Two-dimensional cellular automata

A largely phenomenological study of two-dimensional cellular automata is reported. Qualitative classes of behavior similar to those in one-dimensional cellular automata are found. Growth from simple seeds in two-dimensiona! cellular automata can produce patterns with complicated boundaries, characterized by a variety of growth dimensions. Evolution from disordered states can give domains with boundaries that execute effectively continuous motions. Some global properties of cellular automata can be described by entropies and Lyapunov exponents. Investigation of the quantitative properties of the quadrupole orthogonal acceleration time-of-flight mass spectrometer with electrospray ionisation using 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine

This paper describes the investigation of the potential of a quadrupole orthogonal acceleration time-of-flight mass spectrometer (Q-TOF) equipped with an atmospheric pressure ionisation interface for quantitative measurements of small molecules separated by reversed phase liquid chromatography. To this end, the detection limits and linear dynamic range in particular were studied in an LC/MS/MS experiment using 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine standards and 3,4-methylenedioxyethylamphetamine for internal standardisation. In a second phase, the experiment was repeated with real biological extracts (whole blood, serum, and vitreous humour). A calibration for 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine and its metabolite 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine was prepared in each of these matrices again using 3,4-methylenedioxyethylamphetamine as internal standard. The resulting quantitative data were compared with those obtained by liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection for the same extracts. The Q-TOF results revealed excellent sensitivity and a linear dynamic range of nearly four decades (2-10 000 pg on-column, r(2) = 0.9998, 1/x weighting). Furthermore, all the calibration curves prepared in biological material were superimposable, LC/MS/MS and LC-fluorescence, and the quantitative results for actual samples compared very favourably. It was concluded that the Q-TOF achieves a linear dynamic range for quantitative LC/MS/MS work exceeding that of fluorescence detection and at much better absolute sensitivity. An upper limit to rotational cooling in superfluid helium

We present the results of a calculation and experiment which show that rotation of He II in packed powder will not produce a decrease in temperature greater than 2 × 10^-5 ° K. This is in contrast to a recent prediction.     

Noncommutative Differential Calculus Approach to Discrete Symplectic Schemes on Regular Lattice

By means of a noncommutative differential calculus on function space of discrete Abelian groups and that of the regular lattice with equal spacing as well as the discrete symplectic geometry and a kind of classical mechanical systems with separable Hamiltonian of the type H(p, q) = T(p) + V(q) on regular lattice, we introduce the discrete symplectic algorithm, i.e., the phase-space discrete counterpart of the symplectic algorithm including original symplectic schemes and the jet-symplectic schemes in terms of the discrete time jet bundle formalism, on the regular lattice. We show some numerical calculation examples and compare the results of different schemes.     

Synthesis and characterization of a tetramethyl furanone functionalized diiminedioxime,a potential ligand for Cu radiopharmaceuticals,and its copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes

As part of our on-going effort to develop ⁶⁴Cu-based radiopharmaceuticals for PET (positron emission tomography) imaging of multidrug resistance in cancer, we prepared a tetramethylfuranone-functionalized diiminedioxime ligand, TMFPreH (TMFPreH = 4-[3-(4-hydroxyimino-2,2,5,5-dimethyl-dihydro-furan-3-ylideneamino)-propylimino]-2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-dihydrofuran-3(2H)-one oxime) and its Cu(II) and Ni(II) complexes. When the copper(II) complex was prepared from Cu(ClO₄)₂ in ethanol, it was isolated as a Cu(II)-bridged dimer, but when it was prepared from Cu(OAc)₂ and heated in acetone, an unusual example of an acetone adduct of the ligand is formed by reduction of one of the imine double bonds by the solvent. The Ni(II) complex is square pyramidal with the perchlorate counterion at the apex.     

用ZEMAX软件辅助迈克耳孙干涉仪实验教学

利用ZEMAX软件设计了迈克耳孙干涉仪实验光路.软件绘制的不同显示方式的实验光路外形图,使学生对实验光路建立起了清晰的图像.通过编写ZPL程序实现了对实验现象的动态模拟,使学生对理想情况下的实验现象有一个准确的把握.通过在软件中改变光路主要参数分析了不同方面和不同程度的误差对干涉条纹的影响,其结论对学生在实验中进行有效而准确的调节起到了指导作用.     

以香豆素为基用以识别氟离子的新型比色化学传感器

以香豆素作为发色团,胺基为氢键供体,以—C=N键桥连设计合成了可裸眼识别氟离子的化学传感器1,吸收光谱结果表明在乙腈中它可以高选择性识别氟离子,光谱红移70 nm,溶液颜色由橙色变为蓝紫色,而其它离子如Cl~-、Br~-、I~-、H_2PO_4~-、NO_3~-、HSO_4~-、AcO~-等均不影响其对氟离子的识别.通过核磁共振氢谱考察其识别机制,表明传感分子通过与F~-间的质子转移反应,使整个体系电子离域,分子内电荷转移更加显著,从而导致吸收光谱大幅红移.     

Sensitivity analysis of uncertainty in model prediction

Data Collaboration is a framework designed to make inferences from experimental observations in the context of an underlying model. In the prior studies, the methodology was applied to prediction on chemical kinetics models, consistency of a reaction system, and discrimination among competing reaction models. The present work advances Data Collaboration by developing sensitivity analysis of uncertainty in model prediction with respect to uncertainty in experimental observations and model parameters. Evaluation of sensitivity coefficients is performed alongside the solution of the general optimization ansatz of Data Collaboration. The obtained sensitivity coefficients allow one to determine which experiment/parameter uncertainty contributes the most to the uncertainty in model prediction, rank such effects, consider new or even hypothetical experiments to perform, and combine the uncertainty analysis with the cost of uncertainty reduction, thereby providing guidance in selecting an experimental/theoretical strategy for community action.
