Counterpoise estimates of the BSSE in the evaluation of protonation energies have been calculated for basis sets ranging from minimal to split-valence plus polarization quality. Three-, five- and six-membered-ring heterocycles have been chosen as suitable model compounds for this study. Counterpoise corrections are significant, at the minimal basis set and 3–21G levels, when considering both, absolute and relative protonation energies and depend on the nature of the centre which undergoes protonation. In general, second- and third-order counterpoise corrections to the protonation energies are comparable to the corresponding SCF values. BSSE depend not only on the size of the basis sets but also on their quality. The presence in the basis of quite diffuse functions (either sp or d) leads to lower protonation energies and greater BSSE. Relative protonation energies are not substantially affected by BSSE or correlation effects.  相似文献

The deprotonation of Cu2+ complexes with uracil, 2-thiouracil, 4-thiouracil, and 2,4-dithiouracil has been investigated by means of B3LYP/ 6-311+G(2df,2p)//6-31G(d) calculations. The most stable [(uracil-H)Cu]+ and [(thiouracil-H)Cu]+ complexes correspond to bidentate structures in which Cu interacts with the deprotonated ring-nitrogen atom and with the oxygen or the sulfur atom of the adjacent carbonyl or thiocarbonyl group. For 2- and 4-thiouracil derivatives, the structures in which the metal cation interacts with the thiocarbonyl group are clearly favored with respect to those in which Cu interacts with the carbonyl group. This is at variance with what was found to be the most stable structure of the corresponding Cu2+ complexes, where association to the carbonyl oxygen was always preferred over the association to the thiocarbonyl group. The [(uracil-H)Cu]+ and [(thiouracil-H)Cu]+ complexes can be viewed as the result of Cu+ attachment to the uracil-H and thiouracil-H radicals formed by the deprotonation of the corresponding uracil+* and thiouracil+* radical cations. As a matter of fact their relative stability is dictated by the intrinsic stability of the corresponding uracil-H and thiouracil-H radical and by the fact that, in general, the N3-deprotonated site is a better electron donor than the N1. In all complexes, the bonding of Cu both to nitrogen and sulfur and to nitrogen and oxygen has a significantly large covalent character.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was ultrastructural characterization of liposomes-entrapped chondroitin sulphate and to prove their in vitro biocompatibility in a human dermal fibroblast culture system, in order to use liposome-entrapped chondroitin sulphate in the treatment of inflammatory disorders. Chondroitin sulphate entrapped in liposomes appears as electron-dense particles in ultra-thin section. Comparative studies using chondroitin sulphate, empty liposomes and liposome-chondroitin sulphate systems were performed in order to evaluate their effect on growth and morphology of fibroblasts after 48 h of culture. Light microscopy indicated that chondroitin sulphate, empty liposomes and liposome-chondroitin sulphate systems do not induce appreciable cytotoxic effects, and cells maintain normal morphology when compared to control fibroblasts.  相似文献

The Lewis basicity of a series of phosphoryl compounds was examined using DFT and ab initio methods, including solvation effects. The enthalpies of adduct formation with two archetypal Lewis acids, antimony pentachloride and boron trifluoride, used to define the donor number DN and the BF3 affinity (BF3A) respectively, were examined. The BF3 adducts allow the use of the high-accuracy G4 approach, whereas for SbCl5 adducts, three different DFT formalisms, including empirical dispersion corrections, were used because the G4 formalism is not available for third-row elements. For a comparison with experimental data, solvation effects were taken into account by using the polarizable continuum model. The experimental BF3 affinities were well reproduced by G4 calculations when including PCM solvation. Conversely, comparisons of our calculated values and experimental results reported in the literature show that SbCl5 enthalpies for phosphoramides are in error. In particular the DN for HMPA should be revised.  相似文献

