This paper reports on our study of the formation of an interface of layered structures in the Fe-Si system by reflected electron energy loss spectroscopy (REELS). Quantitative element analysis was performed using the product of the mean length of the inelastic free path by the inelastic scattering cross-section of electrons. The atomic dynamics of an Al71.3Ni24Fe4.7 decagonal quasicrystal has been investigated using the isotopic contrast method for inelastic neutron scattering. The partial
vibrational spectra of the Ni, Fe, and Al atoms and the spectrum of the thermal vibrations of the alloy have been reconstructed
directly from the experimental data without any model assumptions. The cutoff energies and the positions of the main features
of the spectra have been determined. It has been revealed that the average binding energy of the nickel atoms in the quasicrystal
under investigation is lower than that of the iron atoms and the vibrational spectrum of the aluminum atoms is noticeably
harder than the spectrum of the pure metal. The results obtained for the d-AlNiFe decagonal quasicrystal have been compared with the previously published data for an i-AlCuFe icosahedral quasicrystal. 相似文献

We have measured the melting curve of 4He in the temperature range from 10 to 400 mK with the accuracy of about 0.5 micro bar. Crystals of different quality show the expected T4 dependence in the range from 80 to 400 mK without any sign of the supersolid transition, and the coefficient is in excellent agreement with available data on the sound velocity in liquid 4He and on the Debye temperature of solid 4He. Below 80 mK, we have observed a small deviation from T4 dependence, which, however, cannot be attributed to the supersolid transition, because instead of decrease the entropy of the solid rather remains constant, about 2.5 x 10(-6) R. 相似文献

The melting pressure and pressure in the liquid at a constant density of ultrapure 4He (0.3 ppb of 3He impurities) have been measured with an accuracy of about 0.5 μbar in the temperature range from 10 to 320 mK. The measurements
show that the anomaly on the melting curve below 80 mK, which was recently observed [I. A. Todoshchenko et al., Phys. Rev.
Lett. 97, 165302 (2006)], is entirely due to an anomaly in the elastic modulus of Be-Cu from which our pressure gauge is made. Thus,
the melting pressure of 4He follows the T
4 law due to phonons in the whole temperature range from 10 to 320 mK without any attribute of a supersolid transition.

Faceting has been observed on 3He crystals investigated with a low-temperature Fabry-Pérot interferometer. Nine types of facets were clearly identified during growth of a bcc- 3He single crystal at a temperature of 0.55 mK, while previously only three types of facets have been seen. Because of the weak coupling between the liquid-solid interface and the solid lattice in 3He the facets are apparently too small to be observed in equilibrium.
