperature and at 10 K as well as time resolved spectroscopy as a function of Pr(3+) concentration. The upconverted emission from the orange to the blue region is observed and the time-resolved spectroscopy of the visible emissions is discussed as a function of the doping level. A careful analysis of the decays permits identification of the main energy-transfer mechanisms that determine the population of the excited levels at various times during the decay.  相似文献

A detailed study of the spectroscopic properties of the PbF2+GeO2:Er2O3 vitroceramic sample upon 650 nm excitation was investigated. The absorption, emission, excitation spectra, and time-resolved spectra have been measured. The up-conversion of red radiation (650 nm) into UV (368 nm and 379 nm), blue (406.8 nm) and green (522 nm and 540 nm) emissions is observed for Er3+ ions in the sample. The up-conversion process involves a two-photon absorption for the violet, blue, and green emission bands. A three-photon process happens for another violet (379 nm) band.  相似文献

Abstract

This article presents an experimental study of the local heat transfer on the rotor surface in a discoidal rotor-stator system air-gap in which an air jet comes through the stator and impinges the rotor. To determine the surface temperatures, measurements were taken on the rotor, using an experimental technique based on infrared thermography. A thermal balance was used to identify the local convective heat transfer coefficient. The influence of the axial Reynolds number Re j and the rotational Reynolds number Re was measured and compared with the data available in the literature. Local convective heat transfer coefficients were obtained for a dimensionless space between the two disks G = 0.01, for Re j between 0 and 41,666, and for Re between 20,000 and 516,000. The flow data found in the literature can be used to explain the heat transfers in this small space configuration. In fact, the rotating disk can be divided into two influence zones: one dominated by the air jet near the center of the rotor and one affected by both the air jet and rotation. Heat transfers with non zero impinging jets appear to be continuously improved compared to those with no jets, even if the two influence zones mentioned previously are situated differently.  相似文献

Ca0.89Y0.11F2.11:Er3+ (CYF:Er) crystals with an erbium content of 1–15 at % have been grown. The optical spectra and luminescence kinetics of CYF:Er crystals have been investigated at low (~5 K) and room temperatures. Based on an analysis of the absorption spectra at low temperature, the structure of Stark splitting of erbium levels in CYF:Er crystals is determined. Room-temperature absorption spectra are used to calculate the spectra of absorption cross sections and oscillator strengths of transitions from the erbium ground state to excited multiplets. It is shown that the absorption spectrum of CYF:Er crystals contains broad bands in the ranges of 790–815 and 965–980 nm, which correspond to the range of emission of laser diodes. For the band peaking near 967 nm, the peak absorption cross section is σ abs max = 2.7 × 10?21 cm2. The intensity parameters are determined by the Judd-Ofelt method to be Ω2 = 1.39 × 10?20, Ω4 = 1.34 × 10?20, and Ω6 = 2.24 × 10?20 cm2. The radiative transition probabilities, radiative lifetimes, and branching ratios are calculated with these values. The luminescence decay kinetics from excited erbium levels upon selective excitation is investigated and the experimental lifetimes of the 4F 9/2, 4 S 3/2, and 4 G 11/2 radiative erbium levels are determined. The dependences of multiphonon relaxation rates on the energy gap in CYF:Er crystals are obtained. The rates of nonradiative multiphonon relaxation from radiative erbium levels are determined.  相似文献

The current work experimentally investigates the flow characteristics of an air jet impinging on an open rotor-stator system with a low non-dimensional spacing, G?=?0.02, and with a very low aspect ratio, e/D?=?0.25. The rotational Reynolds numbers varied from $0.33\times10^5$ to $5.32\times10^5$ , while the jet Reynolds numbers ranged from 17.2?×?103 to 43?×?103. Particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements were taken along the entire disk diameter in three axial planes. From the obtained PIV velocity fields, the flow statistics were computed. A recirculation flow region, which was centered at the impingement point and possessed high turbulence intensities, was observed. Local peaks in root-mean-square fluctuating velocity distributions appeared in the recirculation region and near the periphery, respectively. Proper orthogonal decomposition analysis was applied to the cases of the jet impinging on the rotor with and without rotation to reveal the coherent structures in the jet region.  相似文献

