Summary The kinetics of oxidation of 2-methoxyethanol and 2ethoxyethanol by vanadium (V) in aqueous sulphuric acid medium has been studied. Monte Carlo simulations have been performed for aqueous charged colloidal suspensions as a function of effective charge density (sigma) on the particles and salt concentration C(s). We vary the effective charge density in our simulations over a range where a reentrant solid-liquid transition in suspensions of silica and polymer latex particles has been reported by Yamanaka et al. (Phys. Rev. Lett. 80 (1998) 5806). We show that at low ionic strengths a homogeneous liquid-like ordered suspension undergoes crystallization upon increasing sigma. Further increase in sigma resulted once again in a disordered state, which is in agreement with experimental observations. In addition to this reentrant order-disorder transition, we observe an inhomogeneous-to-homogeneous transition in our simulations when salt is added to the disordered inhomogeneous state. This inhomogeneous-to-homogeneous disordered transition is analogous to the solid-gas transition of atomic systems and has not yet been observed in charged colloids. The reported experimental observations on charged colloidal suspensions are discussed in the light of present simulation results. 相似文献

This paper contains general transformation techniques useful to convert minimax problems of optimal control into the Mayer-Bolza problem of the calculus of variations [Problem (P)]. We consider two types of minimax problems: minimax problems of Type (Q), in which the minimax function depends on the state and does not depend on the control; and minimax problems of Type (R), in which the minimax function depends on both the state and the control. Both Problem (Q) and Problem (R) can be reduced to Problem (P).For Problem (Q), we exploit the analogy with a bounded-state problem in combination with a transformation of the Jacobson type. This requires the proper augmentation of the state vectorx(t), the control vectoru(t), and the parameter vector , as well as the proper augmentation of the constraining relations. As a result of the transformation, the unknown minimax value of the performance index becomes a component of the parameter vector being optimized.For Problem (R), we exploit the analogy with a bounded-control problem in combination with a transformation of the Valentine type. This requires the proper augmentation of the control vectoru(t) and the parameter vector , as well as the proper augmentation of the constraining relations. The aqueous polymerization of acrylonitrile initiated by an acidified bromate–thiourea redox system has been studied under nitrogen atmosphere. The rate of polymerization is independent of thiourea concentration over the range 2–9 × 10?3M and reaches maximum at 9 × 10?3M. The rate varies linearly with [monomer]. The initial rate of polymerization as well as the maximum conversion increases within the range of 4–22.5 × 10?3M KBrO3, but beyond 22.5 × 10?3M the rate of polymerization decreases. The initial rate and the limiting conversion increases with increasing polymerization temperature in the range 30–45°C; and beyond 45°C they decrease. The effect of certain neutral salts, water-soluble solvents, and micelles of cationic, anionic, and nonionic surfactants on the rate of polymerization has been investigated. 相似文献

Viscosity behaviour of several samples ofGraham's salt with varying molecular weight has been studied. Reduced viscosity (η sp /c) versus concentration curves were found to be characteristic of polyelectrolytes. They are dependent on the molecular weight and can be reduced to straight lines by plotting the reciprocal of the reduced viscosity against the square root of concentration. The intrinsic viscosities obtained by extrapolation were found to be proportional to the square of molecular weights. The value of reduced viscosity at any particular concentration in the concentration range between 0.25% and 4.0% was linearly related to the molecular weight. Reduced viscosities were found to decrease considerably on addition of electrolytes. Reduced viscosity versus added salt concentration curves were remarkably molecular weight dependent. The pH of the medium seemed to have no effect at all. Bivalent salts reduce the viscosity to a much greater extent than monovalent ones. By keeping the concentration of the added salt constant and varying that ofGraham's salt, curves showing hump which disappeared at higher concentration of the added salt, were obtained. In the action of electrolytes the more important factor is the valency of cation rather than the ionic strength of the medium. Plant gums are bio-organic substances that are derived from the barks of trees. They are biodegradable and non-adverse complex polysaccharides that have been gaining usage in recent years due to a number of advantages they contribute to various applications. In this study, gum was collected from Moringa oleifera and Azadirachta indica trees, then dried and powdered. Characterizations of gum polysaccharides were performed using TLC, GC-MS, NMR, etc., and sugar molecules such as glucose and xylose were found to be present. Effects of the gums on Abelmoschus esculentus growth were observed through root growth, shoot growth, and biomass content. The exposure of the seeds to the plant gums led to bio stimulation in the growth of the plants. Poor quality soil was exposed to the gum polysaccharide, where the polysaccharide was found to improve soil quality, which was observed through soil analysis and SEM analysis of soil porosity and structure. Furthermore, the plant gums were also found to have bio-pesticidal activity against mealybugs, which showed certain interstitial damage evident through histopathological analysis. 相似文献

Objective: The present study aimed to develop and optimize esomeprazole loaded proniosomes (EZL-PNs) to improve bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy. Method: EZL-PNs formulation was developed by slurry method and optimized by 33 box-Bhekhen statistical design software. Span 60 (surfactant), cholesterol, EZL concentration were taken as independent variables and their effects were evaluated on vesicle size (nm), entrapment efficiency (%, EE) and drug release (%, DR). Furthermore, optimized EZL-PNs (EZL-PNs-opt) formulation was evaluated for ex vivo permeation, pharmacokinetic and ulcer protection activity. Result: The EZL-PNs-opt formulation showed 616 ± 13.21 nm of vesicle size, and 81.21 ± 2.35% of EE. EZL-PNs-opt exhibited negative zeta potential and spherical confirmed scanning electron microscopy. EZL-PNs-opt showed sustained release of EZL (95.07 ± 2.10% in 12 h) than pure EZL dispersion. The ex-vivo gut permeation result exhibited a significantly (p < 0.05) enhanced flux than pure EZL. The in vivo results revealed 4.02-fold enhancement in bioavailability and 61.65% protection in ulcer than pure EZL dispersion (43.82%). Conclusion: Our findings revealed that EZL-PNs formulation could be an alternative delivery system of EZL to enhance oral bioavailability and antiulcer activity. 相似文献

Nucleation capacity of organically modified natural montmorillonite within the surface-treated banana fiber (BF)-reinforced PLA biocomposites has been studied using DSC analysis in the present investigation. Both the surface treatments and nanoclays play vital roles in the variation in nucleation process of PLA during cold crystallization process. Biocomposite made up of silane-treated BF and its bionanocomposite prepared using cloisite 30B (C30B) were showed superior nucleation parameters, n and K values, in the Avrami plots. Enhanced equilibrium melting point and lower E a suggests the reinforcing effect imparted by the BF surface treatments and C30B within the PLA matrix. Even though, Louritzen–Hoffmann theory was revealed that no change in crystallization regimes of PLA even after the biocomposite and bionanocomposite preparation. TG analysis revealed better heat barrier capacity for all the biocomposites and bionanocomposites in comparison with virgin PLA (V-PLA). Increased storage modulus values for biocomposites and bionanocomposites also confirm the reinforcing effects of the fillers. Heat deflection temperature and the flammability studies concluded better application window for newly developed materials than that V-PLA. 相似文献
