AC electric fields are of increasing importance for the generation of fluid flows in microsystems. We analyse numerically the use of AC electric fields at microwave frequencies for electro-thermal actuation of water in microdevices. Water is heated because of its significant dielectric loss at microwave frequencies. Buoyancy and dielectric forces actuate in the liquid bulk, and the relative importance between them is studied. The microwave liquid actuation can be used for pure water as well as for water saline solutions, such as bio-fluids. Therefore, it is of interest for the Lab-on-a-Chip technology.  相似文献

In this work we group four research topics apparently disconnected, namely solitons, Lorentz symmetry breaking, supersymmetry, and entropy. Following a recent work (Gleiser and Stamatopoulos, 2012), we show that it is possible to construct in the context of travelling wave solutions a configurational entropy measure in functional space, from the field configurations. Thus, we investigate the existence and properties of travelling solitons in Lorentz and CPT breaking scenarios for a class of models with two interacting scalar fields. Here, we obtain a complete set of exact solutions for the model studied which display both double and single-kink configurations. In fact, such models are very important in applications that include Bloch branes, Skyrmions, Yang–Mills, Q-balls, oscillons and various superstring-motivated theories. We find that the so-called Configurational Entropy (CE) for travelling solitons shows that the best value of parameter responsible to break the Lorentz symmetry is one where the energy density is distributed equally around the origin. In this way, the information-theoretical measure of travelling solitons in Lorentz symmetry violation scenarios opens a new window to probe situations where the parameters responsible for breaking the symmetries are arbitrary. In this case, the CE selects the best value of the parameter in the model.  相似文献

Double-chained surfactants with potential biocompatibility have been prepared in high yields by lysine acylation with four natural saturated fatty acids (C6 to C12) and with cis-undec-5-enoic acid. The surfactants were found to assemble into nanotubules in aqueous medium and, when mixed with a commercial cationic surfactant, to spontaneously form liposomes.  相似文献

A novel extraction approach was developed based on rotating-disk sorptive extraction (RDSE). In this approach the rotating-disk extraction device consists of a Teflon disk, with a cavity that is loaded with a commercial sorbent phase selected according to the polarity of the analyte. To avoid leakage of the sorbent, the cavity is covered with a fiberglass filter and sealed with a Teflon ring. The proposed novel analytical RDSE technique was used in this study to determine florfenicol levels in plasma as a model analyte, or sample system, to describe the pharmacokinetics of a veterinary formulation. The sorbent used for this application was the copolymer of divinylbenzene and N-vinylpyrrolidone (Oasis HLB), which was selected because the florfenicol molecule contains both hydrophilic and lipophilic moieties. After the extraction, final determination of the analyte was performed by HPLC–DAD. Calibration plots and other analytical features were obtained after 90 min of extraction. The calibration plot was linear over the interval 0.4–16 μg mL?1 (n?=?6), with R 2?=?0.9999. Recovery and repeatability were determined using a blank plasma sample spiked with 4.8 μg mL?1 florfenicol. A recovery of 91.5 %, with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of 8.8 %, was obtained when the extraction was evaluated using six different rotating-disk devices. Precision was also assessed, using the same disk (containing the same sorbent phase) for eight aliquots of the same sample. The RSD under these conditions was 10.2 %, clearly indicating that the sorptive phase could possibly be re-used. Accordingly, RDSE is a suitable sample preparation alternative to liquid–liquid extraction (LLE), solid-phase extraction (SPE), and stir-bar sorptive extraction (SBSE).  相似文献

Isotachophoresis (ITP) has long been used alone but also as a preconcentration technique for capillary electrophoresis (CE). Unfortunately, up to now, its application is restricted to relatively strong acids and bases as either the degree of (de)protonation is too low or the water dissociation is too high, evoking zone electrophoresis. With the comprehensive ITP analysis of all 20 proteinogenic amino acids as model analytes, we, here, show that non–aqueous ITP using dimethylsulfoxide as a solvent solves this ITP shortcoming. Dimethylsulfoxide changes the pH regime of analytes and electrolytes but, more importantly, strongly reduces the proton mobility by prohibiting hydrogen bonds and thus, the so-called Zundel–Eigen–Zundel electrical conduction mechanism of flipping hydrogen bonds. The effects are demonstrated in an electrolyte system with taurine or H+ as terminator, and imidazole as leader together with strong acids such as oxalic and even trifluoroacetic acid as counterions, both impossible to use in aqueous solution. Mass spectrometric as well as capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection (C4D) are used to follow the ITP processes. To demonstrate the preconcentration capabilities of ITP in a two-dimensional set-up, we, here, also demonstrate that our non-aqueous ITP method can be combined with capillary electrophoresis–mass spectrometry in a column-coupling system using a hybrid approach of capillaries coupled to a microfluidic interface. For this, C4D was optimized for on-chip detection with the electrodes aligned on top of a thin glass lid of the microfluidic chip.  相似文献

Nanocomposite polymer electrolytes (NPEs) were synthesized using sodium alginate (Alg) and either sodium (SCa-3-Na+)- or lithium (SCa-3-Li+)-modified montmorillonite clays. The samples were characterized by structural, optical, and electrical properties. SCa-3-Na+ and SCa-3-Li+ clays’ X-ray structural analyses revealed peaks at 2θ = 7.2° and 6.7° that corresponded to the interlamellar distances of 12.3 and 12.8 Å, respectively. Alg-based NPEs X-ray diffractograms showed exfoliated structures for samples with low clay percentages. The increase of clay content promoted the formation of intercalated structures. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy revealed that Alg-based NPEs with 5 wt% of SCa-3-Na+ clay presented the highest conductivity of 1.96 × 10−2 S/cm2, and Alg with 10 wt% of SCa-3-Li+ showed conductivity of 1.30 × 10−2 S/cm2, both measured at 70 °C. From UV-Vis spectroscopy, it was possible to infer that increasing concentration of clay promoted a decrease of the samples’ transmittance and, consequently, an increase of their reflectance.  相似文献

Atmospheric pressure O2 plasma was used to produce ozone in order to treat sugarcane bagasse as a function of particle sizes. The fixed bagasse moisture content was 50 %. The delignification efficiency had small improvement due to ozonation process as a function of particle size, varying from 75 up to 80 %. Few amounts of hemicellulose were removed, but the ozonation has not been affected significantly with particle size variance as well (from 30 up to 35 %). The cellulose presented some losses below 1.0 mm size (8–15 %) which was an unexpected result. The conversion of cellulose content into free sugar has shown a significant increase as the particle size has diminished as well. The best condition of the bagasse particle size was for 0.08 mm. For this case, a great quantity of cellulose (78.8 %) was converted into glucose. Optical absorption spectroscopy was applied to determine ozone concentrations in real time where the samples with typical bagasse particle sizes equal or below to 0.5 mm had shown a better absorption of ozone in comparison with greater particle size samples.  相似文献
