LetB be the unit ball ofC ⁿ , I give necessary conditions on sequenceS of points inB to beH ^∞(B) interpolating in term of aC ⁿ valued holomorphic function zero onS (a substitute for the interpolating Blaschke product). These conditions are sufficient to prove that the sequenceS is interpolating for ∩ _p>1 (B) and is also interpolating forH ^p (B) for 1≤p<∞.     

New Oleic Acid-Capped Mesoporous Silica Particles as Surfactant-Responsive Delivery Systems

A new delivery microdevice, based on hydrophobic oleic acid-capped mesoporous silica particles and able to payload release in the presence of surfactants, has been developed. The oleic acid functionalization confers to the system a high hydrophobic character, which avoids cargo release unless surfactant molecules are present. The performance of this oleic-acid capped microdevice in the presence of different surfactants is presented and its zero-release operation in the absence of surfactants is demonstrated.

Synthesis and Diversification of Macrocyclic Alkynediyl Sulfide Peptides

The synthesis of rare macrocyclic alkynediyl sulfides by a Cu-catalyzed C_sp−S cross-coupling is presented. The catalytic protocol (Cu(MeCN)₄PF₆/dtbbpy) promotes macrocyclization of peptides, dipeptides and tripeptides at ambient temperature (14 examples, 23→73 % yields) via thiols and bromoalkynes, and is chemoselective with regards to terminal alkynes. Importantly, the underexplored alkynediyl sulfide functionality incorporates a rigidifying structural element and opens new opportunities for diversification of macrocyclic frameworks through S oxidation, halide addition and azide–alkyne cycloaddition chemistries to integrate sulfones, halides or valuable fluorophores (7 examples, 37→92 % yields).

A MODEL FOR ESTIMATING PREMIUMS TO REDUCE IRRIGATION ON FARMS

Abstract This paper aims to determine the minimum agri‐environmental premium per hectare that farmers should receive to reduce crop irrigation. To this end, the authors develop a mixed‐integer quadratic model using a new methodology based on traditional positive mathematical programming, which allows the inclusion in the model of crop variants that are not present in the baseline situation of the farms. What is shown is that the results obtained with this new methodology, using the cost average approach of calibration, are the same as those obtained with an empirical method, when there is no change of crop distribution after the changeover from irrigated to nonirrigated farms. The theoretical results are compared with those obtained using the calibration with exogenous elasticities and are illustrated numerically for a representative farm of an area around Spain's Tablas de Daimiel in which the use of groundwater for crop irrigation has led to the ongoing deterioration of wetlands that depend on the same source of water, endangering the region's environmental sustainability.
