Three-dimensional organization of three-domain copper oxidases: A review

“Blue” copper-containing proteins are multidomain proteins that utilize a unique redox property of copper ions. Among other blue multicopper oxidases, three-domain oxidases belong to the group of proteins that exhibit a wide variety of compositions in amino acid sequences, functions, and occurrences in organisms. This paper presents a review of the data obtained from X-ray diffraction investigations of the three-dimensional structures of three-domain multicopper oxidases, such as the ascorbate oxidase catalyzing oxidation of ascorbate to dehydroascorbate and its three derivatives; the multicopper oxidase CueO (the laccase homologue); the laccases isolated from the basidiomycetes Coprinus cinereus, Trametes versicolor, Coriolus zonatus, Cerrena maxima, and Rigidoporus lignosus and the ascomycete Melanocarpus albomyces; and the bacterial laccases CotA from the endospore coats of Bacillus subtilis. A comparison of the molecular structures of the laccases of different origins demonstrates that, structurally, these objects are highly conservative. This obviously indicates that the catalytic activity of the enzymes under consideration is characterized by similar mechanisms.

β-Elimination in 1,1,1-Trichloro-2,2-bis(4-nitrophenyl)ethane by the Action of Sodium Nitrite in Dipolar Aprotic Solvents

The kinetics of dehydrochlorination of 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(4-nitrophenyl)ethane with sodium nitrite in dipolar aprotic solvents have been studied. Quantum chemical simulation of the process has been performed, and its thermodynamic parameters have been determined. The effects of dissociation and solvation on the rate constant have been considered. The reaction mechanism has been identified as E2H.     

2,5-Diamino-5,5-diphosphonovaleric Acid as a Ligand for an Osteotropic <Superscript>188</Superscript>Re Radiopharmaceutical

A modified method for the preparation of 2,5-diamino-5,5-diphosphonovaleric acid (DADP5) has been developed in the search for new synthetically available organic ligands to produce ¹⁸⁸Re radiopharmaceuticals with an increased accumulation in the bone tissue. Interaction of the obtained acid with ¹⁸⁸Re was studied by radio-TLC. An optimal system for separating unbound ¹⁸⁸Re and labeled complex in a yield of at least 95% was found. The biological distribution of ¹⁸⁸Re-DADP5 was studied based on direct radiometric data. The osteotropicity of ¹⁸⁸Re-DADP5 and its increased accumulation in bone fracture sites, which represent oncological pathology models, was detected at a level comparable to known radiopharmaceuticals.     

A novel one-step efficient method for the synthesis of tetrahydroindoles from 1-(1-pyrrolidino)cyclohexene and chloropyruvates

A highly efficient, one-step, versatile method for the synthesis of tetrahydroindoles has been developed on the basis of new ring formation in the reactions of 1-(1-pyrrolidino)cyclohexene with chloropyruvates.     

Studying the interaction of 10-keV electrons with a dielectric surface

The grazing incidence interaction of a 10-keV electron beam with a planar surface of plexiglass is studied experimentally. Moreover, the electron passage through flat channels formed by such surfaces is investigated. The experiments reveal the presence of a guiding effect of the electron passage as in the case of a glass surface. However, there are some features, such as the existence of an initial elevation angle for the case of negative inclination angles of the plate. The formation of self-consistent charge on the surface of the plexiglass and its drain when the current is turned off occur more slowly than on the glass surface. This fact points to the difference in the surface conductivity of insulators.     

Fused polycyclic nitrogen-containing heterocycles 20. Thiazolo[3,4-<Emphasis Type="Italic">a</Emphasis>]quinoxalines from 4-hydroxy-2-phenyliminothiazolidines and C-substituted 1,2-phenylenediamines

The condensation of 4-hydroxy-3,5-diphenyl-2-phenyliminothiazolidine with 4,5-dimethyl-1,2-phenylenediamine affords 7,8-dimethyl-3-phenyl-1-phenyliminothiazolo[3,4-a]quinox-alin-4(5 H)- one; the condensation with 1,2-phenylenediamines containing different substituents at positions 4 and 5 gives both theoretically possible isomeric thiazolo[3,4-a]quinoxalines, which differ in the distribution of these substituents between positions 7 and 8 in the benzene ring of the quinoxaline system. 3a-Hydroxy-7,8-dimethyl-3-phenyl-l-phenylimino-3,3a-di-hydrothiazolo[3,4-a]quinoxalin4(5 H)- one was isolated and characterized as the intermediate of the reaction giving rise to thiazolo[3,4-a]quinoxaline from 4,5-dimethyl-1,2-phenylene-diamine. This intermediate is a covalent hydrate of the final product.     

Nature of Local Symmetry Violations of Ions in the Magnetic Subsystem of Magnetoplumbite Crystal,According to Raman Scattering Spectroscopy Data

The structure of an M-type lead hexaferrite (magnetoplumbite) crystal is studied via the diffraction of synchrotron radiation. The crystal model contains two iron ions positions with dynamic disorder. The dynamics of the crystal lattice in the temperature range of 80 to 775 K is studied by Raman scattering. Particular attention is given to the discussing the nature of the local disorder of iron ions in the trigonal bipyramidal environment of oxygen ions.
