Three-dimensional magneto-optic trap for micro-object manipulation   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A magneto-optic trap for micro-objects is described. Magnetic beads were trapped by optical tweezers while being rotated by a new integrated magnetic manipulator. Rotation was achieved with eight electromagnets with tip-pole geometry. The time orbital potential technique was used to achieve rotation of magnetic beads. Trapping in three dimensions and rotation of magnetic beads on three axes are demonstrated with forces up to 230 pN and force momenta of up to 10(-16)N m . A position-detection apparatus based on an interferometric scheme provides nanometer sensitivities in a few milliseconds.  相似文献

The hydrothermal preparation, crystal structure determination, and magnetic study of two isomers made up of 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylate and high-spin Co(II) ions of formula [Co2(bta)(H2O)4]n x 2n H2O (1 and 2; H4bta = 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid) are reported. 1 and 2 are three-dimensional compounds whose structures can be described as (4,4) rectangular layers of trans-diaquacobalt(II) units with the bta(4-) anion acting as tetrakis-monodentate ligand through the four carboxylate groups, which are further connected through other trans-[Co(H2O)2](2+) (1) and planar [Co(H2O)4](2+) (2) entities, with the bridging units being a carboxylate group in either the anti-syn (1) or syn-syn (2) conformations and a water molecule (2). The study of the magnetic properties of 1 and 2 in the temperature range 1.9-300 K shows the occurrence of weak antiferromagnetic interactions between the high-spin Co(II) ions, with the strong decrease of chi(M)T upon cooling being mainly due to the depopulation of the higher energy Kramers doublets of the six-coordinated Co(II) ions. The computed values of the exchange coupling between the Co(II) ions across anti-syn carboxylate (1) and syn-syn carboxylate/water (2) bridges are J = -0.060 (1) and -1.90 (2) cm(-1) (with the Hamiltonian being defined as H = -Jsigma(i,j)S(i) x S(j)). These values follow the different conformations of the carboxylate bridge in 1 (anti-syn) and 2 (syn-syn) with the occurrence of a double bridge in 2 (water/carboxylate).  相似文献

Homo- and heterometallic octanuclear complexes of formula Na?{[Cu?(mpba)?][Cu(Me?dien)]?}-(ClO?)?·12H?O (1), Na?{[Cu?(Mempba)?][Cu(Me?dien)]?}(ClO?)?·12H?O (2), Na?{[Ni?(mpba)?]-[Cu(Me?dien)]?}(ClO?)?·12H?O (3), Na?{[Ni?(Mempba)?][Cu(Me?dien)]?}(ClO?)?·9H?O (4), {[Ni?(mpba)?][Ni(dipn)(H?O)]?}(ClO?)?·12.5H?O (5), and {[Ni?(Mempba)?][Ni(dipn)-(H?O)]?}(ClO?)?·12H?O (6) [mpba = 1,3-phenylenebis(oxamate), Mempba = 4-methyl-1,3-phenylenebis(oxamate), Me?dien = N,N,N',N',N'-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine, and dipn = dipropylenetriamine] have been synthesized through the "complex-as-ligand/complex-as-metal" strategy. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses of 1, 3, and 5 show cationic M(II)?M'(II)? entities (M, M' = Cu and Ni) with an overall double-star architecture, which is made up of two oxamato-bridged M(II)M'(II)? star units connected through three meta-phenylenediamidate bridges between the two central metal atoms leading to a binuclear metallacryptand core of the meso-helicate-type. Dc magnetic susceptibility data for 1-6 in the temperature range 2-300 K have been analyzed through a "dimer-of-tetramers" model [H = - J(S(1A)·S(3A) + S(1A)·S(4A) + S(1A)·S(5A) + S(2B)·S(6B) + S(2B)·S(7B) + S(2B)·S(8B)) - J'S(1A)·S(2B), with S(1A) = S(2B) = S(M) and S(3A) = S(4A) = S(5A) = S(6B) = S(7B) = S(8B) = S(M')]. The moderate to strong antiferromagnetic coupling between the M(II) and M'(II) ions through the oxamate bridge in 1-6 (-J(Cu-Cu) = 52.0-57.0 cm?1, -J(Ni-Cu) = 39.1-44.7 cm?1, and -J(Ni-Ni) = 26.3-26.6 cm?1) leads to a non-compensation of the ground spin state for the tetranuclear M(II)M'(II)? star units [S(A) = S(B) = 3S(M') - S(M) = 1 (1 and 2), 1/2 (3 and 4), and 2 (5 and 6)]. Within the binuclear M(II)? meso-helicate cores of 1-4, a moderate to weak antiferromagnetic coupling between the M(II) ions (-J'(Cu-Cu) = 28.0-48.0 cm?1 and -J'(Ni-Ni) = 0.16-0.97 cm?1) is mediated by the triple m-phenylenediamidate bridge to give a ground spin singlet (S = S(A) - S(B) = 0) state for the octanuclear M(II)?Cu(II)? molecule. Instead, a weak ferromagnetic coupling between the Ni(II) ions (J'(Ni-Ni) = 2.07-3.06 cm?1) operates in the binuclear Ni(II)? meso-helicate core of 5 and 6 leading thus to a ground spin nonet (S = S(A) + S(B) = 4) state for the octanuclear Ni(II)? molecule. Dc magnetization data for 5 reveal a small but non-negligible axial magnetic anisotropy (D = -0.23 cm?1) of the S = 4 Ni(II)? ground state with an estimated value of the energy barrier for magnetization reversal of 3.7 cm?1 (U = -DS2). Ac magnetic susceptibility data for 5 show an unusual slow magnetic relaxation behaviour at low temperatures which is typical of "cluster glasses". The temperature dependence of the relaxation time for 5 has been interpreted on the basis of the Vogel-Fulcher law for weakly interacting clusters, with values of 2.5 K, 1.4 × 10?? s, and 4.0 cm?1 for the intermolecular interaction parameter (T?), the pre-exponential factor (τ?), and the effective energy barrier (U(eff)), respectively.  相似文献

