A Mach–Zehnder interferometer formed in single mode fiber is implemented. The interferometer is built by two mechanically-induced long-period gratings. In addition, a fiber taper in the middle section is inserted. The spectral properties of the whole system are analyzed. Visibility of the interference fringes up to 0.80 (the higher ever reported using mechanically-induced long-period gratings) with fringe spacing in the 4.1 to 0.86 nm range are experimentally demonstrated. The proposed device allows reducing the fiber diameter of the section between gratings with a minimal effect in the interference fringe spacing. The sensitivity of the interferometer to external refractive index changes was also studied. It is experimentally shown that, due to the nature of the cladding mode excited, it is necessary to taper the fiber to improve the system sensitivity to external refractive index. Fiber tapers with different diameter, inserted between the long-period gratings pair were fabricated and tested for measuring external refractive index changes. A maximum resolution of 2.3×10?4 RIU in a refractive index range from 1.36 to 1.402 is achieved.  相似文献

In this work, a quantitative comparison between experimental swelling data of thermo-sensitive microgels and computer simulation results obtained from a coarse-grained model of polyelectrolyte network and the primitive model of electrolyte is carried out. Polymer-polymer hydrophobic forces are considered in the model through a solvent-mediated interaction potential whose depth increases with temperature. The qualitative agreement between simulation and experiment is very good. In particular, our simulations predict a gradual shrinkage with temperature, which is actually observed for the microgels studied in this survey. In addition, the model can explain the swelling behavior for different contents of ionizable groups without requiring changes in the hydrophobic parameters. Our work also reveals that the abruptness of the shrinkage of charged gels is considerably conditioned by the number of monomeric units per chain. The swelling data are also analyzed with the Flory-Rhener theory, confirming some limitations of this classical formalism.  相似文献

Herein we present the simple fabrication of magneto-polymer nanostructured composites. Specifically, large aspect ratio polymer-based magnetic nanotubes and nanorods have been prepared by means of wetting nanoporous hard templates with loaded polymer melts and solutions, respectively. Morphological characteristics of both one-dimensional composite nanostructures were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy. Moreover, important parameters of the materials such as elemental composition and distribution of the metallic elements were determined by means of X-ray diffraction, and Rutherford backscattering. The different confinement topology of the nanoparticles within the nanorods and the nanotubes leads to a stronger (i.e. ferro-) magnetic response of nanotube arrays, as determined by magnetometry. The magnetic measurements also allowed estimating the concentration of nanoparticles by means of properly fitting experimental data to a sum of different magnetic contributions to the total magnetic moment. The morphological, structural, compositional and magnetic characteristics of nanotubes and nanorods are related to the different wetting approaches used. It has to be noted that, to our knowledge, we present here the first example of nanoparticulated polymer-based composite nanotubes synthesized from the melt, which, indeed seems to be at the origin of their high morphological and compositional quality. The potential of Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy for characterizing soft composite nanostructures has to be also remarked.  相似文献

Phenylselenyl benzylcarbanion stabilized by an (S)-2-p-tolylsulfinyl group evolves in a highly stereoselective way in the reactions with (S)-N-(p-tolylsulfinyl)imines at -98 °C affording diastereomerically pure 1,2-selenoamino derivatives in good yields. The syn or anti relationship of the obtained compounds depends on the alkyl or aryl character of the imine. They are easily transformed into enantiomerically pure (1R,2S)-1-aryl[or (1S,2S)-1-alkyl]-2-(phenylseleno)-2-phenylethylamines by reaction with t-BuLi and subsequent methanolysis of the generated sulfinamide derivatives with TFA.  相似文献

The densities at high pressures of 1-butanol and iso-octane were measured in the range (0.1 to 140) MPa at seven different temperatures, from (273.15 to 333.15) K, and their mixtures were measured in the range (0.1 to 50) MPa at four different temperatures, from (273.15 to 333.15) K. The measurements were performed in a high-pressure vibrating tube densimeter. The pressure–volume–temperature behavior of these compounds and their mixtures was evaluated accurately over a wide range of temperatures and pressures. The data were successfully correlated with the empirical Tamman–Tait equation. The experimental data and the correlations were used to study the behavior and the influence of temperature and pressure on the isothermal compressibility and the isobaric thermal expansivity.Also, the isobaric heat capacities were measured over the range (0.1 to 25) MPa at two different temperatures (293.15 and 313.15) K for the pure compounds and their mixtures. The measurements were performed in a high-pressure automated flow calorimeter. The excess molar heat capacities were assessed for the mixture and a positive deviation from the ideality was obtained.  相似文献

A series of new 4H-pyran-4-ylidene donor-based chromophores with a thiophene ring in the spacer has been synthesized. The linear and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of these compounds have been determined and compared with the results of computational calculations. The position of the thiophene ring proved essential to optimize the figure of merit μβ, with the best results obtained when the heterocyclic system was closer to the donor moiety.  相似文献
