Photochromic reactions in liquid crystals induce re-alignments of the host molecules, accompanied by changes in the optical properties and various other properties of the materials. Since the first report by Sackmann in 1971, various combinations of photochromic compounds and liquid crystals have been studied to elicit the reversible photo-regulated changes of various properties. In this report we review the advances of this field during the past 5 years, which include the creation of mechanical functions, the regulation of novel optical properties, cholesteric liquid crystals doped with azobenzene compounds in high concentrations, the regulation of ferroelectric liquid crystals, the induction of chirality by circularly polarized light, photoresponsive chiral dopants, and the photo-regulation of the oscillation wavelength of mirrorless lasers. 相似文献

The matrix-isolation infrared spectrum of a thermally evaporated ionic liquid, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate ([Emim][OTf]), was measured by FTIR spectroscopy and analyzed with the aid of DFT calculations. The main chemical species in the observed IR spectrum was mainly identified as the 1:1 cation-anion pair, which corresponds to the second stable ion-pair structure bonded through five hydrogen bonds between three O atoms of the anion side and four H atoms of the cation. 相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a scheme for boosting the efficiency of entanglement distribution based on a decoherence-free subspace over lossy quantum channels. By using backward propagation of a coherent light, our scheme achieves an entanglement-sharing rate that is proportional to the transmittance T of the quantum channel in spite of encoding qubits in multipartite systems for the decoherence-free subspace. We experimentally show that highly entangled states, which can violate the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality, are distributed at a rate proportional to T. 相似文献

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a 40 Gb/s secure optical communication system with on-off-keying (OOK) modulation format by using a time domain spectral phase en/decoding scheme, which employs a highly dispersive element and high-speed phase modulator for introducing significant symbol overlapping for both the encoded and incorrectly decoded noiselike signals to enhance the information security against eavesdropping using a power detector. The influence of dispersion and chip modulation rate on the symbol overlapping of the incorrectly decoded signal has been analytically investigated and experimentally verified. Security enhancement for 40 Gb/s OOK data using fast reconfigurable 40 Gchip/s optical codes with code lengths of up to 1024 has been demonstrated and compared with a 10 Gb/s system. 相似文献

The resistivity of a hydrogenated sputtered amorphous-silicon is controlled by using room temperature implantation of P+. It is found that the defects produced by implantation can be minimized by annealing at 300°C in an H2 atmosphere, and also found that there is a threshold implanted dose, beyond which the resistivity begins to be controlled by changing the dose. 相似文献

This work presents novel colorless polyimides (PIs) derived from 1R,2S,4S,5R‐cyclohexanetetracarboxylic dianhydride (H″‐PMDA). Isomer effects were also discussed by comparing with PI systems derived from conventional hydrogenated pyromellitic dianhydride, that is, 1S,2R,4S,5R‐cyclohexanetetracarboxylic dianhydride (H‐PMDA). H″‐PMDA was much more reactive with various diamines than H‐PMDA, and the former led to PI precursors with much higher molecular weights. The results can be explained from the quite different steric structures of these isomers. The thermally imidized H″‐PMDA‐based films were colorless regardless of diamines because of inhibited charge‐transfer interaction. In particular, the H″‐PMDA/4,4′‐oxydianiline system simultaneously achieved a very high Tg exceeding 300 °C, high toughness (elongation at break > 70%), and good solution processability. In contrast, the H‐PMDA‐based counterparts were essentially insoluble. The outstanding solubility of the former probably results from disturbed chain stacking by its nonplanar steric structure. An advantage of chemical imidization process is also proposed. In some cases, a copolymerization approach with an aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydride was effective to improve the thermal expansion property. The results suggest that the H″‐PMDA‐based PI systems can be promising candidates for novel high‐temperature plastic substrate materials in electronic paper displays. Organic functionalization of a silica surface has been realized by employing arylsilanes. Grafting reactions of aryl(3-chloropropyl)dimethylsilanes (aryl = p-anisyl, p-tolyl, phenyl) with silica were carried out in heptane at 80 °C for 24 h. The 29Si and 13C CP/MAS spectra of the obtained silica materials clearly showed that the 3-chloropropyldimethylsilyl moieties were cleanly grafted onto silica via a siloxane (Si-O-Si) bond accompanied by the release of the aryl groups. The loading amounts on FSM-type mesoporous silica (TMPS-4) with aryl(3-chloropropyl)dimethylsilanes were comparable to those with 2-propenylsilane and the most commonly used methoxysilane. 相似文献
