Here, it is shown that the M3B12 (M = Cu-Au) clusters’ global minima consist of an elongated planar B12 fragment connected by an in-plane linear M3 fragment. This result is striking since this B12 planar structure is not favored in the bare cluster, nor when one or two metals are added. The minimum energy structures were revealed by screening the potential energy surface using genetic algorithms and density functional theory calculations. Chemical bonding analysis shows that the strong electrostatic interactions with the metal compensate for the high energy spent in the M3 and B12 fragment distortion. Furthermore, metals participate in the delocalized π-bonds, which infers an aromatic character to these species.  相似文献

Investigation into nanostructured organic films has served many purposes, including the design of functionalized surfaces that may be applied in biomedical devices and tissue engineering and for studying physiological processes depending on the interaction with cell membranes. Of particular relevance are Langmuir monolayers, Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) and layer-by-layer (LbL) films used to simulate biological interfaces. In this review, we shall focus on the use of vibrational spectroscopy methods to probe molecular-level interactions at biomimetic interfaces, with special emphasis on three surface-specific techniques, namely sum frequency generation (SFG), polarization-modulated infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (PM-IRRAS) and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). The two types of systems selected for exemplifying the potential of the methods are the cell membrane models and the functionalized surfaces with biomolecules. Examples will be given on how SFG and PM-IRRAS can be combined to determine the effects from biomolecules on cell membrane models, which include determination of the orientation and preservation of secondary structure. Crucial information for the action of biomolecules on model membranes has also been obtained with PM-IRRAS, as is the case of chitosan removing proteins from the membrane. SERS will be shown as promising for enabling detection limits down to the single-molecule level. The strengths and limitations of these methods will also be discussed, in addition to the prospects for the near future.  相似文献

Luminescent zinc-based hybrid inorganic–organic films with rare--earth (RE) complexes have been prepared using a non-alkoxide sol–gel process. The films were fabricated by the dip-coating method starting from zinc acetate dihydrate, rare earth chloride, lactic acid as hydrolytic catalyst, and anhydrous ethanol. The β-diketones thenoylltrifluoroacetone (Httfa) and dibenzoylmethane (Hdbm) were used as ligands to Eu3+ and Tb3+, respectively. After deposition of the first layer, the films were fired at temperatures between 50 and 300 °C, in air. Photophysical properties such as excitation, emission and emission, lifetimes were determined for the films obtained in different conditions. Eu3+/ttfa and Tb3+/dbm films fired at 300 and 250 °C, respectively, are still transparent and gave rise to intense emission when excited through the ligand (antenna effect).  相似文献

Layer‐by‐layer (LBL) films consisting of layers of the azo dye Sunset Yellow alternated with chitosan display spontaneous birefringence, which is attributed to the film anisotropy imparted by the LBL method. This is unusual for azobenzene‐containing materials as they normally form films with randomly oriented molecules, presenting birefringence only due to photoinduced isomerization cycles. Spontaneous birefringence does not appear in cast films, but occurs for LBL films obtained under various experimental conditions.

The oxygen atom transfer-electron transfer (ET) mechanistic dichotomy has been investigated in the oxidation of a number of aryl sulfides by H2O2 in acidic (pH 3) aqueous medium catalysed by the water soluble iron(III) porphyrin 5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-21H,23H-porphine-p,p',p",p"'-tetrasulfonic acid iron(III) chloride (FeTPPSCl). Under these reaction conditions, the iron-oxo complex porphyrin radical cation, P+. Fe(IV)=O, should be the active oxidant. When the oxidation of a series of para-X substituted phenyl alkyl sulfides (X = OCH3, CH3, H, Br, CN) was studied the corresponding sulfoxides were the only observed product and the reaction yields as well as the reactivity were little influenced by the nature of X as well as by the bulkiness of the alkyl group. Labelling experiments using H(2)18O or H(2)18O2 clearly indicated that the oxygen atom in the sulfoxides comes exclusively from the oxidant. Moreover, no fragmentation products were observed in the oxidation of a benzyl phenyl sulfide whose radical cation is expected to undergo cleavage of the beta C-H and C-S bonds. These results would seem to suggest a direct oxygen atom transfer from the iron-oxo complex to the sulfide. However, competitive experiments between thioanisole (E degree = 1.49 V vs. NHE in H2O) and N,N-dimethylaniline (E degree = 0.97 V vs. NHE in H2O) resulted in exclusive N-demethylation, whereas the oxidation of N-methylphenothiazine (10, E degree = 0.95 V vs. NHE in CH3CN) and N,N-dimethyl-4-methylthioaniline (11, E degree = 0.65 V vs. NHE in H2O) produced the corresponding sulfoxide with complete oxygen incorporation from the oxidant. Since an ET mechanism must certainly hold in the reactions of 10 and 11, the oxygen incorporation experiments indicate that the intermediate radical cation, once formed, has to react with PFe(IV)=O (the reduced form of the iron-oxo complex which is formed by the ET step) in a fast oxygen rebound. Thus, an ET step followed by a fast oxygen rebound is also suggested for the other sulfides investigated in this work.  相似文献

