The asymptotic analysis of the nonlinear vibrations of a charged drop that are induced by a multi-mode initial deformation of its equilibrium shape is performed. It is shown that when two, three, or several neighboring modes are present in the initial deformation spectrum, the mode with the number one (translational mode) appears in the second-order mode spectrum. The excitation of the translational mode follows from the requirement of center-of-mass immobility and causes the dipole components (which are absent in the linear analysis) to appear in the spectra of the acoustic and electromagnetic radiation of the charged drop.  相似文献

The ideas developed by Gell-Mann and Okubo in studying violation of unitary symmetry are used to describe violation of isototic invariance in strong interactions. The present consideration is performed for the example of the mass spectrum of the octet formed by baryons of spin-parity 1/2+: only for this family are the widths of its particles much less than the scale of the effects being investigated, their masses being known from experiments to a fairly high precision. The Gell-Mann-Okubo formula is generalized in such a way that relations both for the splitting between the isomultiplets of the octet and for the mass splitting within these isomultiplets follow from the new formula. Moreover, a relation between masses that describes their electromagnetic splitting and which coincides in form with the Coleman-Glashow relation also follows from this formula. The relations obtained for the masses of the baryons belonging to the octet in question are satisfied to a precision not poorer than 3%.  相似文献

Eight emission spectra of pure N2O and N2O + N2 + He mixtures excited by a radio frequency discharge were recorded by Fourier Transform Spectroscopy at a resolution of 0.005 and 0.004 cm−1 in the 4.5 μm region. Results (wavenumbers, band centers, and spectroscopic constants) concerning nine new vibrational transitions which have not been observed before, and which occur between highly excited levels of the bending mode are reported. The derived spectroscopic parameters allow us to reproduce the experimental wavenumbers with an RMS error lower than 4.5 × 10−4 cm−1.  相似文献

New water‐soluble methacrylate polymers with pendant quaternary ammonium (QA) groups were synthesized and used as antibacterial materials. The polymers with pendant QA groups were obtained by the reaction of the alkyl halide groups of a previously synthesized functional methacrylate homopolymer with various tertiary alkyl amines containing 12‐, 14‐, or 16‐carbon alkyl chains. The structures of the functional polymer and the polymers with QA groups were confirmed with Fourier transform infrared and 1H and 13C NMR. The degree of conversion of alkyl halides to QA sites in each polymer was determined by 1H NMR to be over 90% in all cases. The number‐average molecular weight and polydispersity of the functional polymer were determined by size exclusion chromatography to be 32,500 g/mol and 2.25, respectively. All polymers were thermally stable up to 180 °C according to thermogravimetric analysis. The antibacterial activities of the polymers with pendant QA groups against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were determined with broth‐dilution and spread‐plate methods. All the polymers showed excellent antibacterial activities in the range of 32–256 μg/mL. The antibacterial activity against S. aureus increased with an increase in the alkyl chain length for the ammonium groups, whereas the antibacterial activity against E. coli decreased with increasing alkyl chain length. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We described the obtention of A2B star block copolymers through the use of a new heterotrifunctional initiator. That way, well‐defined (PCL)2‐arm‐PtBuMA and (PCL)2‐arm‐PS star block copolymers have been synthesized from a heterotrifunctional initiator bearing two hydroxyl groups able to initiate ROP of CL (with AlEt3 or Sn(Oct)2 as coinitiator) and a bromide function able to initiate ATRP of tBuMA or styrene. Firstly, we have proceeded using a sequential process (two‐steps), leading to an intermediate macroinitiator. Secondly, attempt to polymerize these two monomers in a simultaneous process (one‐step), that is directly from the mixture of monomers, initiator, coinitiators, and solvent, has been realized and has shown that some interferences between the two polymerizations occurred, leading to an inhibition of ATRP when Sn(Oct)2 was used and an unexpected increase in control when AlEt3 was used as catalyst for the ROP (obtention of well‐defined (PCL)2‐arm‐PtBuMA with pdi of 1.18). © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis of a block copolymer poly(vinyl chloride)‐b‐poly(n‐butyl acrylate)‐b‐poly(vinyl chloride) is reported. This new material was synthesized by single‐electron‐transfer/degenerative‐chain‐transfer‐mediated living radical polymerization (SET‐DTLRP) in two steps. First, a bifunctional macroinitiator of α,ω‐di(iodo)poly (butyl acrylate) [α,ω‐di(iodo)PBA] was synthesized by SET‐DTLRP in water at 25 °C. The macroinitiator was further reinitiated by SET‐DTLRP, leading to the formation of the desired product. This ABA block copolymer was synthesized with high initiator efficiency. The kinetics of the copolymerization reaction was studied for two PBA macroinitiators with number–average molecular weight of 10 k and 20 k. The relationship between the conversion and the number–average molecular weight was found to be linear. The dynamic mechanical thermal analysis suggests just one phase, indicating that copolymer behaves as a single material with no phase separation. This methodology provides the access to several block copolymers and other complex architectures that result from combinations of thermoplastics (PVC) and elastomers (PBA). From industrial standpoint, this process is attractive, because of easy experimental setup and the environmental friendly reaction medium. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