Through the use of ab initio theoretical models based on MP2/aug‐cc‐pVDZ‐optimized geometries and CCSD(T)/aug‐cc‐pVTZ and CCSD(T)/aug‐c‐pVDZ total energies, it has been shown that the significant electron density rearrangements that follow the formation of a beryllium bond may lead to the appearance of a σ‐hole in systems that previously do not exhibit this feature, such as CH3OF, NO2F, NO3F, and other fluorine‐containing systems. The creation of the σ‐hole is another manifestation of the bond activation–reinforcement (BAR) rule. The appearance of a σ‐hole on the F atoms of CH3OF is due to the enhancement of the electronegativity of the O atom that participates in the beryllium bond. This atom recovers part of the charge transferred to Be by polarizing the valence density of the F into the bonding region. An analysis of the electron density shows that indeed this bond becomes reinforced, but the F atom becomes more electron deficient with the appearance of the σ‐hole. Importantly, similar effects are also observed even when the atom participating in the beryllium bond is not directly attached to the F atom, as in NO2F, NO3F, or NCF. Hence, whereas the isolated CH3OF, NO2F, and NO3F are unable to yield F ??? Base halogen bonds, their complexes with BeX2 derivatives are able to yield such bonds. Significant cooperative effects between the new halogen bond and the beryllium bond reinforce the strength of both noncovalent interactions.  相似文献

The gas-phase lithium cation basicities (LCBs; Gibbs free energy of binding) of ethyl-, n-butyl-, and n-heptylbenzene have been measured by Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) mass spectrometry. The structures of the corresponding complexes and their relative stabilities were investigated through the use of B3LYP/6-311G(+)(3df,2p)//B3LYP/6-31G(d) density functional theory calculations. For n-butylbenzene and n-heptylbenzene, the most stable adducts correspond to pi complexes in which the alkyl chain coils toward the aromatic ring to favor its interaction with the metal cation. The extra stabilization provided by the flexible alkyl chain polarized by the charge on Li(+) is named the "scorpion effect". Conversely, these coiled conformations are among the least stable in the neutral system; they are not all stationary points on the potential-energy surface. The formation of complexes with a coiled alkyl chain leads to a significant enhancement of the Li(+) bonding energies (LBEs), which are approximately 20-30 kJ mol(-1) higher than those calculated for alkylbenzene pi complexes in which an uncoiled chain remains distant from the cation and thus minimizes the scorpion effect. This enhancement is less significant when LCBs are concerned, because the scorpion effect is entropically disfavored. There is very good agreement between the experimental Li(+) gas-phase basicities and the calculated values, provided that the statistical distribution of the conformers present in the gas phase is taken into account in this calculation.  相似文献

(1) The metabolic syndrome (MS) promotes acute and chronic infections, due to the pro-inflammatory condition given by TNFα and IL6 or by affecting the microbiota. MS is also correlated with insulin resistance, causing inflammation and infections throughout the organism. (2) The purpose of this study was to track the effect of using the essential oil of Origanum vulgare L. (EOO) as an antibacterial treatment, compared to allopathic treatment with antibiotics in MS patients. A group of 106 people with MS was divided into four subgroups: L1—staphylococcal infection group, L2—Escherichia coli infection group, L3—streptococcal infection group with EOO treatment, and CG—control group without infection or treatment. (3) EOO is responsible for the antibacterial effect, and reduced minor uncomplicated infections. After a 10-day treatment, intestinal side effects were absent, improving the phase angle. (4) The results suggest that EOO may exhibit an antibacterial effect, similar to the antibiotic treatment, without promoting MS-specific dysbiosis, and it also improves the phase angle in patients, which is used as an index of health and cellular function.  相似文献

The character of the electronic structure of acenes has been the subject of longstanding discussion. However, convincing experimental evidence of their open-shell character has so far been missing. Here, we present the on-surface synthesis of tridecacene molecules by thermal annealing of octahydrotridecacene on a Au(111) surface. We characterized the electronic structure of the tridecacene by scanning probe microscopy, which reveals the presence of an inelastic signal at 126 meV. We attribute the inelastic signal to spin excitation from the singlet diradical ground state to the triplet excited state. To rationalize the experimental findings, we carried out many-body ab initio calculations as well as model Hamiltonians to take into account the effect of the metallic substrate. Moreover, we provide a detailed analysis of how the dynamic electron correlation and virtual charge fluctuation between the molecule and metallic surface reduces the singlet-triplet band gap. Thus, this work provides the first experimental confirmation of the magnetic character of tridecacene.  相似文献