Steady-state and laser flash photolysis (LFP) studies of a series of aryl triphenylmethyl sulfides [1, 3,4-(CH(3)O)(2)-C(6)H(3)SC(C(6)H(5))(3); 2, 4-CH(3)O-C(6)H(4)SC(C(6)H(5))(3); 3, 4-CH(3)-C(6)H(4)SC(C(6)H(5))(3); 4, C(6)H(5)SC(C(6)H(5))(3); and 5, 4-Br-C(6)H(4)SC(C(6)H(5))(3)] has been carried out in the presence of N-methoxyphenanthridinium hexafluorophosphate in CH(3)CN, CH(2)Cl(2), CH(2)Cl(2)/CH(3)CN, and CH(2)Cl(2)/CH(3)OH mixtures. Products deriving from the C-S bond cleavage in the radical cations 1(?+)-5(?+) have been observed in the steady-state photolysis experiments. Time-resolved LFP showed first-order decay of the radical cations accompanied by formation of the triphenylmethyl cation. A significant decrease of the C-S bond cleavage rate constants was observed by increasing the electron-donating power of the arylsulfenyl substituent, that is, by increasing the stability of the radical cations. DFT calculations showed that, in 2(?+) and 3(?+), charge and spin densities are mainly localized in the ArS group. In the TS of the C-S bond cleavage an increase of the positive charge in the trityl moiety and of the spin density on the ArS group is observed. The higher delocalization of the charge in the TS as compared to the initial state is probably at the origin of the observation that the C-S bond cleavage rates decrease by increasing the polarity of the solvent.  相似文献

Electroactive nanostructured films of chitosan (Ch) and tetrasulfonated metallophthalocyanines containing nickel (NiTsPc), copper (CuTsPc), and iron (FeTsPc) were produced via the electrostatic layer-by-layer (LbL) technique. The multilayer formation was monitored with UV-vis spectroscopy by measuring the increase of the Q-band absorption from metallophthalocyanines. Results from transmission and reflection infrared spectroscopy suggested specific interactions between SO(3)(-) groups from metallophthalocyanines and NH(3)(+) from chitosan. The electroactive multilayered films assembled onto an ITO electrode were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, with Ch/NiTsPc films showing higher stability and well-defined voltammograms displaying reversible redox peaks at 0.80 and 0.75 V. These films could be used to detect dopamine (DA) in the concentration range from 5.0 x 10(-6) to 1.5 x 10(-4) mol L(-1). Also, ITO-(Ch/NiTsPc)(n)() electrodes showed higher electrocatalytic activity for DA oxidation when compared with a bare ITO electrode. On the other hand, only the Ch/FeTsPc and Ch/CuTsPc modified electrodes could distinguish between DA and ascorbic acid. These results demonstrate that versatile electrodes can be prepared by incorporation of different metallophthalocyanine molecules in LbL films, which may be used in bioanalytical applications.  相似文献

The fabrication of controlled molecular architectures is essential for organic devices, as is the case of emission of polarized light for the information industry. In this study, we show that optimized conditions can be established to allow layer‐by‐layer (LbL) films of poly(p‐phenylene vinylene) (PPV)+dodecylbenzenesulfonate (DBS) to be obtained with anisotropic properties. Films with five layers and converted at 110 °C had a dichroic ratio δ = 2.3 and order parameter r = 34%, as indicated in optical spectroscopy and emission ellipsometry data. This anisotropy was decreased with the number of layers deposited, with δ = 1.0 for a 75‐layer LbL PPV + DBS film. The analysis with atomic force microscopy showed the formation of polymer clusters in a random growth process with the normalized height distribution being represented by a Gaussian function. In spite of this randomness in film growth, the self‐covariance function pointed to a correlation between clusters, especially for thick films. In summary, the LbL method may be exploited to obtain both anisotropic films with polarized emission and regular, nanostructured surfaces. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
