Inclusive production of ?0,f, andg 0 mesons and ofK s 0 ,K *0 (892), ? andK *0(1430)mesons has been measured at <y>~2.6 and <p T >~1.1 GeV/c in proton-proton interactions at \(\sqrt s = 52.5\) GeV. The negative particle from the two-body decays of these resonances were identified by a threshold Cerenkov counter and used for triggering. Starting from the measured differential cross section, total inclusive cross sections for the vector and tensor mesons were determined using various parametrizations for they andp T dependence of the differential cross section. The experimental results are discussed in the framework of production models based on the parton picture. The strangeness suppresion factor λ=(0.30±0.10) due toSU(3) symmetry breaking of the quark sea is derived.  相似文献

Despite significant advances in image‐guided therapy, surgeons are still too often left with uncertainty when deciding to remove tissue. This binary decision between removing and leaving tissue during surgery implies that the surgeon should be able to distinguish tumor from healthy tissue. In neurosurgery, current image‐guidance approaches such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) combined with neuronavigation offer a map as to where the tumor should be, but the only definitive method to characterize the tissue at stake is histopathology. Although extremely valuable information is derived from this gold standard approach, it is limited to very few samples during surgery and is not practically used for the delineation of tumor margins. The development and implementation of faster, comprehensive, and complementary approaches for tissue characterization are required to support surgical decision‐making – an incremental and iterative process with tumor removed in multiple and often minute biopsies. The development of atmospheric pressure ionization sources makes it possible to analyze tissue specimens with little to no sample preparation. Here, we highlight the value of desorption electrospray ionization as one of many available approaches for the analysis of surgical tissue. Twelve surgical samples resected from a patient during surgery were analyzed and diagnosed as glioblastoma tumor or necrotic tissue by standard histopathology, and mass spectrometry results were further correlated to histopathology for critical validation of the approach. The use of a robust statistical approach reiterated results from the qualitative detection of potential biomarkers of these tissue types. The correlation of the mass spectrometry and histopathology results to MRI brings significant insight into tumor presentation that could not only serve to guide tumor resection, but that is also worthy of more detailed studies on our understanding of tumor presentation on MRI. Recent research has demonstrated the suitability of adult zebrafish to model some aspects of complex behaviour. Studies of reward behaviour, learning and memory, aggression, anxiety and sleep strongly suggest that conserved regulatory processes underlie behaviour in zebrafish and mammals. The isolation and molecular analysis of zebrafish behavioural mutants is now starting, allowing the identification of novel behavioural control genes. As a result of this, studies of adult zebrafish are now helping to uncover the genetic pathways and neural circuits that control vertebrate behaviour.  相似文献

We reinterpret the state space dimension equations for geometric Goppa codes. An easy consequence is that if deg then the state complexity of is equal to the Wolf bound. For deg , we use Clifford's theorem to give a simple lower bound on the state complexity of . We then derive two further lower bounds on the state space dimensions of in terms of the gonality sequence of . (The gonality sequence is known for many of the function fields of interest for defining geometric Goppa codes.) One of the gonality bounds uses previous results on the generalised weight hierarchy of and one follows in a straightforward way from first principles; often they are equal. For Hermitian codes both gonality bounds are equal to the DLP lower bound on state space dimensions. We conclude by using these results to calculate the DLP lower bound on state complexity for Hermitian codes.  相似文献

When the fully-developed turbulent flow in a pipe of circular cross-section is forced to negotiate a 90° mitred bend, flow separation occurs at the inner and outer corners of the bend, with random switching of the separation regions from one side of the plane of symmetry of the bend to the other (as was previously observed by Tunstall and Harvey). The resulting disturbance to the fluctuating pressure field consists of intense non-propagating fluctuations over the region of the inner-wall separation, which near re-attachment have a maximum rms value of about 33% of the undisturbed centre-line dynamic pressure, but are rapidly attenuated with downstream distance from the bend. Beyond about 12 diameters downstream the only remaining disturbance is an acoustic field comprising propagating higher order modes and plane waves, the latter making the larger contribution to the overall mean square pressure. Extensive spectral measurements of the wall pressure field for flow Mach numbers in the range 0·2-0·5 are presented, and regions where higher order modes are detectable are identified. Downstream of the bend, wall pressure spectra generally have two local maxima at frequencies below those at which higher order acoustic modes can propagate. They occur at Strouhal numbers of about 0·4 and 1·6, and turbulent fluctuations at these frequencies in the vicinity of the bend appear to be mainly responsible for the generation of plane acoustic waves. The former Strouhal number does not vary significantly with streamwise position but decreases slightly with increasing flow speed; the latter is somewhat more sensitive to both flow speed and streamwise position. Upstream of the bend wall pressure spectra exhibit only the maximum at a Strouhal number of about 0·4.  相似文献

The reaction pp→ppπ+π? at √s=31GeV was studied at the Split Field Magnet Facility of the CERN-ISR. Selecting events with two leading protons of x>0.9 and a rapidity gap Δy>2 between the protons and both pions a sample of 720 events is obtained representing a cross section of 25±10μb. The mass distribution of the dipion system, x and pT distributions for the protons are presented and analyzed for the presence of double pomeron exchange.  相似文献