Pyrene fluorescence spectra have been recorded in five poly(alkyl methacrylate)s (where alkyl is ethyl butyl, isobutyl, cyclohexyl and hexadecyl) over a 20–400 K temperature range. The changes in the position and the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the 0–0 emission band (peak I) have been correlated with the structural characteristics of the alkyl groups in the different relaxation regimes of the polymers to assess the degree of coupling of the excited singlet states with the polymer cybotactic regions. Data treatment of the peak I positions using an electron–phonon model indicates that longitudinal optical modes are involved, and that the magnitude of coupling depends on the polymer structure and follows the same trend as the glass transition temperatures. The same spectral parameters have been correlated also with “hole” free volumes from positron annihilation spectroscopy over temperature ranges which span the glass or melting transitions of the polymers. Reasons why free volume and FWHM measurements follow the same trends, and other aspects of the systems, are discussed.  相似文献

We demonstrate the use of activation energy versus activation volume "master plots" to explore ion transport in typical fragile glass forming systems exhibiting non-Arrhenius behavior. These systems include solvent-free salt complexes in poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and low molecular weight poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) and molten 2Ca(NO3)2.3KNO3 (CKN). Plots showing variations in apparent activation energy EA versus apparent activation volume VA are straight lines with slopes given by M = DeltaEA/DeltaVA. A simple ion transport mechanism is described where the rate determining step involves a dilatation (expressed as VA) around microscopic cavities and a corresponding work of expansion (EA). The slopes of the master plots M are equated to internal elastic moduli, which vary from 1.1 GPa for liquid PPO to 5.0 GPa for molten CKN on account of differing intermolecular forces in these materials.  相似文献

Ligand.Info is a compilation of various publicly available databases of small molecules. The total size of the Meta-Database is over 1 million entries. The compound records contain calculated three-dimensional coordinates and sometimes information about biological activity. Some molecules have information about FDA drug approving status or about anti-HIV activity. Meta-Database can be downloaded from the http://Ligand.Info web page. The database can also be screened using a Java-based tool. The tool can interactively cluster sets of molecules on the user side and automatically download similar molecules from the server. The application requires the Java Runtime Environment 1.4 or higher, which can be automatically downloaded from Sun Microsystems or Apple Computer and installed during the first use of Ligand.Info on desktop systems, which support Java (Ms Windows, Mac OS, Solaris, and Linux). The Ligand.Info Meta-Database can be used for virtual high-throughput screening of new potential drugs. Presented examples showed that using a known antiviral drug as query the system was able to find others antiviral drugs and inhibitors.  相似文献

In order to determine the role of defects (vacancies and extended lattice defects) in the conductivity mechanism of a well studied organic ionic plastic crystal electrolyte, conductivity and mean defect volumes were measured. The ionic conductivity of the salt showed a characteristic phase dependence. Defect volumes, as measured by positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy, showed increasing rates of expansion with increasing rotational disorder. The dependence of ionic conductivity on defect volume was observed to be phase dependent. Increases in mean defect volume size below approximately 100 cm(3) mol(-1) did not always facilitate ionic conductivity. It was shown that the material undergoes a solid-solid phase transition to the most disordered phase (a plastic crystalline phase with the highest conductivity) when the mean defect volume becomes larger than the molar volume of either the rotating anionic or cationic species. Conductivity in this phase had the strongest dependence on defect volume. Critical volumes calculated from the free volume model of Cohen and Turnbull were unrealistically large.  相似文献

A study has been conducted to clarify the relationship between polymer structure, annealing temperature, and the extent of plasticization by high‐pressure CO2 for two typical polyimide membranes; BTDA‐DAPI (poly(3,3′‐4,4′‐benzophenone tetracarboxylic–dianhydride diaminophenylindane) and 6FDA‐TMPDA (poly(2,2′‐bis(3,4′‐dicasrboxyphenyl) hexafluoropropane dianhydride–2,3,5,6‐tetramethyl‐1,4‐phenylenediamine). Both membrane materials are exposed to varying levels of thermal annealing at 200 and 250 °C. The effect of this heat treatment on free volume is examined using positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS), whereas fluorescence spectroscopy is used to monitor changes in electronic structure. Results show that thermal annealing causes a reduction in both the size and number of free volume elements. A strong relationship is found between the fluorescence peak intensity for 6FDA‐TMPDA and both the membrane gas permeability and plasticization pressure. This correlation is most likely the result of the formation of charge transfer complexes, particularly at 250 °C. However, the formation of covalent crosslinks at these temperatures cannot be discounted. No fluorescence is observed for BTDI‐DAPI. Although thermal annealing has a significant effect on the extent of plasticization in both polymers, it is found that the rate of plasticization is unaffected by the annealing temperature. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Reaction of PhCH2Mn(CO)5 with l,4-di-aryl-1-aza-1,3-butadienes gave substituted pyrrolinonyl rings which were η4-coordinated to a Mn(CO)3 group. These are formed by intramolecular CO insertion into a (non-isolated) cyclomanganated intermediate, followed by cyclisation. Other unsaturated reagents (PhCCH, CH2CHCOOMe, PhNCO) gave products arising from insertion of these, including a structurally characterised tri-aryl-η5-azacyclohexadienyl-Mn(CO)3 complex from the reaction with the alkyne.  相似文献