Validity and Reliability of the Reflux Symptom Index (RSI)   总被引:14,自引:0,他引:14  
Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) is present in up to 50% of patients with voice disorders. Currently, there is no validated instrument that documents symptom severity in LPR. We developed the reflux symptom index (RSI), a self-administered nine-item outcomes instrument for LPR. The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the RSI. For validity assessment, 25 patients with LPR were evaluated prospectively before and six months after b.i.d. treatment with proton pump inhibitors (PPI). Each patient completed the RSI as well as the 30-item voice handicap index (VHI). For reliability assessment, the study patients were given the RSI on two separate occasions before the initiation of treatment. Normative RSI data were derived from 25 age-matched and gender-matched controls taken from an existing database of asymptomatic individuals without any evidence of LPR. The mean RSI (+/- standard deviation) of patients with LPR improved from 21.2 (+/- 10.7) to 12.8 (+/- 10.0), and the mean VHI improved from 52.2 (+/- 24.7) to 41.5 (+/- 25.0) after 6 months of therapy (p = 0.001 and 0.065, respectively). Of the three VHI subscales (emotional, physical, functional), only the functional subscale improved significantly (p = 0.037). Patients who experienced a five point or better improvement in RSI were 11 times more likely to experience a five-point improvement in VHI (95% confidence interval = 1.7, 76.8). For reliability assessment, the first and second pretreatment RSIs were 19.9 (+/- 11.1) and 20.9 (+/- 9.6), respectively (correlation coefficient = 0.81, p < 0.001). The single-item correlation coefficients ranged from 0.41 to 0.91 (p < 0.05 for all items). The mean pretreatment RSI in patients with LPR was significantly higher than controls (21.2 versus 11.6; p < 0.001). The mean RSI of patients with LPR after 6 months of PPI therapy approached that of asymptomatic controls (p > 0.05). The RSI is easily administered, highly reproducible, and exhibits excellent construct and criterion-based validity.  相似文献

A great deal of information is accruing regarding the function of the extracellular matrix. Once thought to be simply a structural entity to surround cells, it is now known to do much more. Fibronectin in particular has received specific attention. Fibronectin is a ubiquitous glycoprotein found most abundantly in the extracellular matrix of regenerating, healing, and embryonic tissue. Vast evidence supports the fact that fibronectin participates in many diverse functions throughout the body that are relevant to vocal fold biology. This article introduces the structure of fibronectin and its isoforms and provides an introduction to some of the many functions it plays. It also reviews the evidence about fibronectin's place in vocal folds and vocal fold pathology. It discusses fibronectin's presence in vocal nodules, vocal polyps, vocal scarring, and Reinke's edema, and reviews the data on its role in mucosal wave impairment. Lastly, it discusses preliminary microarray data that show gene expression for fibronectin to be upregulated in true vocal folds when compared to false vocal folds.  相似文献

Pharyngoesophageal gastric acid reflux is thought to initiate chronic posterior laryngitis. The gold standard for measuring gastric reflux is dual-channel 24-hour pH monitoring. This is a time-consuming, inconvenient, expensive method that is not available in all areas. New therapeutic regimes that make use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) have proven to be therapeutically efficient for control of acid reflux. Twenty-four consecutive patients with chronic voice disorders and signs of posterior laryngitis were selected for therapy. Twenty-four hour pH monitoring was performed independently before the therapy. The trial therapy consisted of all patients receiving pantoprazole, 40 mg once daily for 6 weeks. Immediately following the therapy a statistically significant (p < 0.05) improvement was observed in all patients. This improvement was analyzed retrospectively by comparison with the results of 24-hour pH monitoring. In 71% of the patients the 24-hour pH-monitoring gave a positive result showing a high number of patients with extraesophageal reflux in our study group. Patients with positive results of pH-monitoring responded in a statistically significant manner (p < 0.05) to the pantoprazole therapy, whereas those patients without detected reflux did not. A 3-month follow-up of the patients with a positive result of the pH-monitoring confirmed the improvement. No patients reported adverse effects. A 6-week treatment with pantoprazole can be clinically justified. It helps to save time and reduce costs, allows for selection of reflux-negative patients for alternative therapy, and may prevent inadequate treatment of patients with false-negative pH monitoring. Twenty-four hour pH monitoring is still recommended for patients unresponsive to this trial therapy.  相似文献

The intramolecular distances of anion and cation exchanger sites of zwitterionic chiral stationary phases represent potential tuning sites for enantiomer selectivity. In this contribution, we investigate the influence of alkanesulfonic acid chain length and flexibility on enantiomer separations of chiral acids, bases, and amphoteric molecules for six Cinchona alkaloid-based chiral stationary phases in comparison with structurally related anion and cation exchangers. Employing polar-organic elution conditions, we observed an intramolecular counterion effect for acidic analytes which led to reduced retention times but did not impair enantiomer selectivities. Retention of amphoteric analytes is based on simultaneous double ion pairing of their charged functional groups with the acidic and basic sites of the zwitterionic selectors. A chiral center in the vicinity of the strong cation exchanger site is vital for chiral separations of bases. Sterically demanding side chains are beneficial for separations of free amino acids. Enantioseparations of free (un-derivatized) peptides were particularly successful in stationary phases with straight-chain alkanesulfonic acid sites, pointing to a beneficial influence of more flexible moieties. In addition, we observed pseudo-enantiomeric behavior of quinine and quinidine-derived chiral stationary phases facilitating reversal of elution orders for all analytes.  相似文献
